Hope everyone is having a good week.

I have been a bit off, and have developed what I think may be an abscess in my gum, so am off to the dentist to have it looked at today. It has been developing over the last week, and seems to have affected my whole mood!

I will weigh this week on Friday, as I fly down to Portland, Oregon to meet up with my daughter, catch the 4th of July fireworks, then off to the Washington coast to the cabin for four days of relaxation and hiking. I think I really need this.

Hi Girls,

No change in my weight from last week, but I'm not going to sweat it. Going to Gettysburg this weekend with my DBF and his daughter for a little R & R. Should be much easier (and cleaner) than the camping trip last week!

I'll try to eat cleanly and I'm sure we'll do a lot of walking. Anyone have ideas of what else to do in that area of PA?

Andi

Smile Happy July 4th!

Yeah it's a day early but I won't be on tomorrow.

Down 1.5 pounds so far this week. What's everyone doing food-wise about the July 4th picnic? How do you all plan to keep control?

Giving myself ONE special non-diet thing to eat and that's going to be ...

POTATO SALAD! (Well we all have our issues...LOL).

Otherwise it's turkey (burger or hotdog) and green salad. Or a big pile of tomato. Making the decision in advance helps me.

How about you gals? Any plans?

Good job peanut butter!!!

I am going to the fair today. I will try my best not to over indulge. It will take some will power though.

Default Happy July 4th!

Down 3 lbs
Doing my weigh-in today, as I leave for a week vacation this morning.

Will celebrate the 4th with my daughter down in Portland. As much as I love her, I need to be strong, as she can be very opinionated about telling me what I can eat (she is a trained chef).

Hope you all have a lovely holiday, and whether we manage to stick to plan or not, it is one day, and another day will always follow.

We went to the movies. I took a deep breath and then saw that the theatre had delicious special teas! So I had earl grey tea. It was wonderful and a much better choice than diet soda for me.
I have stayed true to myself.
I do not eat foods that are not kind and loving to my body.
I love and safe guard my health and hold it up higher than any temporary mouth feel of an unhealthy fattening sugar loaded food.
I do not fear food.
I have power over my choices.

Curvynotlumpy- Sounds like you have had a lot to battle with weight and life. Have you tried walking at a fast pace, or even walking with handweights? That works for me in helping to keep those extra pounds off. How about dancing? You can just turn up the music in the house and dance while your cleaning. If you like country music, line dancing can be fun and helps battle the extra pounds. Just a few ideas to help you breathe deeper, increase the heart rate, and getting that metabolism going again. How do you rediscover that initial spark? I think it is different for every person. A good place to start though is to do it for someone very special, someone who is very important, and who will benefit from you efforts more than anyone else. That person is you, and you deserve to treat that person with the best care that you can. Afterall, the results will be well worth it. We know you can do it. We want to see you become the best that you can be.

Corinna T, I've been long away from this board but thank you for continuing this thread and your warm welcome. While I'm still struggling with the 25-35 pounds, it comforts me to know that there are so many others in the same position AND willing to be support for others.

To answer your question, while I haven't been all that successful in dropping pounds, in January I started heavy lifting to increase the muscles around my knees. I do fast walk and run/walk intervals are part of my exercise routine as well. But you know what, exercise or really hasn't been the issue. What it comes down to is my diet. When I really think about what made me successful initially, it was portion control, avoiding a lot of sugar and refined carbohydrates, drinking my water, AND exercising. Everything worked together. A lot of discipline. Once I started to cut corners the weight came back on. So now I'm at it again and I'm on this board again and so happy to be here. I refuse to look back unless it is to learn and self-reflect. No more "if I had only..." or "what ifs..."

Start 1/20 @223.1# & Target = 198.1
6/7 = 213 = -10.1 (-.4 this week)
6/14 = 212.5 = -10.6 (-.5 this week)
6/22 = 211.9 = -11.2
6/28 = 211.5 = -11.7 (-.5 this week)
7/5 = 211.1 = -12.1

Do not freak out. Do not go bonkers. Going on a vacation does not mean you will gain weight.
I know that you will be away from your Zumba class.
But you will be walking alot, and maybe you can tempt DH to take you to that country/western dance bar you saw advertised in the place you are visiting.
And take that salad container with you.
The hotel room has a fridge. Put carrots, greens, celery, peppers in the salad to munch on .
You can do this you can handle change.
You are not a coward or a weakling.

^^^^^THIS tape, or one similar, should be looping through our heads when we're in challenging food situations! Love the positive self-talk!
