I just signed up and am going to concentrate on just making healthier choices the first week. We are going to visit relatives and that always throws me off. I am trying to be kinder to myself. I have a habit of binging when I am not perfect. I am 53 and need to lose around 80 pounds. Together we can do this!

Hi there, my name is Bev and I am 52 years young, I am on my 6th day on the IP. The first few days I was dizzy and had some nausea. However that is all gone now but I dont feel like I am in Ketosis? I am so looking forward to losing 40-45 lbs. I bought myself a Harley so that is my incentive

Hi Bev, welcome aboard! Do you have any ketostix? That's the only sure way (that I know of) to see if you are in ketosis.

ShoBan here, that was a long vacation!
Last time I posted was Sept., great vacation. Now it's already end of Feb., and sad to say, I fell off the wagon, big-time.. I was on IP, lost the wt. fast, but if you don't follow through with maintenance, the wt. creeps back with a vengence! This is hard admitting I failed at keeping the wt. off. so, I'm not going back to IP, it was too strict (for me). I will keep reading all the successes my fellow 50+ are making. And good luck to you all!

Hi new to this website. Been on a weight loss journey my whole life. Now that I am almost 58, it is so much harder. Last weight loss has been 45 pounds over the last year, but motivation is not here any more. Afraid I will start to lose focus and begin gaining again. Any suggestions?

Hello everyone! I am 55 and need to lose 65 pounds...this is week 1 for me..I started a yoga class this week to get me started moving...I have fibro and arthritis in my knees so moving is a big issue...the yoga was great! I am trying to stay away from my biggist temptation....Fast Food...I was skinny until I hit my 40's then I went on antidepressants and blew up! I am 5,11 and weigh 227. I have an elliptical cycle I am going to dust off and start using again if my poor old knees can stand it. Gets discouraging when pain keeps me from moving....need all the motivation and support I can get! Also thinking of starting WW online April 1st.

New to board
I am starting week three of a healthy eating plan. I am cutting sugars, lowering carbs, and increasing fruits and vegetables. I track using an AP called Lose It. So far I've lost 5 lbs.
I've done every diet imaginable, and have lost the same 40 lbs. many times. My problem is, I always gain it back. I need to adopt an eating plan that is part of my life, not just another diet. I have an elliptical machine which I have started using again. It helps me regain muscle tone and strength, which as I age, seems to be waning. Just in two weeks, I have noticed a difference.

Hi, Cinthia. I've just joined so am just now reading your post and saw where you asked for suggestions about protein products. I've begun using a pea protein powder by Now Sports. No soy, whey, or rice. I add it to smoothies that I make with almond milk, fruits, veggies and ice. It doesn't upset my stomach either. I've decided to use this as an important part of my weight loss program along with smaller portions and basic exercise with a 10 lb kettlebell to start. I hope you're having success!

lizziej-getting ready to get ready
Hi,,
I love reading all your chat, it is so inspiring. I am almost 56 and have been a lifetime member of the struggle. I was just on the verge of finally going for self pay bypass when I heard about the IP diet and started looking into it. I have tried everything else and gained and lost countless pounds. I am at the jumping off point with no motivation to do "another" diet when I found this website and starting reading. Hey, I am starting to get motivated to try this IP before going into years of debt and having the scary surgery.
Thank you for being here and sharing! I hope to have a consult for the IP plan today and get started real soon.
keep us posted on how you like the IP. really like to know If the food cravings go away or diminish significantly.
thanks for posting!

Where to start?
Hi my name is Jaz not sure where to start, been on this road for 64 yrs. Off the wagon. Definitely a comfort eater. My husband brings home every lollie, Icecream, chips, peanuts for the children to eat.
Our children are all grown up and the grand kids appear maybe monthly. I've asked him not to bring them home, out bar is like a lollie shop and a little freezer is full of what Ron calls sputniks (drumsticks) etc. which he eats every day. Not a supporting person with weight. Ron's one of those hubby's that really aren't there emotionally. Nice person tho
I'm a yo yo er feel great when I'm a the right weight , I really don't understand the comfort eating which is what I'm doing at the moment. My daughters thinking of shifting and I'd rarely see the grand kids
I get annoyed with myself that I do that, then the cycle starts and you become depressed over that
Maybe some one can. Relate
Thank Jaz
