New and over 50.(by 3 years!lol)
Going in for a total knee replacement, on the first knee on July 15th.
I am needing support to loose some weight. I deal with fibromyalgia also. so hard to get moving. and my biggest downfall is eating at the wrong times. (evening) I have been scanning this message board for a few days, trying to learn how it works, and deided this is the group i need to be on,i think!

Hi Kim, Welcome. You've taken the first step to good health. Find a good support group and make a plan. What is your plan? I post on Golden Girls. We all have different "diet's" but we all work together. Check us out.
I'm a rehab nurse. We see a lot of knees. Knee replacement makes such a diffence to your life. To be able to move without pain. But the excess weight isn't helping, of course, so you are smart to start getting rid of it.

Hello my northern neighbor, and to 3FC, & especially to this forum!
I tend to be an evening eater, too, and have solved that problem by saving some of my calories for then. A turkey wrap or a bowl of oatmeal holds me over nicely until breakfast
My sister had her knees replaced and says its the best thing she's ever done!
I post at the Daily Chat thread, and welcome you there! The Golden Girls and the Daily Chat thread, both, will offer you friendship, support and encouragement.

Hi, Kim, and I think you'll enjoy being part of our group here.
Good luck on your knee replacement. I know several people who've had it done and wish they'd had it done sooner, as it's made a big change in their lives.
I look forward to getting to know you better, come on over hop into the daily chatter thread with us!

Hi Kim! Welcome! I'm an evening eater too. Like Jane I just make sure I save some calories.. 100-200 in my case..to make sure I have enough to fill my tummy and yet not stuff myself. I try to eat it around 8 or 9 in eve. Glad you've joined us. I post in Golden Girls and the Daily Chat too. Oh and we now have a daily food thread where we post what we eat each day. I find it helpful to my accountability.

Hi Kim,
I am new as well, this is my first post. I too am over 50 (by 1 1/2 years!) I have been hunting around the board looking for threads about knee replacement surgery and found yours. I had my first knee done 4 1/2 weeks ago (6/9) and did the same thing you are doing - lost weight before hand. I lost 22 pounds before the surgery, and have lost 9 more since coming home from rehab. I wish I had lost more, some days I am pretty tired and I'm sure hauling around the extra 60 I still have to lose doesn't help!!
I want to lose more now that I am home but my surgeon has advised not to try to lose weight while healing as my body needs the calories for healing. So I try to still make good choices but am not "dieting." It's frustrating as I seem to spend so much time inactive, that I am afraid it will all come back. I do my PT a couple times a day, but can't do much else just yet.
Does anyone else have experience with weight loss after knee replacement surgery? I do the leg strengthening and stretching exercises that the therapist has given me, and we just added resistance with a band; and I do some arm exercises with light weights and the band but have to take them easy since walking with the cane has aggravated my rotator cuff tendinitis that I had last year.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

Hello, I am sort of new, was here awhile back but went off the wagon , I didn't know there were 50+ clubs, sounds like a good place for me to be, except I am 60+, is there a club for that age group..so much on this site, I love it..I need to loose 30 lbs..I am finding it so hard because I never use to have to worry about my weight. The last 2 1/2 years , since we moved to FL I have been steadly putting it on..So today here i am starting over..
