Default How to find formulas for 'burn rate'

A burn rate is: The number of calories per minute, per pound of body weight, that a physical activity expends. (For activities like running and swimming, where speed influences the burn rate, it is measured in calories per minute per pound per mile-per-hour.)

Jane mentioned the formula is usually based on a body mass of 150 pounds.
If you find burn rate chart, usually the chart will include a section called sources. From sources you can click on the links and go to the actual studies. If the links are not provided, you can google the the name of the study.

Using my Diet Power Software, for example, I was able to link to a page for the American College of Sports Medicine. I found a lot of helpful information on this site.

I hope that some of this information may be useful for you.
