Smile Memorial Day Challenge

NEW CHALLENGE - come join us!

WHO - The over 50 gang.

WHAT - Whatever we each think will help us lose or maintain our weight. For me, I will list my weigt, calories and exercise minutes each day. My goal will be to get to 145 lbs by May 31.

WHERE - Up in the sticky area.

WHEN - Begins tomorrow (March 18) ends Memorial Day (in US) (May 31)

WHY - We all need accountability and a target to aim for. Unless we know where we are going, it is unlikely we will get there.

March 24 - Not doing very well. Eating a LOT & no exercise. Will have to go on a fast when I get home.

Hmmm - started to post & got bumped to "medifast" site!!!!!!!!

Back from Italy & up 4 lbs - well-deserved. That's 2 lbs of Gelato & 2 lbs of pasta.

I'm just going to post my exercise. If I need to start posting calories again I'll do that too, but for right now, just exercise.

Hi, I'm new and would love to join in. I was diagnosed with diabetes about a month ago, and I need to do better with my lifestyle. If I counted right, there is 10 weeks thru Memorial Day.

My Goals:
SW 276.6 GW 266

Exercise
Goal 50 m watp thru Memorial Day

Water
At least 24 oz daily, will up it as I do better.

I have not done well with the challenges but I will try again. we are home again for a while so that may help. I will post weight, calories and exercise. I can't believe how quickly I have regained recently so have kept my sig the same in hopes it will soon be true again. ;-0

03/25 165.6!!5 min yoga, 7 min running in place (maybe more like jogging), and about 5 min. other exercises and stretching. Won't be back at the gym until the first but will try to do a little exercise here at home each day. I'm really sore today from just 10 min. of exercises I did last night so I need it! 1343 Calories, 12 carb servings BS 156H
3/26 164.4 BS223H, then later 153, 1740 calories! 19 carb servings!! Walked and other exercises about 30 min.
3/27 165.6 10 BS166H, min exercises for abs and legs, 1236 calories, almost 15 carb servings so high again...need to be more careful seems like I have trouble thinking about both calories AND carbs. Get one right but not both.
3/28 164.2, not a good day. BS high. No exercise other than almost 4 hours of shopping, too many calories and carbs.
3/29 164.2, exercised a few minutes, 1404 calories and 9 carb servings. It's been a good day!
3/30 163.2
3/31 165.6 too many calories! I ended the day by throwing away foods that was tempting me.
4/1 165.6 didn't track. think I did bad again.
4/2 166!! out of town. didn't track.
4/3 165.6, 1246 calories, 12 carb servings, BS 165H, no exercise other than a little housework.

4/5 166.4!! 1484 calories, 14 carb serving, have had a bad headache for about 2 weeks now (with a few days break here and there) and just discovered it is due to an herbal supplement I have been taking that Valerian it it! I know from previous experience (twice!) that Valerian and I do not do well together. I've stopped taking it so hopefully will feel better soon. Whoops...spoke too soon..have to edit my post 1652 calories and almost 15 carb servings and a few minutes of exercises. I'll be sorry I ate so much when I go to the doctor tomorrow!
4/6 165, bs 183H, doctor appt..amazingly my A1C was only 6.6 still but he says it can sorta lag behind what I'm doing so next time even if I do well on my diet it may be higher. great! Oh well, one day at a time. I told him I would really try to stick to my diet so hope I can do it. I just get SO tired of dieting and yet I know I have to do this the rest of my life! 1487 calories, about 13 carb servings. A little high but not too bad.
4/7 165.4, about 30 min. exercise, 1390 calories, 12.5 carb servings.
4/8 164.4, bs high in am but before lunch it was ok, 1510 calories, 12 carb servings. eta: forgot to mention I exercised a few minutes.
4/9 163.8, exercised 15 min+, 1443, 11 carb servings. A good day, feeling better!
4/10 163.4, bs great!, 1531 calories and 10 carb servings.
4/11 163.6 bs only tiny bit high, 1423 calories, 12 carb servings, only exercise 3 1/2 hrs shopping.
4/12 163.8, finally back to gym for 40 min cardio circuit, 1521 calories, 14 carb servings.
4/13 163,1684 calories (too much), 12 carb servings, bs very good.
4/14 163.4, 30 min stretch and 40 min cardio, lost track but pretty sure I went over in calories and probably carbs too. bs slightly high.
4/15 164, 30 min yoga stretch, 40 min cardio, bs high but great later, ate too much in evening!
4/16 165.4!!, 40 min cardio, overate!! bs good at least.
4/17 164.4 bs good, 1492 Calories, 11 carb servings.
4/18 163.6, bs high then good later, 1561 calories and 13 carb servings (a little high). whoops! my dh tempted me with bagels and I ate 2! So my calories are higher now.
4/19 164, 30 min stretch, 25 reps each on two weight machines (yeah, i know but good for me!), walked track 5 min, and 40 min cardio. ate too much in the evening!
4/20 165.4, ate out, 1571, about 16 carb servings.
4/21 165.6 don't like how this is going! 30 min stretch, 40 min cardio, 1570 calories, 12 carb servings.
4/22 165.4 30 min yoga stretch, 40 min cardio, bs great, 1181 calories, 11 carb servings
4/23 164.2 40 min cardio, bs high in am but great later, 1332 calories, 15 carb servings (high).
4/24 163.6 10 min upper body workout, bs 122, 1825 calories!, 13 carb servings. :-(
4/25 WW WI 164, about 5 min. exercises, bs good, 1518 calories, 15 carb servings (high again!) 19 min. non-weight exercises.
4/26 163.6, 30 min stretch, 40 min cardio, walked about 1/2 mile, bs still high but better than most mornings, 1020 calories, 11 carb servings.
4/27 162, 30 min yoga stretch, 40 min cardio, about 5 min. other exercises, bs good, 1117, 10 carb servings. Good day!
4/28 162.2. 30 min stretch, 40 min cardio, walked about 1/2 mile, bs just little high, 1309 Calories, 11 carb servings.
4/29 162, bs high, 1237 calories, 10 carb servings.
4/30 161.8, 40 min cardio, 1806 calories and 15 carb servings!
5/1 162.2, bsH, few minute of exercise, 1526 calories, 11 carb servings, bs tonight is good.
5/2 WW WI 162, 1489 calories, 10 carb serving. BS Great!!
5/3 161.4, 30 min stretch, 40 min cardio, 1081 calories, 9 carb servings. bs great!!
5/4 160.4, 30 min yoga stretch, 40 min cardio, bs great!, 1217 calories, 11 carb servings.

5/8 160, 1755 calories, 13 carb servings, feeling little mad at myself tonight as I ate 2 small cookies and had an ice cream cone at the mall today! And I was doing so well....not sure why I do these things right before my WW weigh-in!! About 13 min abd exercises.
5/9 WW WI 160.8, 1889 calories! ate out, 9 carb servings (mostly protein and fat today).
5/16 WW WI 162.2 not tracking calories or points, trying to track carbs in my head, I got up to 164 so glad to see I'm down this am. Still traveling.

5/25 161.4, 1453 calories, 14 carb servings, 10 min. walking in place, few min exercises.
5/26 162.2, 30 min stretch, 13 min brisk walk, 40 cardio circuit. 1394 calories, 12 carb servings.

5/29 160.6 buffet for lunch! Yikes! Tried to watch it but know I still ate too much. I was planning on using the 3-bite rule for dessert but forgot about it when I saw doughnuts and ice cream! 1498 calories, 12 carb servings. Hope I calculated correctly as that doesn't seem to bad considering eating at a buffet!
5/30 WW WI 160.2 ate out again 1871 calories (whoops!), 14 carb servings.

I lost 5.4 lbs since I started this challenge (3/25/)!! Very slow going but I am just thankful to have lost and hope I can keep it off.
















Chat: Forgot to mention in the beginning that I am diabetic (type 2) and will also track carb servings and my bs each day as I really need to get it under control too.

5/2 My goal right now is to get back down to 157. I was there in Nov and again in Jan but only very briefly.
5/30 Guess I did ok yesterday despite the buffet. Today we will be eating out again..eating out is a real challenge but I do feel I am choosing more wisely than I used to...not perfect but I'm doing better. And yesterday I didn't let the big meal and being op one meal cause me to throw the whole day away like I usually do. That's a big step forward for me!

My goal to to weigh 129 on May 31. I will do this by eating 1500-1600 calories and getting in 10,000 steps a day.

3/28.....1450 calories....7,275 steps......45 min walk................134.4 pounds
3/29.....1515 calories...10,040 steps.....55 min Treadmill
3/30.....1500 calories...10, 948 steps....40 min weight training; 1 mile on treadmill
3/31.....1600 calories....9,647 steps......3 miles on treadmill (50 min)
4/1.......1505 calories....9,972 steps......20 min weights, 2 mile treadmill
