St. Patrick's Day Challenge
It's amazing how publicity can be motivating. Most of us don't like disappointing people, so there's something about knowing that people are expecting you to drop a few pounds that makes you want to reach that goal and convinces you to eat just one cookie instead of the whole bag of cookies or to finish that workout instead of just skipping exercise for the day. Yes, peer pressure can be a good thing.
It is good to track what you have done because if things go well or badly you can start to see why. The more informed you are the better equipped you become to tackle your challenges.

Happy St. Patties Day! I started at 135.5 and ended up losing 8 pounds in the 32 days of this challenge. Thanks for joining me, hope you all are proud of yourselves. Especially all that had obstacles of one kind or another.
Feb 14 - Feb 28 Summary - Kept within calorie limit 5 days, exercised 10 days, lost 1 pound.
In February, had surgery, had flu, was hospitalized, injured knee and dealt with DD's cancer treatment. It was a TOUGH month!
Goal for March 1 - March 17 - Do better with calories and exercise.
March 1 - 157 lbs; ++++ calories; 45 min exercise

I can't believe what my scale said this morning. I had to step on it three times for me to believe. 170.8 that is 7.2 pounds!!!!!! Holy cow...thanks for all the support.

Ok, I'll enter this challenge for the accountability. I have been having trouble sticking to my calorie limit. We are temporarily living in our RV near family. We often either eat at their house or fast food cause we are very busy and rarely home to cook our own meals. We do walk 30 min. most mornings.
My goals are to stick to my calorie limit of 1400 and carb servings of 9-12. I have gained back some pounds and am currently 2.5 lbs above my starting weight for this month so I would like to lose at least 3.5 lbs and preferably 4.5 lbs by St. Patricks Day.
02/19/10 161.5 lbs, went over on calories and carbs.
02/20/10 162.5 lbs, 1488 calories and 14 carbs. Too much but not too bad. I suspect I can actually have a few more carbs now that I am taking meds but I still prefer to stick to no more than 12 servings.
2/21/10 160 too many calories,I think ok on carbs. Took only a short slow walk.
2/22/10 161.5 Travel day and I used it an excuse to snack too much in the car then couldn't sleep so got up to read (and ate!)
2/23/10 163.5!! Didn't walk today since I was tired and probably too much carb!
calories and carbs great today.
2/24/10 161.5 ended up a little over on calories but ok on carbs.
2/25/10 LOL just realized I've been typing 09 instead of 10! So changed all my entries to catch up the date. 161 lbs. way over on calories and carbs!
2/26/10 162.5 Guess there is some connection between my overeating and my weight going up....duh, why didn't I figure that one out sooner...LOL just joking! I'm having a hard time sticking to my limits. Yes, I agree I wish it WERE 09 esp back in the fall as I was lighter then too until the holidays hit...haven't been the same for long since. Well I will never give up trying. Only walked about 24 min. today and mostly slow-mod. 1397 calories and a little less than 13 carb servings.
2/27/10 160.5, lunch and dinner out today but shared lunch at least. calories ok and carb servings great.
2/28/10 162.5!! Feb has not been a good month for me weight-wise...I started the month at 159 so I actually gained 3.5 lbs!!! So I hope that March will be better. I did well on calories today and very good on carbs.

3/12/10 scale broke when dh stepped on it this am!! He weighs less than me so it was not because he is too heavy..LOL Ate at dd's house and felt I ate very healthy but did not really track calories and may have gone a bit over esp tonight. think carbs ok though. hope to buy new scale tomorrow.
3/13/10 bought a new scale today, stepped on it with clothes and seemed pretty accurate but will be more sure tomorrow am. Still not counting calories but felt I did pretty well on carbs, no as sure about calories.
3/17/10 I don't do challenges well..LOL I have GAINED 2.9 lbs!! I'll use the trip as my excuse but last winter I actually lost on our trip.
I'll take this challenge too! Today I started WW, plus started exercising again after a long break.
I have a mini-goal to lose 5%, so that'll get me to 308 lb. I don't expect to get there by the 17th, but it is my goal to make progress toward that end, at about 2 lbs/week. I will only weigh-in once a week, but I'll track my exercise and WW points daily, for the entire month.

EXERCISE GOAL: Six days a week...10 minute warm up, 5000m on the rowing machine. Three days a week...full body weight training routine, plus abs
WW POINTS GOAL: 37
3/1 - Completed 5013 m rowing machine, 00:38:43 (warm up on the machine) - Feeling a bit queasy now. Blech! Need to drink more water. 3/2 - Morning burst of energy got me back on the rowing machine today, 5233m. Drank adequate water before so not queasy! 3/3 - Have further injured my left wrist after a car accident. Today was the last of the rowing for awhile and I'm now in a splint (BUMMER!). Also means not weights. Did manage 5017m in 48 minutes. Not good to row with one arm either! 3/4 3/5 3/6 3/7

Hi Mary...how did you survive the weekend? Isabella...did you give me your sore back? Yesterday and today I could hardly get out of bed, my lower back seemed to lock up and I can't bend over without pain, ouch! Standing up doesn' hurt, getting up out of a chair is torture. I didn't think I could exercise today but I didn't bend over either. I'm going to put ice packs on it before bed and see if that helps. I think my muscles in my back get inflamed, it's happened in the past. Lynn...Easy does it girlfriend, 45 minutes? dis...6 days a week I can easily count calories but I'm with you on Sunday's. I can't predict the ingredients in food I don't make. Sunday's I skip lunch so I can eat treats in the afternoon and don't even try to count calories. I decided to rest my knees from the stepper on Sundays also.

I'm working my way back to 90 - 120 minutes. Right now, doing the treadmill VERY slowly - less than 2 mph. Want to get back up to 3+ asap. Without my exercise, I need to keep calories too low to be comfortable in order to lose. I'm backing off when it hurts. I had planned for 90 minutes this morning. Stopped at 60 min bc it started to ache. NOTE: only 30 min on the treadmill, 30 min weights.
Hi there! I am new to this sub group. I have been hanging out on the 100 + subgroup. I am 64 (on Sunday). I would like to join the challenge.
I want to get within 1-2 pounds of virgin fat. I am 1/2 way to goal now.

12Mar - walked in down pour first time in many months

14Mar - not a good day DeP relapsed is drinking again I am staying on program
15Mar - now have car in shop and no scale at home will have to weigh in for final accounting after 17Mar drat
16Mar - glucose is better new meds are working staying on program /got DD to go for a walk! she who curls her lip at sunlight
17Mar - Guido (my chevy Corsica) is still in the shop. No weigh in in sight. With luck the pound is still gone. Thank you for your support.
