Default Returning chick says hello

According to the site, I was last here on 03-06-2007. The most impressive thing to me is I still remembered my username, and got the password right second attempt!

Trying now to see if my hundred and second diet attempt will stick.
Tiny precis:

2002 moved to my current job weight 242lbs.
Was really happy here and by 2004 had lost 106lbs.
Struggled for 2 years to stop going back up too high.
2006-2008 really grim years, personally and work-wise - got to 217lbs on 07-31-2008. Blood pressure not coming down fast enough, knees hurt, vein problems in legs. Argh.
Applied for new job on 07-31-08.
Started diet on 07-31-08.
Lost 5lbs by today (08-04-8).

Someone please keep kicking me up the bum (Eng.)/butt (Amer.) - don't want to be old before my time or dead!

Good luck, everyone.

Hi Ailidh. Welcome back and I hope you stay awhile. Getting old early is not fun or healthy so you'd better get with the program and find the fountain of youth by losing all that excess baggage. So hop to it, get going, forward march, and all that bum kicking stuff!!!

How abou a hug instead of a kick? The important thing is, you're back. I know how difficult it is to maintain the weight loss, i've been there, done that, bought the T-Shirt!! I am at goal weight right now, and I know the only way I can stay on goal is to continue to keep posting. I've found some amazing, supportive people here. So come join us for the loss and for the maintenance!

Thankyou! You are really nice people!

I've been working out my goals. If I could lose 8lbs a month (IF), I'd be at target by my big holiday (vacation) in June next year. Seems possible.
On that scale, I need to be 209 by 08/31 and am currently 211. I don't know whether it's better to keep on keeping on, I know the first few pounds are easy/water, and get ahead of myself, or to get to 209 whenever, then spend the rest of the month maintaining and take off again in September. Whatever, my head is still in a good place!
Hope you're all doing ok too.

As long as you are doing healthy things, I'd say keep on going -- the plateaux will come of their own accord. If, however, you are dropping your calories too low -- like below 1400 to 1500 at your current weight -- then you'd be wise to up them a bit or you'll find you have nowhere to go once you do get closer to goal.

Seems there are quite a few of us at that same height . . . vertically challenged.

It won't be long PUFFIN . . . you've got the post count, now you just need to do the time.

Hi Ailidh,

Well, I've got you beat because I haven't logged on since 5-16-2006, but you have me beat because I couldn't remember my user name.

Let's see, since 5-16-2006, I have been to TOPS, Weight Watchers...another online group, and have lost and regained the same twenty pounds a few times.

Ever the eternal optimist, I started back on my diet last Friday, and have lost 4 of the 21 1/2 pounds I've gained in the last 4 months.

I am another "stubby" person....and my high weight was 223 back in August of 2003. This morning I was 185 1/2. I sure know all about yo-yo dieting. But at least somehow or another, I have kept under 195 pounds, and haven't been back up in the 220's for almost 5 years.

I may be on my 102nd diet attempt too, seeing as how I've been dieting on and off since I was 19....probably more than 102 come to think of it. I guess I would weigh 500 pounds by now, if I hadn't dieted at least for those 102 times.

So maybe we can encourage one another, and keep that scales moving downward again.

Keep up the good attitude, chickie and you can do it. Just lose the "Diet" mentality and start thinking "life-style-change". You really have to find a plan or variation of your own that you can do forever.
