Wink I lost 125 pounds

At age 52 I decided I wanted to live. I attend overeaters anonymous meetings and I follow the food addicts anonymous food plan. It took me a year to lose my weight. I have kept it off for one year now.

That's wonderful! You might want to post in the Goals forum, since that's where we report our successes!

And also, be sure to join in on the Maintainers Forum if you're now maintaining instead of losing.

Thanks Mayson. I forgot to mention the book that saved my life. It's called "Food addiction-The body knows by Kay Sheppard. It answered all my questions and includes the food addicts anonymous food program.

I used that book before. I lost about 80 lbs about 10 years ago and kept it off for about 2 years before it started creeping back up. I still had about 60 more pounds to lose, but lost momentum and I couldn't stay on it any more. And I can't ever lose on the same diet twice.

I am trying Atkins but with my diabetes/nypoglycemia/hypothyroid, all it is doing is making my problems worse, so am looking for another plan.

Congratulations on your success. That's fabulous.

Thanks all. I think the best thing I learned in the book was that diets don't work period. That's why I like it so much. It's a healthy food plan and I get plenty to eat so I don't get hungry. It's not a diet

Thanks all. I don't know if there is an OA group in Quebec? Perhaps try a search on your computer and see if you can find any information? Or go to AA and check it out. When they say the word alcohol just change the word alcohol in your mind to food. My best tip for all is to just stop making excuses, put down the food and just do it-no excuses accepted. Life is always going to be stressful so just accept life on life's terms. Stop killing yourself with food!!! Food addiction is going to kill you if you don't stop!!! All of these food addicts are dying of illnesses that are totally preventable!!! Stop digging your graves with your own fork!!!There is no other way!!!! Make the decision today that you can do this and then do it!!!!
