Paula

Does anyone have any way to contact Paula? I'd like to contact her to see if all is OK.

About contact information - If you PM your email address, and/or phone number, and/or mailing address to me, I'll make up a Golden Girls directory and email/send it to you. It would be nice if we could get in touch with each other when we need to make contact.

The group that Phyllis and I used to belong to still keeps in contact (via emails) even though we no longer have a mutual website to visit.

Hi Zoe,

Aren't Ex'es grand? My dd no longer communicates with my Ex. I kind of wish she did. I worry that when he dies, she'll feel bad. However, he's so rotten that everytime she and he got together, she'd end up crying and being depressed.

The only good thing about him is that last time I saw him, he was fat AND bald. Tee-hee, I really enjoyed that. He used to nag me when I weighed 149. I think that's why my goal wt. is 150!

Theresa! 159!!!!! Omigawd! How awesome is that????? See? I TOLD you that you were the inspiration here! You just don’t let ANYTHING deter you...you just keep ON, and KEEP losing those pounds! Great going, girlie!!!!
And Karen! Wow! You girls are amazing!
And Moxie! You manage to lose weight while on vaca!!!!
And Cat! You too! 158!!!! Way to GO!
Bobbi! Nice to see you popping in again! LOVE the quotes!
Hey Phyllis! I just love seeing your smiling face on your posts! Always makes me smile, too!
And happy anniversary, Jo-annie m’dear! I hope you have an absolutely WONDERFUL day!
Happy 4th of July, Linda and Meowee-Linda, and Lily and welcome Carla, and welcome back from what sounds like a fabulous vacation, Lynn! I’ve been concerned about Paula, too. I wish there were some way to contact her. I remember her saying that her computer had fizzled, and she was checking in sporadically on her grandson’s, but that was a while ago. I hope SOMEBODY knows how to get in touch?
Looks like we’ll be cooking out again today. I had bought a TON of sirloin tips and jumbo shrimp & sauce for the last, somewhat abortive (for me, anyway) cookout and DS tells me there was a lot of the marinated tips left over, which she didn’t grille, and so she froze them. I guess she can pull those out. Hopefully, they finished off the shrimp, because that’s no good two or three days later. There’s a take-out seafood place about ten miles away that’s been there for years - since the kids were all little - and they have really GREAT seafood, which DS has been hankering for, so I do believe we’ll make a run over there, too, and get seafood for all who want it, as well. Dunno what else we’ll have, but I imagine we’ll eat well enough. That’s one of the things we’re pretty good at. In fact, starting TOMORROW, I will have to jump back ON PLAN, and won’t dare weigh myself for awhile, at least.
Well, off for my bike ride...gotta offset these extra calories somehow.

TTFN,
Z :dizzy:

Lynn...how sweet of you. I will pm my e-mail address as soon as I type this. What a wonderful idea. I met a person from B.C. Canada a few years ago on a diet site. We have been in contact for a few years now and have a fantastic friendship. I'll probably never see her in my lifetime but it's so interesting reading about her family, her life style, her home, etc. It sometimes takes me into her world. I love this idea, thank you Lynn. I think I'll like you to be my neighbor.

Wow no Fourth of July smilies -- well no matter Happy Fourth to all my American GOLDEN GIRLS!!!!!

I am sure you are all enjoying a fabulous day with family and friends (I am here at work LOL). I still keep forgetting to weigh myself but I feel so good in my clothes etc I don't want to ruin the great feeling. I will put my morning story on my blog today -- I really should be more diligent with my blog.

Karen - my late husband was a "practical" man too. I learned very early he wasn't romantic in the normal way -- gifts were few and far between. Now my sweetie is beyond generous and he loves being romantic - its rather nice at this stage of my life. Both men have fabulous qualities and its interesting to say the least.

Lynn - what an awesome catchup you did with the group -- I am not worthy LOL. I also have a thyroid problem and until your friend gets it under control weight loss is next to impossible. It took almost a year but my doctor was diligent about getting my meds correct. Your vacation sounds like it was wonderful - glad you enjoyed the lobster and the pictures are wonderful. I am trying to get my pictures into photobucket but until I have time on my computer at home it will still be a while. For some reason all the pictures we took are all at least 2mb (arghhhhh).

Zoe - vent away - that's what we are here for. Weight loss may have brought us together but this is truly a fabulous group of caring wonderful women and I am pleased that we all feel free to let loose when its needed. Ok this may not be what you want to hear but here goes (I am going to duck LOL). My sweetie's parents were divorced almost 30 years ago -- it was ugly and the damage to the kids is still evident (both were to blame in their own ways). I have only met his father twice and once was at a wedding last year with both parents attending (talk about tense). I do gently try to get my sweetie to try and reconcile with his father. My goodness he has (half) sister and brother he barely knows the names. But I still feel he only has one father and if he doesn't reconnect in some small way there could be regrets in the future. Estranged parents is a poignant topic with me -- we missed out on knowing my mom's mom because of an ugly divorce -- turns out we missed out on a great lady. I lost my own dear dad several years ago and from what I can see my sweetie's dad isn't horrid -- he just made the stupid mistake (stupid stupid jerk) of cheating on his wife - -but he loves his kids. Ok off :soap:

Bobbi - where in BC is your friend located? You just never know sometimes with online relationships. I have met friends face to face from North Carolina and New Zealand. I was actually involved with a great guy from NYC - during one visit he took me to Hooboken NJ and drove me past his cousin's old house. I called my mom to tell her and she called my aunt who was from Hooboken -- turns out she lived two blocks from his cousins and knew the family -- its a small small world sometimes.

Big hi to Moxie, Linda, Phyllis and Theresa. Lyn I know you are off vacationing. I should check back on the old posts -- didn't Paula have a website for her costumes? Lynn making a database of our e-mails is fabulous - I think I sent you mine once -- let me know and I will resend if you still need it.

Hi there GG's . . . :grouphug:

I'm back . . . the relatives have headed on to the next group in New Brunswick (DIL's side of the family is huge). So . . . . all six cats and their human serving wench (me) are planning to veg-out for the rest of today . . . we are all exhausted. But it was a great visit. However, I ate way, way, way too much . . . suffice it to say, I'm back up to 229.4 (so much for the 227that i saw a few days ago), but at least that is 0.4 down from last week, so I will change my ticker at long last. Must be all the extra walking doing multi-touristy type things along both the boardwalk and the beach saved me a little. We had what I would call perfect weather for the past couple of days -- warm but not unbearably hot; no excess humidity; and a lovely gentle breeze. More of the same today but tomorrow we are getting rain again. :(

All three of my kittens try to get in the Fridge everytime I open it. One of the adults . . . Purrecious, the calico . . . is also teaching them how to open kitchen cupboards. A lot of mine (cupboards not cats) are very attractively 'decorated' with masking tape to keep the doors shut.. Such fun.

At least I'm starting to feel better now that others have mentioned having difficulty with the emoticons, too. Actually, my son . . . the Geek with a Gun, as he calls himself . . . (many years as a computer espionage specialist in the Canadian Armed Forces) . . . couldn't even figure out why I couldn't get Theresa's instructions to work. He did show me a very long and convoluted way to actually get them to function. But, believe me, his way ain't going to happen either -- I barely understood a word he was saying. :dizzy:

Anyway, gang . . . got to get things moving and shaking around a few other 3FC places as well as here . . . have a great day and I'll see you later. . . :carrot:

Zoe, having the ex around must be stressful....being a widow I don't have that but we do have my DH ex and she use to be such a witch! She has calmed down in later years, she is about 8 yrs. older than me so that makes me feel really good....of course if I lost weight it would be make me feel BETTER! lol Glad your enjoying your son and family...it will be sad to see him go, I know when mine leave I still cry.

Lynn, sounds like a great vacation....with lobster & more lobster, one of my favorite things. I have never been to that area and that is one trip I would love to make one day, if I ever get up there I'll come to you for a list of sites to visit. Great idea starting an address list for us here.....nice women I want to keep in contact with.

All you ladies getting into the 150's.....wow, that is my goal. Your all my heros....congrats to all of you. I remember it's Theresa and Cat, I'm sorry I can't remember if there are more....I'll have to read over the posts again.

Thanks Karen for the tip, I had read about removing personal photos but forgotten.....I just hate the idea of having people coming thru our home all the time, we have the Doberman so we will always have to take him with us when they show our place, he wouldn't let them in!!! lol

Some of you ladies do the WATP dvd's. Mine doesn't use any weights. Question, you use 1.5 lb. weights? My DH does the walking with me now and I think he would like to include the weights, I know I am not ready for that as I can just barely do the 2 miles walk at this point and your right Lynn it is a hard 2 mile walk! I am getting in shape to walk miles at Disney World in Oct.
I don't know how far I can walk outside and it is too hot and humid to try, some morning I may get up very early and go to the park and see how far I can go.

Time to do my dvd.....so off I go.

Have a HAPPY & SAFE 4th OF JULY EVERYONE!!!!! Phyllis

floridarusty 07-04-2007 04:00 PM

Sorry Lynn forgot to mention your photos.....they are very good.

Linda glad you are joining us here. I love cats and they are just so into to everything aren't they. I'm still working on a way to do those smileys, if I figure out a way I'll let you know.

Joanne, I will check out you blog.....you sound like your doing great.

STarting to storm, getting off the computer......Hope it passes over quickly and doesn't stop the fireworks.....

Phyllis

Hi, Girls
I hope that all of you are having a great 4th.
I just finished cleaning up my kitchen, After feeding all the hungry folks at work.
I was amazed how few had family there to visit on the holiday. Kind of makes one sad.

What more can a person ask for?

I had an Idea about Paula.
Does anyone remember her website? If someone has the link… you should be able to reach her.

I promise…to be back tomorrow, going to go out with hubby.

Hi Ladies

What a busy summer everyone is having!!

Phyllis...I hope you like Disney World in October. I & family went over Christmas week....BIG MISTAKE....We would like to return...but will try a less crowded time....October sounds nice...let me know about the crowds!

Linda...thanks for the ticker support....for some reason I lost it on the instructions after it said to open 2 browsers. Maybe I'll even get brave enough to try the other sites! My baby kitten is learning NO, but right now I have rugs over the arms of the easy chairs...she loves to climb & claw!

Theresa...thanks for the fireworks....I think they are the only ones I will see. No family, & no plans to go anywhere. (woe is me....actually, I'm real OK with that.) No worry about the wt, I have a l o n g way to go to catch up with you!

Bobby....I agree with Rosanne about the riding vacuum cleaner....the thought of that is pretty funny, I can just see me doing wheelies on a vacuum cleaner!

Lynn...I will try to get the info e-mailed to you....my birth date is 9/11.
I love the vacation pictures....I would really enjoy seeing that part of the states.

Zoe...rant on....it gives us all a chance to join in!! My late husband had an ex...she claims to be a friend...and indeed she kept fairly friendly through it all. However, since my DH passed about 4 yrs ago....I have noticed that the few occasions that we get together, she enjoys trying to get under my skin. After we get through that, we find we have a lot in common....but I always wonder if putting up with the barbs is worth the friendship. Looks like we have all had a tough month in June...I always hate to weigh right away after I've blown it....usually takes me a few days to attack the scales, and then it's like putting one toe on at a time until I get the courage to eye ball the reading.

Hope you are all having a wonderful time watching the skies!
Blessing to you all!:grouphug:

I know her by "Oly". She and hubby Ken Smith lived by the Campbell river but retired and moved. Where??? But I keep in contact with her, she is the neat person that shares all the Maxine jokes with me. The island is not that big, maybe you can look her up in the phone book?

Zoe, I know you must miss your son something awful. My daughter has only been gone one day (they left at 5 yesterday morning and made it past San Antonio last night) and I am close to being in mourning!

We had a very low key 4th...just went to a restaurant close to here in a little town on the river, then were driving past a Belk's store and went in so my Mother in Law could catch a sale that was going on...then hit target so I could get a basket. I had a great seafood salad at the restaurant, then did my first "cheat" and ate ONE fried oyster off of my husband's plate...that really "set me off" last night and I was constantly standing in front of the fridge...I didn't eat anything "bad", but spent the evening grazing.

My husband's aunt and uncle are coming to pick up my Mother in Law this afternoon, so I need to clean this house desperately...have kind of let it go the past few days with so much going on. She will stay with them at their (rebuilt) house on the Mississippi gulf coast for a few days,( a really neat house that looks like a lighthouse) then visit with friends in New Orleans, then she's off to visit a granddaughter who has been living in Virginia since the storm. Our family has been pretty much scattered since the storm. My family has been in New Orleans for almost 300 years and my daughter was the only one left there...now she is gone, so it makes it doubly sad. Ah well, gotta move on I guess.

Hello all of you lovely ladies,
I am glad to hear that all of you had a nice holiday.
I see today that some of you had the same idea to get hold
of Paula. I hope someone does get hold of her. I wish I has kept
her website too.

Lynn
I think the email data base is a great Idea. I sent mine too.
Thanks for setting up the new challenge, I have not had time
for that this last week. I hope to get back to it by Friday.
On the subject of ex’s. I am so glad that I have been so blessed
with one great guy. Just listening to all of you makes one glad to have the
one good guy around.

Zoe,

Good going on the biking. I have not been to good at doing my workouts lately.
Got to get back to it today. I have no excuse, Just have not wanted to. ew. lazy butt, me.

You did good just going to dd’s party. It also gave you dear EX. a chance to see what he is missing now days.
Good for you. lot’s of women would not have gone at all.
Don’t be mad at your dd. She just wanted to be with her family she loves. Kids can’t stand to see parents fighting. You are good mom, to go for her.

Karen
you said the grandkids start school aug 6th. that is SO early for school to start up.
It is good they are excited. I hope they always love school like that.
I don’t have that ROMANTIC type guy either, But he tries very hard to keep me happy.
So its ok.
A wicker basket for a gift.
leave it up to a man to think that’s good. Its ashamed he did not think to fill it, with lovely things just for you.

Joanne,
Its good that you did not walk to the store that day they were already closed.
Lucky girl! ;)
I am trying to get my hubby to start walking with me. Maybe this week we will start. He is on vacation, So no excuses for him.

Well ladies I have slept late today. I need to get my 1st shower of the day. and go to curves.

hugs to all of you I missed. I am wishing all of you a great sunny day.
Back later this evening.

floridarusty 07-05-2007 09:42 AM

Well, ladies I blew it last night eating and drinking! I won't get on the scales for a couple days. We went out with friends which included a couple drinks & more food than I planned on...then went to another place which included homemade apple pie and homemade ice cream!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Only good thing I did yesterday was walk 2 miles with my dvd.

I haven't felt like this for a long time, sluggish from over doing. Not a good feeling....kind of a "food hangover". I didn't eat a lot at one time but just thru out the night and sweet things which I hardly ever eat.

Oh well, this is a new day!!!!

Moxie, Disney is always crowded but holidays are the worst times to go and summer because all the kids out of school & it is just too hot & humid then. We are hoping Oct. will be cooling off but still warm enough to swim which it should be. We live 2 hrs. south of Disney so we are driving up next week to check out the time share we are staying at to make sure it's a good one. It's a Sheraton so it should be nice.

Yes, Cat life moves along and things change....my son moving from Fl. to So. Carolina will be a big change for all of us. I am so use to seeing him a couple times a week.....he's the last one to move away from our home so it's going to be hard on me, I don't even like to think about it. My hubby says he was already "out of the nest" now he is "leaving the tree"!

Anyone else going to join the July challenge? Never to late, at this point it is only me and Lynn and we just started....it helps me be to be accountable.

Make it a good one! Phyllis

I just caught up on all the postings and I got a real belly laugh over the below post. Funny!

I checked back on the May Golden Girls posting and found Paula's post. I sent her a personal message and will wait for her to respond. I don't know what happened to her either, but if she doesn't check into the 3 FC's site, we have no way of getting in touch with her. Someone mentioned a e-mail address she posted, did she post that on the 3 FC's site? If so, we could go back and check on all her post.
