Default Help!

I am at a loss. Or actually I'm not at a loss and that's the problem!

Been dieting for 5 weeks and hardly losing anything. It's gotten so disheartening that I gave up for the last 2 days.

I work out 3-6 times per week (both strength and steady state cardio) and weigh and log all my food in my fitness pal. I'm eating about 1000 calories less than what is supposedly required to maintain my weight but still less that .5kg a week and hardly any change in my body fat percentage.

I can't seem to get a straight answer on the internet too about whether I'm eating too much fat or too much sugar or whether I should eat my exercise calories back.

Please help!

Sorry nobody's responded yet. Weekends are slow around here. Everybody is so different. What works for me might not work for you. Here is my experience when I'm simultaneously dieting and exercising. At first I always GAIN a few pounds. Usually about three weeks in I'll begin to lose but if I'm about to get my period the loss could be delayed another week or so. Also, fat is not my problem. It's definitely sugar that keeps the weight on me. YMMV

One thing that is for sure though if you just started working out your muscles will retain some fluid while they're healing. I admit five weeks does seem kind of long but who knows? The only tangible advice I have is to make sure you're drinking your water and if you're drinking more than an occasional artificially sweetened soft drink, Get yourself off them. That was huge (and really difficult) for me. I haven't had any nutrasweet in 19 months which is sort of amazing since for many years I drank about 2 liters of diet coke a day.

Thanks for your reply!

I know it must be something to do with retaining water or building muscle it's just super disheartening to see such poor results when I feel like I'm trying so hard!

I used to drink a lot of cola but I haven't since I started my diet. A few Coke zeros here and there but I know they're as bad as normal Coke anyway so I try not to.
