Thumbs up I finally got it.

I've always been told (and told several others) that it is way easier to break your weight loss into smaller goals (5,10,15,20, whatever) to keep from getting discouraged by seeing (with me 118 left to lose) a large number to go.
Well I made my new ticker in a 10 pound increment and this time I really see it as a goal to achieve. I'm not sure if I can describe it properly because I've always tried to break it down into small goals and then not care if I achieve them or not. This time I will lose the 5 pounds to make it through my first goal of 10 pounds since getting back on track.

I know Amanda has done this with some great success. I forget which target she's now.

I think I may break my weight loss goals up into 10lb increments after I reach 100lbs left to lose (5lbs shy of that now). Then I just have to lose 10lbs 10x and I'm there!

Yay! Awesome way to do it Dawnyal, not nearly as overwhelming this way. I like your new tickers, BTW, very cute!

Dawnyal, Thanks for posting. It really made me think I get so lost in thinking how much I have to lose... seems endless I did post that 10 lbs 10 times on my sig. but some how it's lost it's luster... you post has made me think about once again.
This is off the topic - that is really a nice picture you look very happy!

That's really a good point, Dawnyal. So many people are daunted by the numbers. While 20 more pounds to lose isn't that much, it's become by far the hardest challenge for me since I started this 80 lbs. ago. After reading your post and the responses, I think I'll change my ticker to five pound increments and make those pesky last 20 pounds seem more doable. [Edited to say. . .and I did change my ticker. ]

I know exactly what you mean! I've always focused on the whole weight loss and YES it is very discouraging! This time has been different and I think it's b/c I've worked my goals at 15 lb increments ... I really do think that's been a huge part of my success! Once I break my 45 lb mark I'll be reducing my goals to 10 lb each!

You're doing a fantastic job ... keep up the good work!

*btw* LOVE the new ticker!

I agree. I think I'll probably cry when I get under 220, that's about 10 lbs. away!

Thanks all for the kind words. I've been playing around in Photoshop to come up with it.

That's great news that you found a plan that makes sense to you. I like breaking things down into smaller goals. I did 10% goals of my total weight loss. So it was 17 lb goals for me. I'm on my last 10% already and I can't believe how quick it has gone.

I know exactly what you mean Dawnyal. I started this after I was 20 pounds down and now I'm working on the 5th 10-pound goal. It really seems to add up faster (I know it's exactly the same, but it's a mental thing). I just have to lose 10 pounds 5 more times. Doesn't seem so bad at all.

I've done it too. 199 was my goal for 31 August, 30 September and then 31 october, and I am still 10 pounds away!!! I think the numbers are becoming a psychological block. It really doesn't matter how long this takes, it's not like the clock is ticking, or the wick is getting shorter and a bomb is going to blow. I need to focus on the journey again, and on the lifestyle changes I have made, not on the numbers.

Thanks for this thread, it's nice to know I am not the only one who gets lost in the numbers game.

Kykaree: Good idea!! Sometimes deadlines get in the way of our progress. I'm considering giving up my timeline and just let the weight come off as it wants to.
