Jenny Craig Anyone?
Hello,
My name is Teressia, and I have decided to join J.Craig. I have been tracking Kirsty Alley's success and I am very impressed and motivated by her. I started my initial weightloss journey on May 27, 1998, I weighed 308 pounds. By Oct. 2000 I weighed a fabulous 201.4 lbs -- I was almost to my goal of 150 lbs.... In Dec. 2000, I was sexually assaulted on my first date. The experience brought back surpressed memories of sexual abuse from my childhood. I have been so depressed (emotional eater ) and I am now back to 307 lbs ..... SO I guess you can say that I am starting OVER!! I am going to join J.Craig this Friday (Oct. 07, 2005) and probably start officially on Sunday (Oct. 9, 2005)... I am almost 30 and would like to reach my weightloss goal of 175 lbs (changed slightly since 1998)... I am also going to workout everyday with Leslie Sanson (walk away the pounds DVD series).
I would really appreciate all of the support that I can get. I really have to do this and get this weight off. I have started to have chest pain and shortness of breath. I know that I am unhealthy and I don't want to die young... There are so many things that I have yet to do.. Namely, I would love to be married and have children one day (life long dream of mine).
Teressia

Hi Teressia, welcome to 3FC it's a great place for support. I'm not following the Jenny plan but I know that some people here are (only Nash comes to mind right now), but I will certainly help support you in any way I can.
I'm sorry to hear about the troubles you've had in your past, but now you have to focus on the present and future. It is good that you can identify that emotion has played a factor in your weight gain, that will give you an insight and starting point of how to manage it.
It sounds like you've already formulated your diet and exercise plan - just remember to stay true to it. You've been successful in the past and have the know how to make it work for you. Every plan works as long as you're persistent and stick with it.
Post often so we can get to know you better.

I'm also on JC -- I've lost about 172 pounds so far, closing in on the last 5 - 10. There's also a good message board on the JC site if you want some JC-specific help. I think it's a very good program, a great way to "retrain" for the rest of your life if you use all the tools, see it as a learning experience rather than a "diet."
Good luck!
P.S. I hope that you've had or are going through counseling to help you deal with your difficult past? You've certainly had to handle a lot, and just as there is no shame in asking for professional help with weight loss, there is no shame in asking for professional help with emotional trauma.

Welcome Teressia
I'm so sorry for all you've had to go through. But I'm also so proud that you've recognised the connection between the two issues and are ready to tackle this once and for all!
Post often, we're here for you and can't wait to get to know you
xoxo

Good luck to you... I cant do JC because there is no JC place anywhere near me, but I opted for the nutri system plan (both very similar) I was also motivated by Kirsty Alley's weight loss....I am about 12 weeks into my "food program" and have lost 22 pounds so far...
For me they are easy to follow in general and have great success..I feel you learn what real healthy proportions are...I am not a BIG eater, and even so, I never ate the right proportions....
I wish you good luck on the plan.......

Jenny Craig also has a phone-and-mail order plan, called Jenny Direct. You still get an individual consultation over the phone, and the food is shipped to you. The food is much better than NS food, as well. The cost is the same as JC when you visit a center, the only difference is that you pay shipping on the food.

Congratulations on taking the first step Teressia! And welcome to the forum. It's been a few years, but I did try JC at some point in my life and I loved it (cheapo that I am, I quit for financial reasons. Ohhh, if only I had stuck with it!
Good luck and keep posting!

Hi Teressia,
I am sorry to hear about what happened to you. No woman should ever have to go through something like that. Anyway, I started with Jenny Craig yesterday and I am at 272 lbs right now. I want to get to 150 and i am determined to have this happen. Right now i can't even function or walk for long periods of time, i have to lose 30 lbs before i can comfortably start walking at a good pace. Right now i nearly collapse. Anyway I love Jenny Craig, I was on it about 10 years ago and lost close to my goal weight, got sarcastic figuring i don't need to finish the program, well i did good for a while but then i had some experiences in my life that depressed me such as divorce, rotten boyfriends always calling me "porky" the more insulted i got the more weight i gained. I just had a baby 10 months ago and even then i was 240 and then went down to 220 but something between then and now (i got very very depressed) which i had a drastic weight gain of 50 some odd pounds.
Take care and its going to be a long road but one well worth it, once we start losing some weight we will perk right up

Thanks Everyone!!
For your support and replies. I applogize, I haven't been on in a while I was rushed to the hospital last week with chest pains (I thought I was having a heart attack).. Well, good news is that my heart is healthy. Bad news, they found a 3.0 centemeter lump in my thyriod..... I saw a specialist the other day and it seems that some of the depression and weight gain that I am experiencing is due to the thyriod trouble. I am now in the process of correcting that problem.... I weighed in at the doctors office at 301 lbs (I cried all the way home). I didn't get a chance to sign up with JC (being in the hospital and all), but I still plain on doing so.... Congratulation to the JC member that is almost at her goal... That is very encouraging !!!!
Thanks again for all of your notes of support and encouragement. I am very blessed to have found this place...
Teressia
