Default Feisty & Sexy 50 & 60 yr. old #131

Morning all!

Maria: Oh my Goodness! That is expensive! I would love to see Alaska sometime myself.

Ann: New car! Cool! Sounds like a nice van. Glad you got a good deal on it.

It has cooled off here. Nice and breezy. Yesterday was weird. We left our house to go on a ride and ut was nice and breezy. But up in the hills where it is also cooler it was hot. And our House was hot yesterday to, was actually nicer out side then in. Hummmmm, wonder if the Air is going on the fritz. ALAS... Hope not.

Ann how exciting to get a new van. Would love to have one just in Oct and Nov when I do craft shows. It would be a lot easier to pack than my little car. I am with you Lily - I would love to go to Alaska. But I would also like to see Australia - keep trying to win the lottery but it just doesn't happen. Hawaii is probably out of the question too - sounds like I definitely be on a diet there. We went for a ride yesterday to one of those little towns in Indiana that has a lot of shops. All of the men sit outside on benches and talk while the women shop. It is probably the same everywhere. Slavika your lake sounds nice and cool and relaxing. Where is Trudy? Everyone have a good Monday,

Default another magnificent day........

but there is a downside Due to the lack of rain, water restrictions will be imposed as of September 1. They are asking everyone to take shorter showers saving the equivalant of 1 bucket of water per day, per person. If this request is succesful severe water restrictions may not be put into force.
It won't make a great deal of difference to us but with all these weather pattern changes it does make you wonder about this global warming bit

Ann your van sounds great. I agree it is a nice feeling to have a warranty. I don't know much about the tax system either but in Australia each state is taxed the same on income, the tax does however vary from state to state on petrol, beer, cigarettes etc. The same here, it depends on your level of income at what rate you are taxed. If you are in the higher income bracket (and we are for the first time in our life) you are taxed at 47cents in the dollar From what we understand of dh's peers from the US, the highest tax they pay is 32cents in the dollar.
I am not complaining but that is just the way it is.

DH has gone to Sydney for 3 days and I have the place to myself. I will be going to get birthday gifts for the partners of both my children who have birthdays in September. Getting organised as I am participating to be out of action then with my feet.

Have a great day all
Cheers
Maria

Maria: Have you set a date to have the foot work done? I'm sure you will be happy once it is over and done with and you have comfy feet. We still need rain here, but have not had any water restrictions placed except for lawn sprinkling.

Lily: Hope your ac is okay. Tomorrow we are having our air ducts inspected for holes. The electric company is sponsoring the inspection. We pay $25 and if we need repairs, Tampa electric will pay $200 toward the repairs.. It sounded like a good deal to us. Hope we don't have to have any work done.

Just copied a chocolate cookie recipe from the WW news letter. If it is any good, I'll share it. 2 cookies= 2 points. Not bad if they don't taste like cardboard.

Peggy: Have you ever participated in a quilt block chain letter. I got one and after sending them out, so far I have received about 50 blocks of the 72 I'm supposed to get. I just found that one of my sendees never sent out her letter. It was fun anyway. Don't know for sure what I will do with the blocks, but some idea will probably come forth. All the blocks are varying shades of purple.

Hi everyone. 'See you tomorrow' Ann

Hi Everybody
Ann a new van, how nice for you guys. They certainly are the ideal thing to travel in, especially on holidays or if you have lots of stuff to take some place. Sounds like you got yourselves a good deal too.
Yesterday I bought a birthday gift for a dear friend who will be 60 yrs old in Nov. She's my friend who just celebrated her 40th Wedding Anniversary, at the lake last weekend. I bought her a "Swarovski Chrystal Friendship Puzzle Pendant". Actually it is two pendants, that fit together like puzzle pieces. A blue chrystal one for me and a Topaz one for her. They came with black silk cords but I am going to have gold rings made for them so that we can hang them on gold chains. I was very pleased with my purchase, and I think she will like it too. We have been friends for 27 years, and have had lots of birthdays between us. On my 40th birthday she gave me a a lovely gold charm on a chain that says, "Live, Love, Laugh". I have seen a few with the same words but never one as nice as mine. I still wear it
Had a really nice tea time today, although it was only
Trudy and I......... that's ok we talked enough for the gals that were absent.
"Talk" to you all tomorrow. Night.

It has finally cooled off!!! Slavika what a nice present you have for your friend. I am sure that she will love it. When we were in Iowa I saw the ceramic birdhouses that you got for someone a while ago. They were pretty and very detailed. Ann I have never heard of the quilt block chain. I bet you get back some nice ones. What are you going to do with them? Did you agree ahead of time on the purple? How about the cookies - did you try them yet? Maria what are you doing with your alone time? Well I finally did it and lost a pound this week. I was begining to wonder if that was going to happen. I hope that I can continue the downward trend. Since today is so nice and it has finally cooled off [thanks to the Canadian air] I am going out to do some yard work. Talk later,

Well, this is my first day back after taking care of little Austin for 2 days. Boy, did I have fun! His colic is gone, hallelujah! He is right on the cusp of laughing out loud. He smiles that big old goofy no-teeth grin and just tugs at my heart. His mama got about 1/3 of her mural done for the business. Her mama is taking care of him today and tomorrow. When we were in the city, we took one grandson to see the hotair balloon festival. It was so much fun, seeing them inflate those things and take off. We had a great time!

Slavika - I think your gift of the necklace is just wonderful! Is one for you and one for her?

Anne - a new vehicle! What a treat! Our car is 2 years old and we just spent $180 on the air conditioning and had to get a new radio! Don't think they make things to last.

When my son got married in Hawaii, they spent 10 days. They ate once a day (I am sure at fancy places) and bought only one meal for $70 and then had to add $7 so they could share. There are other places that are all-inclusive, that is, everything is paid for, but now Hawaii.

Have a great day! Glenda

Default ...much cooler today

Hi Everybody
I had a nice day out with my friend and a big lunch. DH is in a golf tounament today and will not be home until about 8:00 so I just had a toasted open faced tomato (from my garden) sandwich, for supper this evening. It was really good.
I bought the Princess another little outfit for her birthday (Aug. 30th). It's corduroy pants and and nice brightly colored sweater to go with it. She'll need some fall clothes for school, and this will be nice for her.
Peggy yes those little ceramic candle houses are nice and there are so many different kinds now. You can also buy little things to go with them, like ceramic people, dogs, cats, things like that. Congrats to you on your 1# loss.
Glenda sure sounds like you enjoyed your time with Austin, I knew you would. Yes, one of the puzzle piece pendants will be for me and one for my friend. I will give them both to her with a little note.....not sure how I will word it yet. I'm thinking about it. There are cheaper places to eat in Hawaii, you don't have "fine dine" every night, (unless of course you are on your honeymoon). Lots of restaurants in Maui are very reasonable as long as you do not have drinks. Alcoholic beverages can really shoot your bill up. The most expensive places to eat are in the hotels. Lot's of the restaurants have a 1/2 price special if you order before 7:00PM too. They also of course, have their share of pizza places, hamburger spots, and Asian fast food places as well. In Maui, you really need to have a car but in Honolulu you don't.
Ann YIPPEE! so your computer has arrived. I know you guys will really enjoy it, and yes you bet..... "GOOD LUCK " Let us hear how you are doing. Do you have disconnect your "webTV" (did I get that right) before you can set up the computer? Trudy hi, what were you up to today? Boy the weather was strange today wasn't it? I noticed in the Mall today that all the fall clothes are out. Last week there was just a few things.
Well gang, that's it for me today, hope you all have a nice evening. Night.

Default at last..........

Just back from the specialist and I am having my feet done on September 4 at 11.30am Not sure if I should smile or frown.
The doctor seemed to be very nice and I asked him how many people he had performed this surgery on before, he said 'do you mean how many times a week?' So he sounds like he is quite experienced, I mean you got to check out all those things His prognosis of the recovery did not seem to be quite as grim as the podiatrist. He said the first 2 weeks total bed rest but after that I can start moving about a bit. Never the less the total recovery time will be 3 months, which I was told before.

Glenda sounds like you had a great time with little Austin. It seems to be a thing here in Melbourne, just about every weekend we have balloons coming over our way, they are so close that I can see the people in the basket and see the flame getting a bit of a boost now and then. They are quite spectacular but I prefer to watch them from the ground

Ann smooth unpacking of your computer, you will love it once you get it up and running.

Slavika your gift to your friend does sound lovely, I have never seen that sort of thing before.

Peggy good question what do I do with my time alone, very little! I have found it very frustrating knowing that I have to get my feet done and the recovery time. There are some great short courses at the University here and I had also intended to join a computer club but have put everything on hold until my feet are right. Thank goodness that is now in hand and something is actually happening
In 1978 dh and I lived in Darwin and we travelled back to Adelaide via the East Coast. We had bought a large caravan for that purpose and the trip took us about 9 weeks. I kept a journal during this time which I am now typing out in MSPublisher with all the photo's we took. I thought it may be nice for my children who were 4 and 20 months at the time. It is quite a job and I am spending a few hours each day doing it.

Good to hear the weather is cooling down for some of you. Saw on the news the horrendous fires in California I hate bush fires they are so squary.

My sister in law and her dh are arriving this afternoon for 4 days, I better go and get some shopping.

Cheers
Maria

Default ....hi everybody

Maria oh, I'm glad you have your date set to get your feet looked after. I wish my Periodontist would call me, and set a date for the implants. I know I still would have to wait about 6 months after that for the work to be competed but I'm anxious to get the "surgery part" over and done with. He said probably not before the end of August or early Sept so I guess I just have to be patient.
Two weeks total bed rest is not so bad. You could read a few good books, or get some audio books, watch lots of movies, talk on the phone, and.......... over a two week period of doing absolutely nothing your finger nails will be looking great!
Enjoy your company over the the next few days.
Ann I hope the computer hookup and downloading of stuff is coming along ok for you. Thinking about you.
DH took our grandson to a baseball game this afternoon, and I had the Princess with me. We all had a good time.
Bye for now.

Hi All: Just a quick note. We unpacked all the boxes, took one look and we both said, we need help. So Friday an expert is coming to hook us up and give us some starting instructions. We decided that would be the smart thing to do.
We won't disconnect the webtv until tomorrow.
Slavika: Your friendship gift sounds wonderful and very unique.
Peggy: I didn't choose the purple. I just got a letter with instructions to send 2 6" squares with purple print, to six people. And to the person who sent it to me. Then take her name off, and add mine to the bottom of the list.So someone else chose the color. I still have one letter to send out. Would you like one? You could circulate it to all your crafty friends.
Maria: Glad to hear you have the date set for your feet. A relief to know so you can plan, and get in a good supply of books and movies.
Hi all. Talk you you Saturday on the new computer. Ann

Glenda: The hot Air Ballon Festivals are fun! Love seeing all those beautiful ballons! Sounds like you had a great time with Austin!

Ann: So the guy comes tomorrow to hook up the computer huh? I have set them up before, but I always have DH do mine at home. I trust him more than me

Maria: Not to far off to get your feet done. Bet you are glad that is settled. Not to worry you will be fine!

Slavika: Was that freindship gift the same type thing you showed us a while ago? Sounds like a great gift!

Been real crazy at work this week. We did watch a good movie over the weekend. Called Pay it Forward. Very good. And very sad to.

Night all!

Hi Everybody
I was doing a whole bunch of things today, like grocery shopping, carrying the stuff into the house, cleaning out the deep freeze, taking out garbage.....and then when I finished, about 5 minutes later, my back started to hurt quite a bit. I have never had any real trouble with my back, but it hurts about a hand width down from the back of my waist. I sent Trudy an e-mail and told her it was easier for me walk if I stuck my stomach way way out............very attractive. LOL
I loaded up on stuff to take to the lake tomorrow, but maybe we won't go, I'll just have to see how I am in the morning.
Lily hi there, how are you doing? No, Lily this present is different then the other that I talked about. There is a web site for Swarovski Chrystal, but the pendant that I bought is not shown. In fact lots of the pretty things they sell are NOT on that web site.
Ann I hope your computer expert has you all set up now and you are ready to try out your new "toy". I don't know how different it will be for you from your webtv.
Maria I guess you are busy enjoying your company...have fun.
Hope all you gals have a nice weekend. Talk to you soon.

Just a quick post for the weekend. We are going to go to a castle Sunday and Monday. It is in the Hocking Hills. No t.v.- no phones. If you want to see it look here www.ravenwoodcastle.com. We are staying in Rapunzel's Tower. Hope the weather is nice because there is a lot of hiking and caves in that area. Slavika take care of your back. Sounds painful although it is a good reason not to have to hold your stomach in. My son has a patient that he treated. He is a pilot for Delta. He gave my son 2 passes for anywhere in the world. He is thinking of Hawaii. I wonder if I could stow away in a suitcase. Ann how is the computer coming along? That is very exciting. You are getting all kinds of new things. None of my crafty friends sew - in fact none of them are too crafty. How is the sister visit going Maria? Have to go - I am coloring my hair and it time to rinse it out. Have a nice weekend. Hi Lily, Glenda. Karen and Geri.
