Hi all,
Looking for some help here. I've decided to take up running, but i have a really hard time keeping it up when i don't have good music to listen to. I can't keep up a decent pace and i get bored. So, i'm looking to see if y'all can recommend some moderately paced music for running/jogging. Remember, i'm a beginner, so nothing too fast. Thanks in advance for the help.
Christine
I think it depends on the type of music you like. I have a huge range of music on my iPod but I tend to like the faster heavier stuff while running. I also kind of like the goofy inspiriational songs like "Eye of the Tiger" and "America". Yeah, I know....but it does help to put those on when I am feeling less than fast
I don't know what type of music player you have but if you have some sort of MP3 player you can also try the different Podcasts that are out there. They have a wide range of stuff to choose from (talk radio format, goofy comedy and music..just to mention a few). When I am burnt out on musci I put one the podcast shows I have downloaded and the time flies by while I am running. If you are interested in the podcasts, let me know and I will send you a link on how to find and download them.
Hi there, I run to dance music, and music from my "single, bar days"...Basically, songs that make me wanna dance or get movin'

Don't know how old you are, but I walk(fast) a lot and I love the Motown stuff. I also have a KC and the Sunshine Band greatest hits that will get you going and keep you going. Anything from classical to rock will do the trick.

Wow paperclippy and jessie I pretty much listen to the same thing. Missy elliot, destiny's child (also beyonce), jay z, good charlotte are all good. I would also add in 50 cent as one of my favorites.
A new find that I really like are The Donna's which are more rock . Anything that feels good and is not s-l-o-w works for me.
Loving these sugegstions I am hearing some great ideas that I will have to add to my own mp3 player...BEP...
The new Black Eyed Peas cd, Monkey Business has a lot of fast songs on it...I'm enjoying it I also listen a lot to No Doubt, Nelly Furtado, System Of A Down, 311, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Shakira, Christina Aguilera, Weezer, Tom Petty, Led Zeppelin. The list I posted was my newest hip hoppish, popish playlist

Ahh, you just took me back to my day. Would you believe I say KC and the Sunshine Band and the opening act was Miami Sound Machine (featuring Gloria Estafan)
Listen to your favorite music. It's a great inspiration.
I listen to Clay Aiken while I exercise, and it helps me alot to listen to him because I'm trying to lose weight so I can meet him. When I'm not listening to him, I get un-motivated. So listen to something that will motivate you!
I LOVE THIS THREAD!!! What a great idea! I love to see what people are listening to to inspire them to greatness! (even if it is Britney Spears )
I must admit that the BeeGees really get my motor running. Here's my current playlist:
BeeGees: Stayin' Alive, Jive Talkin'
Stevie Wonder: Superstitious
Spin Doctors: Jimmy Olsen's Blues, LIttle Miss Can't Be Wrong
Steve Burns (Yes, the guy from Blue's Clues-He ROCKS!):Mighty Little Man, What I DO On Saturday, Maintain)
Rusted Root: Send Me On My Way, Ecstasy
Matthew Sweet: Where Do You Get Love, Girlfriend
Britney Spears Toxic
No Doubt: Just A Girl
U2: Even Better Than The Real Thing, Who's Gonna Ride Your Wild Horses
The Cure: Hot, Hot, Hot
Red Hot Chili Peppers: Give It Away, Suck My Kiss
Tom Petty : Running Down A Dream
ELO: Don't Bring Me Down (AWESOME!!!!!!!!)
Hall & Oats: You Make My Dreams Come True
Rob BAse: It Takes Two, Joy & Pain
Salt N Pepa: Shoop, Push It
Go Go's-We Got the Beat
I can't, absolutely CAN'T exercise without music!!
Personally I think the best type of running music is something fast and upbeat. I know this is going to sound silly but you should look into the Mortal Kombat soundtracks :P If you have ever seen both movies you'll know that they have upbeat and fast music. Thats what I use when I am exercising and I just love it
Techno, trance, and electronica work for me. It's hard NOT to get moving. But it can get a little monotonous after a while. I also like the cranberries a lot.
