Default Strange taste in my mouth?

Hi guys,
Just a question. I have a funny taste in my mouth, I used to get it when I was on Atkins, Ketone breath. I wonder if any time you lose weight you get ketone breath? I noticed it went away all along my last plateau - which I may or may not be out of right now (have been staying off the scale).
Anybody notice the breath/funny taste? It is annoying - but if it means I'm losing, I can deal.

Could be. Have you cut way back on carbs? What plan are you following? Your weightloss looks great!

I'm not on a special diet - just watching calories & working out.
I haven't cut down on carbs either.
It's pretty odd!

I noticed this too, for the first few weeks that I was losing weight. Almost a metallic taste? What is "ketone"? I don't notice it so much now, but it was really evident to me for a few weeks. I always meant to ask around here, but forgot. Glad you did. Hopefully someone can explain that. I'm really curious.

KTna, just want to say you seem to be doing a great job with your weight loss--congratulations!

Okay, I read a little on the .net about ketosis, so I get that. I do want to say, I'm not doing a low carb diet, although I am watching calories and am eating whole grains almost exclusively (as opposed to white bread, grains and pasta) along with lots of veggies and low-fat proteins, like chicken, turkey and fish.

Drink more water and get more fibre. That should fix it.

I drink about 100 oz water a day, sometimes more.
And I am also a vegetarian - so I think the fiber should be ok too, though I haven't ever paid attention to it.
I usually just chew some gum, but I don't have any handy today.

I hope it is a sign that I am losing because this plateau thing is hard to handle.
