Default anyone remember the old ww system?

Remember years ago in WW how instead of counting points you had to keep track of how many proteins, fats, breads, etc. you ate each day? Well, I kind of think that was a better system....at least for me. I find that on the points plan I am absolutely eating less calories than the trillions I used to eat each day but all my points are for things like bagels, icecream, chips. I'm eating just as horribly as I always was - just less of it. The old way forced me to eat good things (fruit/veggies - YUK!!!) and limit the things I probably shouldn't be eating anyway (carbs, carbs, and more carbs).

Default old weight watchers system

Hi.. I did ww years ago and most old diets are based on "exchanges" I think there was 2 bread servings, 7 oz meat, 2 fruit, 2 milk and veggies for the basic diet, which usually added up to around 1200 cals.... I think the diabetic exchange system is very similar if you check into that.... good luck, Barb

Have you tried Core? The new arm to W/W? If you follow those type of foods even on Flex it is basically the old selections (well in a way). However I am trying to remember the website and I'll keep look that has some information on the old selection program.

Also do you have the PointsPies so you can see how to divide up your points so it works sort of hand-in-hand Flex+Selections?

Like I said I'll still look and see if I can find that website for you.

This is from an old journal I devised back when we had ranges for points and to help people transition from selections/exchanges to Points. I believe the 0 in the () were additional for men.

I also remember there was a time when they did 250 optional calories a week and then 700 optional calories a week.

Not sure which plan this came from...maybe Quick Start or Quick Start Plus

Thanks for all the helpful info. Kelly, your chart seems to be exactly what I am looking for. I think mother nature is sabatoging my diet anyway. Today is my second weigh in (first one was canceled due to snow) and it's snowing again!!!

Well move here...we rarely if ever get snow! As a matter of fact by the end of the week it is supposed to be mid 80's.

Unhappy old ww diet

Hey does anyone have the old ww food exchange diet? If so can someone email me a copy and also how do you figure out the food exchanges on frozen dinners and such i need the formula. Please help me!!!! my email address is [email protected]

I have some info on how many calores a protein, fat, etc was at home. You need to do that and know how to multiply and it was really complicated. However most of the frozen dinners (as well as other stuff) has diabetic exchanges you can use that work well.

I do have the old info. That also worked for me, way back when and points were not strict enough for me when they changed., but of course I threw out all my old stuff like my leader said and got the new. Anyway, last fall I was trying to find this info as you are and ended up buying the old books on ebay. I think the following is correct; my info is in the bedroom and DH sleeping, I will double check it in the a.m. I think it was called the Freedom Plan.

Bread - 5
Fruit/Veges - 5 or more
Fat -3
Protein - 5
Dairy - 3
Optional 250 calories

Like I said, I tried this last fall, but it was too hard to figure out fast food and prepackaged frozen food since everything went to points. I'm doing CORE now and
pretty much think it's the same. Check us out on the CORE board.

Fats = 40 cal
Protein = 70 cal
Bread = 80 cal
Milk = 90 cal

thanks for the info, i lost all my weight on the food exchanges back in 1981,and everytime you ask weight watchers for that plan they say they discontinued it and no longer have that info. I cant believe that, ive even been told that by my group meeter last year. I think they dont want you to lose weight fast, they just want to keep you at a slow pace so they can keep taking your money. thank you so much

I've actually seen some of the old books at flea markets., for like $1 a piece. Might want to check that out if you need the food companion or the Fast food book. Like I said, I got mine off of Ebay last year, maybe keep checking that if you need these.

They want you to lose weight at a good rate of ".5 - 2" a week which is what nutritionist, regisitered dieticians and weight loss professionals recommend. Losing more than 2 pounds a week means you are also losing muscle which is not good.
