Talking Monday's Daily Thread

Morning girls (old, new and lurkers)!
I only have 3 days of work this week cos I'm off to Scotland on Thursday. I can't wait! I haven't been home since new year. BF is coming too and hopefully we'll go spend a few days at my parents caravan (trailer to you guys?) at the beach. I'm sure it will rain, but who cares!? I love the sound of rain on the roof when you're camping.
So, who all behaved this weekend? I did pretty good, especially on the alcohol front. And I went to yoga for the second week in a row. Boy does it hurt your arms - and boy am I inflexible!!
If anyone is over in London on the 20th do come to my party, we're hiring a room in a pub in Soho. Hopefully this year I won't drink so much I chuck up... Losing weight definitely means you get drunk quicker, which isn't always a good thing...
Right, lots of work to do, but thought I'd get the thread going.
More later,
Kirsty

Hi All,

I have a day off today yah! Me and a co-worker were discussing exercise points when you're walking around on your feet all day (which you do in retail), we do give ourselves a few and my weight keeps dropping anyway.... I need to go back into a regular exercise routine, I try to get a few hard workouts in every week and to weight train even just twice a week but it hasn't always worked out.

Other than that, I spent way too much at the Hull Casino on Tuesday (though my roomie won $100) and I saw AI on Saturday (boy was that movie sad). I get wednesday off as well where I'll most likely just catch up on all of my chores. My co-workers are a lot of fun and I am glad I took a job full of people my age for the summer.

Anyhoo, take care y'all and Kirsty enjoy Scotland.

I prefer Joey, but I in many ways relate to Jen more. The brooding teenager part especially. I wish they'd expand more on Jen's character since I think there is more to her then they'd always show. Joey's much more of a heart on her sleeve type girl. Anyhoo, I am 23 so I probably shouldn't be overanalyzing life on the show, but DC is an awesome show (luckily roomie likes it so I'll get to watch it a lot next season).

Take Care!

Hey everyone... I'M BACK! Camping was HOT. Saturday was very humid and HOTTTT... and the mosquitos were really bad. But we had fun. Emma wasn't quite sure of the whole thing, but she seemed to have fun! Sadie jumped into the lake. I got pics and video of it! She had a blast. When we got home the "kids"got baths right away and we took showers!! I had to give Sadie a bath because she was SOOOO dirty. Now she is beautiful and very fluffy!

I even got up and walked Sadie this morning. That is the first Monday morning in a long time I was able to pull myself out of bed! I ate OK... a little off, but not too bad. Yah for me. hubby likes to make eggs and bacon for breakfast... he says it is a must for camping. But I made the eggs and did half eggs, half whites. But they were fried in bacon grease. Oh well!

Belle, I think we have the opposite camping.... we try to stay cool here. I guess the mountains make a difference! I was in a skimpy tank top (hubby loved it) and shorts.

OH.... Goal that I want before vacation this fall... to fit into those new low rider Levis. I really want to be able to show my belly button. Although having a baby added more stretch marks... who cares! I want to be able to sing that song.. "I'm coming out!", meaning my belly button!!

AND... Joey made me sooo mad last season, so now I am more into Jen. She has really changed since she first came on the show. Alhtough I don't watch it that often, I catch it when I can! I was more of a 90210 fan when it was on.

Default Good Monday Everyone!

Well, I am at work early today. Always hate that on a monday. I am putting on this tax seminar (in the US the tax laws changed recently) and my mailroom did not get it out by Friday like they were to do. They MUST go out today and the mail room said they may not have time...so it is me. That is what I love about being a Marketing/Communication department of one.

Kirsty: The beach sounds very nice right now. IT is as hot in Peoria as it would be at the beach in the US, but, alas, no ocean. Oh well. In a few weeks I am off to the beach. Hope your sister is doing well.

I have your party on my calendar and will look at money to buy ticket to England. Boy, I really do wish I could come to your party. After I missed the Halloween party I felt like I missed all the fun.

Ali: I am glad you like your summer job so much. That makes work so much better. YOu really do seem to be doing very well on maintence. Great job! I bet once fall hits, you will get into a more natural exercise schedule. I think summer is hard bacause there are so many other things to be doing. And you get a lot of exercise without going to the gym.

I am going to ask my Dr. this week if I can sign-up for a prenatal water exercise class. I really miss being able to do something. I hope he says yes. And now that I found a swim suit (very mommy-blimp as my hubby called it) but it looks ok and has room to grow, I can do the swim thing.

Well, hello to all to post. Must get back to work. Trish

Oh, on DC, I guess this is where I really am 30. I only saw it once (I was maybe 28 or so at the time)...with my little sister who is now 23. Anyway, all I coudl think was "these kids are a little young for all this." and "Hey, is this setting a bad example?" So I have no opinion and don't know the people on that show. But, I really love Mr. Big on Sex and the City! And sometimes wish I could have those women's life. (but not always).

Ok, must go. trish

Hey Jen: we must have been posting at the same time. Camping sounds like it was fun. I have never been and don't see it in my future. Hubby and I both are not really camping people. BUt sometimes I wish I could be more one with nature. Hubby thinks I am crazy.

Kierie: I would be outside too if I did not have to work...but only for a while as it is to get really hot here.

I also want the low rider jeans. Guess that will have to be a while for me. Oh well.

I was thinking about 90210. You know, I loved that show when I was in college. That is about when it started. I did not think those teens did anything too much. really shows how your perspective changes the older you get. Strange.

Ok, really must get off line. Trish

Default Monday again

Well today is going to be long. My computer in my office is still broken so I have to sit in an empty cube. I have very little work to do and don't know what to do about it.

My weekend was very nice. Sorry I didn't log on on Friday. I worked at home. Actually I cut DH's hair (only takes 15 min) before he left to NC for a few days. And my dad arrived so we visited. I also got my curtains hung so was excited about that. I got all my work done but it doesn't take very long most of the time. I had a lot of reading to do which I did sitting on my deck in the sun, that was great!

LEt's see, on the WW front, I have done ok. Friday was fine, grilled chicken repeat of Thurs. Lost 2.2 at WI and am back near 160. I was very pleased about that. We eat out way too much when my dad is on town! Went out Sat for lunch and had delicious crab cake - no porb on points but I ate french fries Had BBQ Sat for dinner and ate too much 7 layer dip - 17 points over (earned 4 exercise points). Yesterday, ended at 29 which is ok for maintenance. We are going out for dinner tonight (again) and I don't know what I will order - great Italian restaurant I pakced low point lunch though.

Ok - poll: I like Dawson's creek. I don't watch it much anymore becasue it competes with other shows I like. I like Pacey and Joey.

Kim - Don't worry about the friend thing. One of my good friends from college was one of my bridesmaids but I was not asked to be in her wedding. I was a little disappointed but we don't see eachotehr much eventhough we keep in touch. Somethings change but at least you are still friends. I have gone through lots of friendship changes over time as well.

Jen - Glad you have fun camping. You did great on food!

Brenda - I hope toe IP won't catch you! Sorry about the hosue financing, I know you really want to quit working. LEt us know about that house you looked at, sounds really nice!

JenK - Welcome! I have lost 34 pounds and on maintenenace now. We have a great group!!!

Kierie - Way to go on regular sizes! That is so exctiting. Now get outside!

Trish - I am glad to hear that DR appt went well. Don't worry about the weight gain. It is better to gain too much and level off. Water exercise sounds great!

Ali - Glad to hear from you again. I am sure in retail you are getting good exercise. Is maintaining getting any easier?

Kirsty - I don't know how you party so much? How are you able to go out drinking so often and not gain weight back? Have a greatt ime on your holiday. I hope the weather will be good for you.

I'm sure I'll be back throughout the day. Hi to Belle, Lolly, Tonya, Shaylene, Steph, Becky, Emily (where are you?), Janet and everyone!

Default Sorry I've been MIA

Hi all! I've been MIA for a few days because work is a little hectic. I've also been trying to study for the GMAT a little more so that I can get my applications in by January. School won't start until fall of 02, but you have to have everything in by Jan. of 02. Hopefully I'll do well on the exams and be able to get into the school I want. Other than that, DH and I are getting psyched up about the move to the new apartment.

Jen and Belle ~ The camping sounds like such fun! I have been camping my entire life. My family owned an RV growing up, so we went a lot! In the winter we'd go around texas, but the summers were in colorado. DH and I like to go whenever we have time.

Well I need to run (internet police on my back ). Hi to everyone out there and welcome newbies!

Good morning all! I'm still trying to learn everyone's names and stories, so forgive me if I seem to be ignoring anyone! Had a great weekend, even though the weather here was terribly warm and humid (esp. Saturday) - what else could I do but lounge at the beach?! I still managed to jog on Friday and drag my butt to the gym on Sat. and Sun. I am really trying to get back into the swing of things and lose a few pounds...I am feeling very motivated today and hope that it continues!

Trish - I am with you...I have only seen Dawson's Creek once and I remember thinking how young the characters seemed! I related much better to 90210 (and still watch the reruns on Sunday mornings! ) and love Sex and the City. I also sometimes wish my life was like theirs!

Jen - Glad you had fun camping. I see you're in WI - if your weather was anything like Chicago's, I'm impressed you were able to stay outside all day on Saturday!

Hi to everyone else! I'll check in later!

Talking Q

YIPPEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Goran Ivanisevic won Wimledon! It just finished half an hour ago, they had to play an extra day because of all the rain. I have been a TOTAL Ivanisevic fan for about 10 years and so I am THRILLED!!!!!!!!!! But now WImbledon is finally over I have to start working again At least that means I will be back here more often though ...

Blokey and I are committing again to healthy eating, he has even started following the WW plan, using the CD we got over a year ago. He's really into tracking his points! We've decided to start walking again, as well - on Saturday (weather permitting), we plan to go out for an all day walk somewhere funky like the Ridgeway or the Icknield way - they're ancient pathways, and there are all sorts of prehistoric sites along them. Ace! We even went out twice yesterday, for about 45mins each time. I'm still using the fitday.com journal and I love it. Are any of you guys using it? I can't get over the nutritional info - I eat a pretty balanced diet, I make a bit effort to eat variety and to get in the nutrients, but I am still falling so short. Thank God for multivitamins!!!

BTW, I have never ever seen Dawson's Creek. I've seen 90210 a few times (always seems to be the same episode!). As you will all no doubt be painfully aware, I LOVE BUFFY AND ANGEL!!! Blokey and I are totally devoted to both, we buy the video box sets as soon as they come out, but because we're so far behind over here (series 5 hasn't started on terrestrial tv yet, and only the first 11 episodes are available on video) we have to try really, really hard to avoid any information about what happens int he episodes that haven't been shown here yet. And yesterday the ******* Observer newspaper ran a half-page 'news' story about how they're going to make another spin-off series about Giles, and it was FULL OF SPOILERS including the biggest one of all. I am SO pissed We are even thinking about writing to the Observer to tell them how miffed we are (or would that be sad?).

Ok, that was a rant, but CAN YOU BELIEVE IT??!

Going to practise calm breathing now ...
hugs!

Lolly

Default I am so bad being on the Internet all day. I am going to get fired!

But i miss you guys if I am not. Oh well.

Jen2: I grew-up in W burbs of Chicago. Glen Ellyn. I live in Peoria (downstate IL) now. Hubby is from Peoria. I am in Chicago all the time! Small world. Welcome!

Lolly: I wonder if all the people with tickets on Sat got to go back on Sunday to see the women's final? Your walking trips sound very fun! Great plan! Oh, and I WOULD write the paper and tell them your thoughts! That makes me mad!

Kay: Good luck studying!

Sarah: See, you will do great on maintance!!!! I hope the weight levels off. If I keep gaining at this rate I will have so much to lose. I have really tried to curb my eating and only eat healthy things. No extra sweets (ok, maybe a little ice cream...but that is all!) one thing that hurt is the lemond aid that I have been loving lately. I was so sick of water and trying not to drink pop...but is sugar water with lemon color any better? I think not (boy does taste good).

Ok, really must get off line.

Good morning everyone!

Jen 2 ~ Welcome, you will love it here, a great bunch!!

Trish ~ It is too bad about the IP, we love hearing from you, post when you can!

Lolly ~ Glad your guy won, but I am happy the games are finally done, it was interrupting my soap!!!

Kay ~ Good luck on your tests, I am sure you will do just fine!

Sarah ~ You are doing just wonderful, maintanence will be no problem, just have to find your groove, and at what points you can maintain at!

Hi Kierie!

Jen ~ Your camping outting sounds great, I bet it was a wilty weekend though, it sure has been hot and humid here!!

Ali ~ Have fun on your day off! I am glad you love your summer job, it makes life so much more enjoyable!

Kirsty ~ Scotland sounds wonderful, it is nice to have something to look forward to. Hopefully the next few days don't drag on too long!

Hello to all the lurkers out there!!

I had a good weekend, and had last Friday off, did lots of cleaning around the house and played with my children. We had a company picnic for my DH on Friday night and took our kids ATVing on Sunday, they had a great time. Eating hasn't been too bad for me. We did have pizza last night though, so I am trying to watch it this week. Honestly it is so hot here, eating is the farthest thing from my mind, so hopefully I lose this week, I have 1 month before my SIL wedding, and I still would like to lose close to 10 pounds, hopefully I can get at least 5 pounds off. I am starting to do Tae Bo at night, would like to walk but the humidity here, even at 8 p.m. is terrible, so walking is on hold. My treadmill doesn't come in until the beginning of August, so video workouts are my answer now.

Work is slow and boring right now, students and faculty are on summer break, so quiet is the word for the summer here.

My goal for the week is drinking my water, in addition to keeping my points in check. I am also trying to make some healthful dinner choices too. Need some new receipes, kind of in a rut lately.

On the friends issue that was brought up....I have several friends that are fun to go shopping with or out for drinks occasionally, but really have 2 very close friends that I share very personal things with. One has been my best friend since middle school, and she even lives 1500 miles away, and we are still very close, the other has been a very close friend for about 8 years, and happens to be my SIL, she lives very close. I agree with whoever said, "you should feel lucky to have at 1 or 2 very close friends in your lifetime!". It is very true that the high school/college friends for the most part drift away, also the friends that don't have similar lifestyles to yours drift away too. I have friends that aren't married or have children, and I honestly don't really enjoy going out with them, we just don't have much in common any more. They are into going to the "meat market" clubs, and I just don't do that, not looking for "Mr. Right" anymore!

WOW! Am I a rambler today or what!! DH is working third shift this week, so the kids and I are on our own again. I have so much going on this month and next. My SIL bridal shower and bachelorette party is the 21st of July, (so is my 30th birthday!), then we have relatives in town from NJ for two weeks in August, plus SIL wedding is August 11th. My cousin is having her baby shower July 28th, and the Matron of Honor in my SIL wedding and myself still have to shop for the bridal shower and get the gag gifts for the bachelorette party. Plus we have final fittings for the dresses this Sat. Holy cow! I'm running out of time!!!

Anyway, I am boring you all to death, better go....later!!!
