I am cutting and pasting what I posted on my thread from yesterday as my hands and arms ache from the accident. This all happend about 11:50 am yesterday and I feel like I went 4 rounds with Mike Tyson this morning. Hope everyone is well as no one posted yesterday, which is amazing! Here is from yesterday:
Sorry I didn't get back in here earlier, but dd called and wanted me to go out shopping etc with her and we were involved in a car accident. Some noodleheaded lady pulled out of a side street in busy traffic and broadsided us and then pushed us across traffic and rearended us and pushed us up into someone's yard. I am pretty sore from being jostled and dd bruised her leg and strained her back. I told her if she is worse tomorrow to go to the dr so the nut cases insurance has to pay. The woman was really nasty and wouldn't let dd see her insurance info and when the police got there, they made her give it to my dd. On top of that, my dd called her mil to come and get us and they lived across town and we ended up with everything from my dd's car and my poor grandson sitting on the grass while they took her car to the wrecker lot. It is freezing today and my dgs gets pneumonia every year so I took my coat off and bundled him up in it and told him to keep warm. Anyway, he is fine and the two of us are sore but ok. The car is a mess and may be totaled because it looks like the frame may have gotten bent. On top of all this, the woman had an 18 month old in a newborn infant car carrrier and not a carseat and dd told the police and get this, he said, "I hate the carseat laws here." He refused to ticket her for it and dd raised the roof and told him off saying, he had no right to make judgements of his own, we had carseat laws and they are supposed to be inforced! The lady's insurance agent warned dd not to tell anyone else that the baby was in the wrong car seat, can you believe it? I told her, to blab it to everyone including her insurance company as the woman needs to get that little one in a carseat and be protected.

I can't even remember if I posted on the previous thread yesterday or not and I am too lazy to go back and look.
My stepmom's brother died and the funeral is Thursday, about three hours away from where we live. She told me not to feel that I had to come but yet I feel guilty when my stepsister and her husband from AZ are driving here to go. I wouldn't give it a second thought except I am hosting Christmas Day with no sign of any preparations yet. Someday I will get organized!!!!!!
My friend from card club died today. Her funeral will be on Monday. I just can't believe how fast she went. They are pretty sure that the cancer was ovarian without any warning signs.
"Gma" -- I am so sorry to hear about your car accident! I hope that the other driver has good insurance if your dd's car was totaled. Don't let the aches and pains go without being checked out by a doctor. MIL called last night and the guy's (responsible for her accident) insurance is saying they won't pay any more medical bills because she has hit the limit of $5000! She probably hit that the first day in ICU is my guess. Anyow, DH's brother is getting a lawyer for her. MIL is getting daily home health care plus therapy so I'm sure she will have lots of bills rolling in.

We had a lovely day here in the mountains. The fog is in the lower levels but the sun shown up here like a trouper. I made my famous crock pot beans today and company loved them as usual. I served them with garlic toasted french bread and for dessert that WW Key Lime Pie recipe. Went over great and sent some home with the hearty eaters. I got a Christmas card from a cousin whose mother ~ my aunt ~ passed away a few years back. Inside the card were some old photos she thougth I might like to have. YIKES some of me in my teens ~ I was probably 10 pounds over weight then and would love to be just that much over weight now. Life is good. I didn't post yesterday because when I tried to get in I got a message that the board was being worked on and to come back later. So it is later and here I am. Looks like some of the officers will be stopping in on Christmas to eat with us who have to work on that day. What fun. One who is just "on call" that day will definitely be here and any others are welcome to come.
FAYE that woman who hit you is in for a rude awakening if it is reported that her child was not properly seated especially since she was the cause of the accident. Don't let that officer get away without reporting it. I don't care if he doesn't like the law he is still supposed to uphold it or get another job. If I were you I would get checked out by a doctor. Things can show up later that are caused by this tossing about.
JEAN funerals usually come in three's. I just heard that a dear person back in TN passed away last year. But that doesn't count toward your third one. Speaking of folks passing away ~ did I tell you that I got a letter through snail mail telling me that Jan in Kansas died. Keep warm. I think I will go get some egg nog ...... I have some egg nog ice cream and some egg nog - maybe I should make a shake. YUM.
Jean: So sorry your friend passed, but I know she must have been truly miserable with everything that has happened to her in such a short period of time. As for you MIL, she needs a really good ambulance chaser. We have a bundle here and all of them go for the throat! Insurance companies try everything they can to keep from paying. My dd, dgs and I are all fine. I feel much less sore today. We are keeping an eye on me developing headaches and or neck aches since after broadsiding us she rearended us. My dd is a huge advocate of car seats so I am sure she won't let this rest.
Maggie: It is too cold for shakes here! That does sound yummy though. I love Baskin Robbins eggnog ice cream. Jack has a fondness for egg custard. His friend told him that was like eating melted ice cream and Jack said, "So what's wrong with that?"
It rained really hard this morning and they are predicting snow flakes this afternoon so of course the whole town panics. They has us on a winter watch though we are not expected to get more than an inch. These people are crazy here!

Today was the last day of school before our "winter" break . . can't call it Christmas break anymore, you know. One of the teachers had an open invitation to an end of the semester party so I stopped there for an hour before going to bell choir practice. After practice DH and I went to the grocery store. Everything is sitting on the counter and I will regroup in the morning.
It is cold here tonight -15 wind chill. I'm hoping all of my outside orphans have found a place to snuggle in out of the wind.
Maggie -- It sounds like you will have the revolving door on Christmas. It's nice of you to provide food for your officers and I'm sure they appreciate it. I've heard that funerals come in 3's and they did the last time -- my grandmother, my dad, and my uncle. All were within 6 months of each other.
"Gma" -- I had to laugh at your description of the snow panic. When we lived in Ohio it was the same way. They rarely got snow and would stay home if 2 inches accumulated -- DH was still riding his bike to work and I'd take the car wherever I wanted to go while the natives would wait for it to melt.

Morning ladies. Wanted to peek in quick before we leave. We won't be back until Sunday so wanted to be sure and wish everyone a MERRY CHRISTMAS
The weather turned bad here yesterday. After the heavy downpours, it started to sleet and we got 4 inches of sleet. Took me an hour to go and pick up Jack (usually takes 15 minutes) and took us 85 minutes to get home. Took Jack an hour to get to work this morning too. It is just plain nasty on the roads and the temp is in the low teens so it won't melt.
I need to go and finish packing and get ready. Jack gets out early today from work and then we are off. Luckily, it is only 40 miles away. Make take us 2 hours to get there though! EVERYONE HAVE A GREAT HOLIDAY AND NOT TOO MUCH FOOD NOW! HOPE YOU ALL GET A GREAT PRESENT FROM SANTA AND TIME WITH YOUR FAMILY IS WELL SPENT!

HO HO HO -- another Christmas has come and gone at our house. I've been up since 5 AM and I am heading to bed. I think that everyone had enough to eat and a good time was had by all. I hope each of you had an enjoyable day too. See you tomorrow!
Just checking in to say, "good night." It was a "put things back where they belong" kind of day at my house. I slept in which is very unusual for me. I put in two very long days so I suppose I needed the extra sleep.
Tomorrow is my friend's funeral and I'm really dreading that. I just have a hard time believing that she is really gone and it is so unfair!

Good Morning Ladies! I am back from the casinos. It wasn't as fun as we had hoped, a big part being the weather was so bad. The roads were a sheet of glass and very treacherous, so we stayed at our hotel/casino and didn't venture to the others. We did go to dinner on Friday night with dd, sil and dgs and they came back to the hotel and we had Christmas. Thomas loved his gifts, but he said to me, "Nonny. you gave me everything I asked Santa for, maybe he won't bring me any presents." I assured him he would get more presents. We bought him this thing called Robosapien. It was this remote controlled robot and it was a hoot. It was about a foot tall with claws for hand. It could pick things up, high five you, it did karate demonstations and danced to music it played. If you bumped into it, it said, "Ouch!" We took it out into the hallway of the hotel and had a blast with it.
Jean: I will keep you in my prayers today knowing you have to face what you do. I know it will be hard for you.

Happy Monday! The sun has come out and it is a nice 33 degrees in my corner of the world. The streets are wet from melting snow and people are out and about downtown. We ran a couple errands after the funeral this morning and now I should get busy. I think I have all the extra Christmas bags and boxes rounded up to recycle for next year. If they are in good shape I just can't throw them away. I try to get all the Christmas related items rounded up together so that when I put them away, they are all together. There is usually one that I will miss and stick somewhere out of sight, then forget about, until I am looking for something else. I have no ambition this afternoon!
"Gma" -- I was pleasantly surprised about the funeral. Even though there were tears, the pastor had a way of speaking that made the funeral more of a celebration of Sue's life than being sad about her death saying that knowing she would never get better, we couldn't wish her pain and suffering for our benefit of still having her with us. Because she was the office manager of a medical clinic, it was closed for her service and all of her coworkers, doctors, and nurses were there. She really looked nice and I was pleased because I know how "bad" people can look after a bout with cancer. By the time we got around to our immediate family opening gifts, Ian and Maddy were beyond any interest, until we brought out the wagon. We should have given that to him earlier in the afternoon, and had the dads take them outside for a ride and some fresh air. Sounds like T made a haul too!

Well, we got through Christmas alright but it was that day after that was a doozy. Started snowing early Sunday morning and kept at it til this morning....about 12" in all. The plow came about 12:30AM and I heard him and noticed the bright lights outside of our bedroom window (overlooks the driveway). He came again this AM so we are able to get out and about.
Christmas was great, especially Christmas Eve when we celebrated Sean's 13th BD. Got him a hand held Texas Hold'Em game and he was in heaven....loves to play poker. We also brought all the Christmas gifts with us to the BD party and the kids open them before we left. Kerri, 10 1/2, loved her Emeril cookbook, chef's had and apron. Got Sean everything baseball, Red Sox, of course. PJ's, baseball, penanant, hat...thought we had given him the mint he was so happy. Later we stopped at DD#1's and gave them their gifts. Cam, 11, got another themed gift but this time it was the Patriots. Mike, got a gift certificate to his favorite music store and was happy.
We received calls from NC on Christmas Day and could hear a lot of commotion down there. Cat, 3, yelled at her father that it was her turn on the phone and she took it and proceeded to ask if we were coming over. Boy, it was hard to say no but maybe next year.
DD3# called and they, too, had a great Christmas and the Art Kit, Detective Kit and Ballerina outfit were well received.
Makes all that running around worth while. We are waiting for after Christmas sales and I am getting a new chair for my computer table and DH is getting a new 12' step ladder....I won't let him use the one he has as the metal is all fatigued and it is unsafe. These are not very romantic gifts but it is what each of us wants.
JEAN: I'll bet Ian & Maddy loved the wagon and as spring arrives they will be scrambling to see who gets it next.
FAYE: Yes, our grandkids do get spoiled but why have them if we can't spoil them. When the kids were little we used to put away some of the toys after Christmas and pull them out when the ones they were playing with got boring.
MAGGIE: Hope you and Cowboy and Turn had a wonderful Christmas.

I was up at 1 AM this morning not being able to sleep. Got up and did some chores downstairs until around 3:30 AM then went back to bed until 6:30. My back and shoulders have been bothering me (muscle cramping) and I am guessing it is probably from the accident. I get up and move around and they seem a lot better. It does mess with your sleep though.
Gloria: Sounds like you had a fun Christmas. We have such a tiny family with just our son and dil then our dd, sil and dgs and since they don't live close to each other, we usually have Thanksgiving with ds and Christmas Eve with dd and family. She has Christmas day with his parents and they always will. His mother made it quite clear when they married that nothing else would be acceptable so we swallowed it and have Christmas Eve with them every year. We had Christmas with ds and dil when we were up there for Thanksgiving. My dil doesn't buy cheap and I knew that so asked her for towels this year! Got 6 of the most scrumptious thick big towels you ever saw and we are thoroughly enjoying them. I got really nice towels 3 years ago from dd for Christmas and even picked them out. Goldsmith's here had a huge white sale before Christmas and I got $12 towels for $3 apiece so she bought me like 15 towels. They are still good but starting to show their wear and tear a little. I am hard to buy for as I have everything I want so buying home things make me perfectly happy.
Jean: I have long felt that funerals should be for the most part celebrations. I worked at a Christian school as a secretary to the principal years and years ago when my son was 2 years old. We had a man that taught history who was a retired Weslyan Methodist minister. He was this lovely Godly man, reminded me of Jimmy Stewart, and he said that when his mother died, they threw a huge party instead of a funeral and that everyone sang great hymns and talked about her life and even her death as a wonderful part. I want to be remembered that way not all shadowed in sadness but in light. I mean, I will be where there are no worries, no pain, no sickness and would not want others to grieve for me.
We stowed all the Christmas stuff yesterday and I cleaned the downstairs while Jack went and had the car checked out. The check engine light has come on and it does this bucking thing like it isn't getting gas when you try and speed up. We thought it was another sensor gone out, something called a MAP sensor, but it was our plugs and wires. They are supposed to last to 100,000 miles, but we use the car so much, they have worn out so we have to get it in the shop this week. Like you, Jean, I always forget some decoration, usually something on a door etc that isn't visual and I am still 100 percent as I forgot this macrame angel hanging where our car keys are. I just put it in the kitchen desk drawer and will put it away next year. The stuff is already in the attic and I don't go up there! We then decided to move my computer down to the living room so that it will be within reach when I start making candles. We were pretty tuckered out when it was all said and done, but it is nice a quiet and still this morning. I am going out later after the temp gets up and the sun out and scrap some more ice off the sidewalks. I couldn't even go and get the mail yesterday because it was too slippery for me to walk. I am sick of this stuff and want it all melted and gone. I don't mind snow, but ice keeps me totally in the house as I am deathly afraid of walking on it with my knee the way it is. We are supposed to be in the 60's by Thur though with rain so it should all wash away. Temps are going to be above freezing at night too, which will help.

The sun is playing hide and seek this morning . . more hide than being seen. The weatherbug says it is 31 degrees right now with just a slight breeze. No snow so I will not complain! I've been picking up things as I move from room to room and either putting them away or else making a pile to pack away with the Christmas stuff. I found a book that I've kept track of our Christmases and New Year's since 1965. I couldn't help but sit down and read through where we've been, with whom, and doing what. Memories are fun while some are sad. Anyhow, the dishwasher is done and I should put in a load of clothes and scoop out the litter boxes. I knew you all would find that interesting. Hah!
"Gma" -- We didn't sleep very well last night either! It was 2:30 the last time I looked at the clock. Not too long after that one of the cats took a tour of the bed and she always plops down between the pillows and puts her paw on DH's face. She never does that to me and I'm glad. I cat napped in front of the TV during the evening so that was my excuse; I could use a nap right now! DH thought the house was too warm but didn't turn his electric blanket off either. I need some new towels too! I have all of my mother's and they are the shorter version (a bit too short and thinner). DH likes the big thick long ones and I like the middle sized ones. . . .sort of like the 3 bears.
