I asked the question about the wrapping paper because I'm known to spend more on the paper & ribbon then the gift! No really...I LOVE to buy fancy paper and buy matching bows, ribbons and gift cards.

Shelley,
Our last day of school is Tuesday. It's a half day. When the kids leave at 11:30, we're having our staff Christmas party. Then we won't have to go back until Jan.5th. I can't believe you work all next week!!

Happy Birthday Allison!! Tell Mommy to give you a big b/day hug from me!!

Where Is Everyone????? Please Post Soon!!!!!

Allison says thank you for the birthday wishes!!!!! She opened present from us earlier...tomorrow we will have the party with the Grandparents.

I LOVE pretty packages! I'm thrifty though...usually I go with victorian like designs and just use one matching bow. I use the little self sticking labels. The nice thing with Steve off the week of Christmas~~~he will do all the wrapping! I just sit one thing at a time out in front of him and he does the rest!

Shelley, your outfit sounds very pretty and festive! I KNOW you will look gorgeous! I finished all the Hospice cards, I have until Jan. 10 to do the special order, so I will wait until after Christmas.

CLEANING HOUSE TODAY~~~~CAN YOU SAY YUCK!!!! :-)

Where Is Everyone????????

We had a fun day with Debbie & James. I bought 4 gifts...Woo-Hoo....On a roll now!!

It did help me get in the Christmas spirit some. Remember last year when we did Christmas Carols? I thought it would be neat to do it again....I'll start...Please join in!

Rudolf, the red-nosed reindeer
had a very shiny nose.
And if you ever saw him,
you would even say it glows.
All of the other reindeer
used to laugh and call him names.
They never let poor Rudolf
play in any reindeer games.

Then one foggy Christmas eve
Santa came to say:
"Rudolf with your nose so bright,
won't you guide my sleigh tonight?"

Then all the reindeer loved him
as they shouted out with glee,
Rudolf the red-nosed reindeer,
you'll go down in history!

Sherry-Thank you for the card. Your family looks wonderful! Who is the Santa in the picture?

I couldn't find a thing yesterday when I went shopping. I've never been this much of a last minute shopper before. I figure I'll see it when the time is right, though.

The wedding I went to yesterday was wonderful and laid back. It was at the Holiday Inn. There was not a dry eye in the house, since this was the 2nd wedding for my friend and long overdue (her first husband died when her daughter was 18 months old and now she is 14). I ate probably 20 points just in the snacks there. I guess I'm not used to eating fried foods, because my stomach was really hurting by the time I got home. Quite a few people from school were there and we all had a great time. The bride and groom rented a hotel room for the daughter and some of her friends, so Patty spent the night there. I have to get her before she goes to work today.

Tennessee Christmas

Come on, weather man,
give us a forecast snowy white
Can't you hear the prayers
of every childlike heart tonight
Rockies are calling, Denver snow falling
Somebody said it's four feet deep
But it doesn't matter, give me the laughter
I'm gonna choose to keep.

Another tender Tennessee Christmas
The only Christmas for me
Where the love circles around us
Like the gifts around our tree
Well, I know there's more snow up in Colorado
Than my roof will ever see
But a tender Tennessee Christmas
is the only Christmas for me.

Every now and then I get a wandering urge to see
Maybe California, maybe Tinsel Town's for me
There's a parade there, we'd have it made there
Bring home a tan for New Year's Eve
Sure sounds inviting, awfully exciting
Still I think I'm gonna keep.

Another tender Tennessee Christmas
The only Christmas for me
Where the love circles around us
Like the gifts around our tree
Well, they say in L.A. it's a warm holiday
It's the only place to be
But a tender Tennessee Christmas
is the only Christmas for me.

Thought I would share my 2 favorite Christmas songs with you. They can still bring a tear to my eyes.
:merry:

Hard Candy Christmas

Hey, maybe I値l dye my hair
Maybe I値l move somewhere
Maybe I値l get a car
Maybe I値l drive so far
They値l all lose track
Me, I値l bounce right back
Maybe I値l sleep real late
Maybe I値l lose some weight
Maybe I値l clear my junk
Maybe I値l just get drunk on apple wine
Me, I値l be just

Fine and dandy
Lord it痴 like a hard candy christmas
I知 barely getting through tomorrow
But still I won稚 let
Sorrow bring me way down

I値l be fine and dandy
Lord it痴 like a hard candy christmas
I知 barely getting through tomorrow
But still I won稚 let
Sorrow get me way down

Hey, maybe I値l learn to sew
Maybe I値l just lie low
Maybe I値l hit the bars
Maybe I値l count the stars until dawn
Me, I will go on

Maybe I値l settle down
Maybe I値l just leave town
Maybe I値l have some fun
Maybe I値l meet someone
And make him mine
Me, I値l be just

Fine and dandy
Lord it痴 like a hard candy christmas
I知 barely getting throung tomorrow
But still I won稚 let
Sorrow bring me way down

I値l be fine and dandy
Lord it痴 like a hard candy christmas
I知 barely getting through tomorrow
But still I won稚 let
Sorrow bring me way down

I値l be fine and dandy
Lord it痴 like a hard candy christmas
I知 barely getting through tomorrow
But still I won稚 let
Sorrow bring me way down

団ause I値l be fine
(I値l be fine)
Oh, I値l be fine

Great idea Sherry!

How many gifts do all of you usually buy your family members? Steve & I do 3 presents each which could even have more then 1 thing in the box, then we get 1 gift each from the kids. We try to do it so the kids will have more stuff to unwrap, they usually end up with 6 things from us and 1 from each other, plus the Santa gift.
Also, I grew up were the one thing we really wanted came from Santa on Christmas morning, this gift would be unwrapped and just sitting there for us to see. Steve grew up not getting any Santa gifts other then his stocking would be filled from Santa. Those of you that celebrate Christmas, how did you grow up doing it and how have have you continued through your own families?

One of my all time favorite songs heard at Christmas, but I like it anytime of the year. In fact, we played the Barry Manilow version at our wedding.

Ave Maria

Ave Maria
Gratia plena
Maria, gratia plena
Maria, gratia plena
Ave, ave dominus
Dominus tecum
Benedicta tu in mulieribus
Et benedictus
Et benedictus fructus ventris
Ventris tuae, Jesus.

Ave Maria, gratia plena
Maria, gratia plena
Maria, gratia plena
Ave, ave dominus
Dominus tecum

Ave Maria
Mater Dei
Ora pro nobis peccatoribus
Ora pro nobis
Ora, ora pro nobis peccatoribus
Nunc et in hora mortis
Et in hora mortis nostrae
Et in hora mortis nostrae
Et in hora mortis nostrae
Ave Maria

Ave Maria, gratia plena
Maria, gratia plena
Maria, gratia plena
Ave, ave dominus
Dominus tecum

This one seems to put me in the holiday spirit!!!!

Winter Wonderland
Sleigh bells ring
are you listening
in the lane
snow is glistening
A beautiful sight
we're happy tonight
walking in a winter wonderland

Gone away is the bluebird
here to stay is a new bird
He sings a love song
as we go along
walking in a winter wonderland

In the meadow we can build a snowman
Then pretend that he is Parson Brown
He'll say: Are you married?
we'll say: No man
But you can do the job
when you're in town

Later on
we'll conspire
as we dream by the fire
To face unafraid
the plans that we've made
walking in a winter wonderland

In the meadow we can build a snowman
and pretend that he's a circus clown
We'll have lots of fun with mister snowman
until the all the kids knock him down

When it snows
ain't it thrilling
Though your nose gets a chilling
We'll frolic and play
the Eskimo way
walking in a winter wonderland

Walking in a winter wonderland
walking in a winter wonderland

I just got home from my Aunts. She lives about 2 hours from me. Dad's side of the family was all there. We had a great meal and I enjoyed visiting all my cousins.

Shelley.....The wedding sounded nice. I love simple, nice weddings. nothing too big or fancy. The room for the kids sounded too cool! BTW: The Santa in the picture is one of those animated talking ones.Mom bought it for us last year after Christmas.

Debbie....I love your songs.... especially the Tennesee Christmas one! We had a great time yesterday shopping, eating, playing cards and LAUGHING!!

Gayle....I love "Walking In A Winter Wonderland!!!" That's one of my favorites! I haven't heard of the other one. I couldn't read it either because it wasn't in English.

My childhood memories that I carried on to my children: We would get 1 big gift from "Santa" that was left unwrapped under the tree like you Gayle. Then everything else would be wrapped up from Mom & Dad.

Dee......I have been thinking so much of you lately. PLEASE have Larry post us a quick reply and tell us how you are!! I love & Miss you so much!!!!

Carol.....Did you runaway on your b/day???? I sure miss you!!

Ramona....I know you must be having a very rough time right now with your boys gone and I'm sure you're thinking of your Mom. Please know that your Mom is wanting you to have a nice Christmas.Would you please drop in for just a second and say hi so I won't worry. I'm very concerned about you. HUGS!!!!! Love you!!!

Vicki, Cheryl & Doni.....Did you leave us? If you're lurking out there...please know that I'm thinking of you and wish you would post!

Did I leave anyone out? If so...please forgive me.

Here's my song for today:

Oh little town of Bethlehem, how still we see thee lie
Above thy deep and dreamless sleep the silent stars go by
Yet in they dark streets shineth, the everlasting light
The hopes and fears of all the years are met in thee tonight.

For Christ is born of Mary, and gathered all above
While mortals sleep the angels keep their watch of wondering love
Oh morning stars together, proclaim the holy birth.
And praises sing to God the king, and peace to men on earth.

How silently, how silently, the wondrous gift is given
So God imparts to human hearts the blessings of his heaven
No ear may hear his coming, but in this world of sin
Where meek souls will receive him still, the dear Christ enters in.

Oh holy Child of Bethlehem, descend to us we pray
Cast out our sin and enter in, be born in us today
We hear the Christmas angels, the great glad tidings tell
O come to us, abide with us, our lord Emanuel.

The Christmas Shoes

It was almost Christmas time, there I stood in another line
Tryin' to buy that last gift or two, not really in the Christmas mood
Standing right in front of me was a little boy waiting anxiously
Pacing 'round like little boys do
And in his hands he held a pair of shoes

His clothes were worn and old, he was dirty from head to toe
And when it came his time to pay
I couldn't believe what I heard him say

Sir, I want to buy these shoes for my Mama, please
It's Christmas Eve and these shoes are just her size
Could you hurry, sir, Daddy says there's not much time
You see she's been sick for quite a while
And I know these shoes would make her smile
And I want her to look beautiful if Mama meets Jesus tonight

He counted pennies for what seemed like years
Then the cashier said, "Son, there's not enough here"
He searched his pockets frantically
Then he turned and he looked at me
He said Mama made Christmas good at our house
Though most years she just did without
Tell me Sir, what am I going to do,
Somehow I've got to buy her these Christmas shoes

So I laid the money down, I just had to help him out
I'll never forget the look on his face when he said
Mama's gonna look so great

Sir, I want to buy these shoes for my Mama, please
It's Christmas Eve and these shoes are just her size
Could you hurry, sir, Daddy says there's not much time
You see she's been sick for quite a while
And I know these shoes would make her smile
And I want her to look beautiful if Mama meets Jesus tonight

I knew I'd caught a glimpse of heaven's love
As he thanked me and ran out
I knew that God had sent that little boy
To remind me just what Christmas is all about

OOOPPPSS! Here's the English version like we had at our wedding. It is such a peaceful and beautiful song...

Ave Maria
In English

Sweet Lord of giving
Teach me the meaning of your love
Show me the way of true contentment
and wash the burden of dought from my soul
Take my fear, replace it with knowledge devine
Though I'm weak make me strong
Each day I'll be more understanding
Each day more patient and peaceful within
and faith will lead me closer to wisdom
Let wisdom deliver me closer to Him

Debbie, the songs are pretty! I'm not familar with TN Christmas or hard candy Christmas, it seems like I've heard the Christmas shoes. I usually do better just hearing the song compared to trying to recognize the lyrics.
