Ramona....I'm sooooo happy the results from your test came back ok!!! I've been praying for you!! I'm really happy for you!!!!

Doni...Be looking for a letter (email) from me.

I had to take Drew back to Vanderbilt hospital for his routine xray on his Legg Perthes' Disease and it didn't turn out good. He's going Thursday for a Catscan.I'm not going to post it all because I don't want to bore everyone.

Not in a good mood. A lot on my mind........

Sherry, please post and tell us what you found out about Drew, we care. I meant to ask when he sprained his ankle how his leg condition was then. How is he handling everything? Don't think you will bore us with details, I feel like all of you are an extended part of my family and I want to stay up with the happenings in your life.

I didn't mean for my post to sound harsh or for you to feel like I didn't think any of you cared....I know you do! It just seems like EVERYTHING is happening to us all at once. Sometimes I don't know if I can take much more or how much longer I can stay strong.

For those who doesn't know: Legg Perthes' Disease is rare. They found out Drew had it at the age of 2 (he's 16 now). The blood supply cuts off and eats the ball in your hip. He's been in & out of the hospital since he was 2. He's been in & out of leg braces or body casts from age 2 through the age of 8. Now...he walks with a very bad limp and always in pain. The ball (bone) re-generates itself and when Drew's grew back, it grew back to the left instead of in the socket. He has to go twice a year for an MRI & xray.

Well today (I left work 2 hours early for his appt.) we were at Vanderbilt hospital for 3 1/2 hours! From the pelvic to the hipbone, his "good leg" was 135cm, which is normal, but his "bad leg" was 105 cm. Dr.Green said 30 cm was a lot of differences. He's going Thursday for a Catscan to see if the ball (bone) has died. If so, they will do a hip replacement on him ASAP.Also...in March his bad leg was 1/2 inch shorter then his good leg. Today it was 1 inch! That's 1/2 inch in just 8 months which is another sign of the bone dying.

I should find out Friday the catscan results. Please keep Drew in your prayers.

(BTW: The Dr. has taken PE away from Drew today also)

Sherry, when it rains it pours... how is Drew coping through the news? I knew this was a serious condition, but not this serious. If they do a hip replacement, will the problems continue? Tell Drew I am thinking of him and sending him {{{Good Vibes}}} and a {{{Major Hug}}} If you guys need ANYTHING at all, just let me know.

LOVE YOU!

Sherry, I will be thinking of you, Drew, and your entire family this week. I know this is so hard on both of you. Nothing hurts worse than seeing your babies hurting. I hope you'll take a little bit of comfort in the fact that hip replacements have come a very long way in the past few years. My dad had his in March and was driving and walking without a cane within 10 days.....and he's 75! I just know that Drew will do very well if he has the surgery. And, just think of how he will be free from pain for the first time. I know it is hard to think about putting him through this. How is Wayne doing with his knee? My goodness you have had a lot put on you this year. Well, this year is almost over and I just know that all of the bad stuff will be behind you and next year will be wonderful! By the way, how are YOU feeling????

Doni, I can't imagine my husband ever saying anything like that to me. I might have to apply some knee action to the southern region of his body!!!! {{{{{{{{HUGS}}}}}}}

Gayle, I'm so happy that Allison is feeling better. It sounds like this last round of antibiotics just may do the trick. By the way, she sure looks like her beautiful mommy!!

Do you all have big plans for Thanksgiving? Rick, my dad, and myself are going out to eat. I just don't feel like cooking a big meal for three people. And since we are all trying to drop some weight, I don't need a lot of leftovers sitting around. Besides that, I'm still not feeling very well. Did I tell you I had an infection??? I can't remember. Anyway, the culture came back and it turns out I have E-Coli. Isn't that just lovely??!! I'm on my second round of anitbiotics, but I can tell it is still with me.

I have the day after Thanksgiving off. This will be the first time in 22 years that I'll be able to hit the stores with the hordes of shoppers for the big sales. Actually, I'm pretty much done with my shopping, I just want to get out there with everyone else and see what it feels like!! LOL

Just checking in this morning...

Dee, are you out there? It's unlike you to not check in unless your not feeling well...

Sher, did you get my email??

Baking cakes this morning for a Hospice inservice tonight, I have three to bake and frost, then I need to get my butt in gear and get some craft show stuff done. I have a show this Friday and Saturday and I haven't been able to get anything done!

Ramona, we posted at the same time. I think we are going to do the day after Thanksgiving sales too! I have NEVER experienced it, but I guess it's a blast! We are looking for a combo DVD/video player for Liz.
I wanted to go out to eat on my side of the family, but I have a SIL that shot my idea down within minutes... she is always dieting and tells everyone else how to eat...
I suggested finger foods and healthy food choices, this was quickly shot down too...

Sher, I agree with Ramona, I know it is difficult to think of, but maybe with surgery, Drew will finally be pain free. What an AWESOME thought!

Gayle.....Gayle.....Gayle..... I am HERE!!! Larry had a thursday off last week, Dez came home wednesday night and left sunday. I have been busy baking and decorating for christmas. I have to do everything so slow but it is getting done. Allison is so cute. I could hug her to death. She does look like her mommy. It sure is a worry when your baby is sick. I hope that with the new meds her blood counts will return back to normal. You always know what to say and have wonderful ideas. I liked the ideas that you had for Shelley or maybe it was Sherry ( I forget what....but it was in my notes from when I read the threads) You beat us to having snow. We usually have snow aound Halloween. None yet and the last few weeks have been above normal with lots of sunshine. I am almost done my christmas shopping but I have a few less weeks than everyone else. My house is looking so glamorous and christmasy. I have decorated in gold and a little burgendy. It looks very elagent. I went to a craft sale this weekend and dropped $100, I wish that I could have spent it at your table.

Cheryl that was a wonderful surprise to recieve a card from you. It is beautiful. Did you add the little glitter on it? Congratulations on getting married. Let us know when you pick a date.

Shelley that is so funny about your MIL. Hopefully she will get what she deserves. My MIL is now in the market for a man. She hasn't had one in 24 years. Should be interesting. She lost 40 pounds and still wants to lose more. She is working out at the gym and watching what she eats. Guess how old she is? She is 57 years old. Young isn't it. Thank you for the anniversary card. That was nice of you, I didn't expect it, it was the only card I got except from Larry. I wish that I lived closer to vancover. I am im the middle of canada. Vancover is on the west coast. I am due north of Gayle. I would love to see you. I wish that one day we will all be able to meet. Have you done your shopping for Hannak (sp?)

Ramona how have you recovered from your car accident? Any stiffness? You are so lucky that you weren't hurt. I am glad that your test turned out ok. I said a lot of prayers for you. What an awful thing for that young boy to kill his parent. I am sure that this job is tougher than you expected sometimes. I think that it is a nice idea to go out for thanksgiving. That is what we did. My mom and dad, one of my sisters and her husband and Larry and I went out. We enjoyed it. Oh yes you asked if Jay or Dez remembered our anniversary, no I didn't hear from them. Jay mentioned the day before he might take me out but he didn't. It is over and I am glad for all the wishes from my good friends here.

Doni I am so sorry to hear of your problems at home. I am sending love and prayers your way. Do you think that you could go as a couple for counsiling? The sumject of porn is a very hot one for me. I do not allow any of that in my home. Not the kids or my hubby. I am dead set against it. I think that you are not the one with the problem but your hubby. You do not fall out of love with someone because they gainned weight.

Sherry I wish that you would post any thing that you want to share with us. We care and want to be there for you. I rely on all of you to help me work through a lot of my problems and hurts. We will pray and give advise for you when you share. I am sorry to hear that Drew is not doing well. Maybe if he has a hip replacing he will be pain free. Be happy that you are not in canada. It is a two year waiting list if you want one of the top doctors. There are other doctors that are available but not with as much experience but still surgeons. So if you want a certain doc you wait the two years or if you will take anther doc it still is six month wait. Your whole family is in my prayers. I know what it is like when it seems like everything is going wrong. I have been through my share and fully understand. Everyone here has been such a help to get me through it.

Thank you everyone for the anniversary wishes. It was our 24th anniversary. Our gift to each other is our trip to Vegas. We will be leaving friday Nov 26th. I can not sit long so I will need a lot of drugs to get me there. It makes me a bit nervous about having to sit that long but I really want to go and I wouldn't want to disappoint Larry. We had a shock late last week. Dez came home and told us she was pregnant. She is only 18. I went with her to the dr's. She has been on the needle BC. I don't remember what it is called but she shouldn't have gotten pregnant. I don't think that she should be having sex never mind babies but I told her I would rather she be on BC than get pregnant. She has only been with this bad boyfriend of hers, which she dumped a couple of weeks ago. Ok now I am rambling on, what I want to say is she had another test and it is negitive. She spotted last week so she must have miscarried. What a miricle. I told her this won't happen twice so why not wait til she is married. You can imagine the discussions we had prior to seeing the doc. I don't want to be a Gramma at 41 and I don't want her to be a mom. Whew is all I can say and thank you God.
Well I can't sit any more but I just wanted to check in.

Love you all.

About christmas exchange, if we don't do something now I won't be able to participate, so do we want to and if so who is in?

Wow, Dee, I bet it was a shocker having Dez tell you the news. I use to be on Depo too, I finally got off of it because of too many side effects. It's fairly common with the shot to spot every so often. Thank goodness the test was negative!

If you guys want to do a small exchange, I'm in...or, since money seems to be tight with everyone, we could exchange addresses and do a Christmas card exchange.
Just a thought, it could be a purchased or hand made one card.

I went to a Hospice in-service tonight titled: Grief, Mourning and the Holidays. It was a very interesting session and I gained a wealth of information. Ramona, the pastoral counselor mentioned the idea about a tree for the lost loved one. He read a story about a lady who lost her mother. The first year she had two trees, the regular family Christmas tree and one decorated with her mothers ornaments. By the second or third year, she had combined her mothers ornaments with the family ornaments to just have the one tree.

As a Hospice volunteer, some people seem to think I can just "go on", "I handle it better" or I recover quickly from a death, not so. It was nice to find out tonight that most of the feelings I'm having are perfectly normal. This is a hard time of year for me losing Nancy. I miss her phone calls and our long visits... she loved this time of the year and the holidays. Her birthday is the 29th, the same day as yours, Ramona.
I want to do something special, I'm thinking I may see if I can find a vase shaped like a cat or a kitten figurine and take it to the cemetary. She had a great love for animals, and cats were her favorite.

I baked and frosted three cakes today and am happy to say not one tiny bit of cake batter, crumbs or icing touched my lips! In fact, I went to the in-service tonight and passed up all the goodies! I had my glass of water and cup of coffee.

I'm in for a gift exchange. We could do something small that represents the state we are from, or we could send each other diet stuff???

Ramona-I hope you get better soon. How the heck did you get e-coli?

Gayle yes it was a shocker. The last week I could Dez sounded depressed so in a way I wasn't that surprised. She has msn something to Larry and when he read it to me I made a comment that I hoped that she wasn't pregnant. Good for you not touching the batter or icing. I usually am a pot licker! I was wondering how you were doing with coping with the loss of Nancy. That is a good idea about bringing her a kitten. That is sweet and I know that it will make you feel a bit better.

Shelley thank you for the email. Have a good day.

Gift or cards doesn't make a difference to me. Please let us decide soon. My clock is ticking and I would love to participate. I love you guys so much. I am happy that I have such great friends here that I feel like I can share anything.

I like the batter better than the icing! Yum.

Dee, what are kids thinking these days? I keep expecting to hear news like that from one of my sister's kids.

Ramona--sounds like you've had some tough time at work lately. Hope things get better!

Sherry--poor Drew! Sounds like he's been through it! Isn't there any long-term fix for his condition? How's Wayne?

Gayle--you're doing so good in the food dept! Don't know what's wrong with me--pms is part of it, but not all. Everything just tastes so good lately!

Shelley--I thought about you this morning (at 5 a.m.) when I was getting ready to go to my BodyPump class. Aren't you the one that said you used to go to a class like that and really enjoyed it? I tell you, this one is great--I just love the instructor! Wish you could visit me in Ark. just to go to the class with me! Wish all of you could, for that matter!

I like all the ideas for Christmas/holiday season gifts. I live close enough to TX and LA that my person could potentially wind up w/stuff from three states! I'd like to have everyone's addresses, anyway. It's fun to send cards every now and then.

Hope everyone is doing well! Hey to Carol, Doni, Jennelle (wherever you are--hope you at least lurk sometimes!!), Vicky and Debbie!

Cheryl
