Hi all!

Just checking in for my minute fix. I had a care plan meeting to attend today for mom. They are planning on discharge on Monday. I have to be "trained" on Friday. All of her apparatuses, etc. Then on Sunday, I have to take her home for a few hours to see how she does with some assigned "tasks" then take her back to the hospital and she should be discharged on Monday morning. I'm hoping they will have her fairly independent by the time she comes home. But that means I will still have to drive her where she wants to be for awhile.....I assume.

I told her if she behaves herself and stays home Tuesday and Wednesday that I would take her to cards on Thursday. She's going to have to go to outpatient physical therapy a couple of times a week but I’m setting that up for a place that’s right around the corner from me. She said she could drive, but I told her I didn't want her behind the wheel until the pain was ALL gone. Too much threat of a lawsuit if she happens to get into an accident and has to hobble out from behind the wheel. The other driver would think it's her fault, even if it's not.

Ok, I'm going to quickly try to do some catching up. Here goes.

Terri: Glad that it seems Ginger is on the mend. A friend of mine that has a horse was totally shocked that not one, but TWO vets couldn't figure out she has an abcess. Geez. Anyway, glad things are looking up. Too bad the humans at the barn aren't playing nice. I hope you find some place else to keep her.

Lisa: Thanks for starting the new thread. You seem to be a very "on the go" person watching all those little ones every day.

Lucky: We have had absolutely the weirdest weather. Now usually it doesn't get to be summer around here until July 25th anyway and then of course it's back to winter by July 26th, but geez, we haven't even had summer this year. Yesterday it got to 65 and rained all day.

Kit: Glad to see you posting. I can usually figure out your acronyms, but this one, *VBSAO* I just can't get. Can you help me out? Do I catch a hint of Aussie in you?

Andria: I'm with you, I only catch how people are doing on the weightloss front when they post it over here because I don't have time to be on more than one thread at a time. You sound like you've been terribly busy. Is your day job done now, or is it done at the end of THIS week? I lost track. * Sorry that Adam is not around for your anniversary. Yes, that probably is how you got to this spot in your marriage. That, and many other instances, I'm guessing. [[[hugs]]]

J-ann: Congrats on Puppy winning her class! I bet you're a proud mommy. But how is it she can win and then not do well in obedience class? Congrats on doing well with food while you were away. That's usually my worst time. * Too bad you left your chair. That stinks! I have a collapsible chair that "fits" me too and I'd be lost if I misplaced it. I take it everywhere all summer long so I know I have a place to sit. I hate those white plastic things. I'm always afraid, if I fit in them at all, that they will collapse.

Mary: Sounds like you're very busy. I can't wait to meet you when you get up this way. If you can give me a heads up about which day you think you'll be free to meet, that would really help as I'm booking jobs fast. I'm trying to stay fairly light for a couple of days there until I hear better what your plans are.

2cute: WOW, winning at the casino again! Geez, you better keep that hubby of yours. He's pretty handy to have around!!!

BarbPA: I'm glad you got to take a day to yourself. You deserve some R & R. Take care of yourself. We'll be waiting to hear what the second opinion Dr. has to say. [[[hugs]]]

Barbg: How terrible that you were robbed! What a thing to happen when you're on vacation! I hope it didn't put too much of a damper on the rest of your trip. Hope you're learning something. That's a long way to go for computer training.

Well, my dears, I think I caught up with everyone from the last thread at least. I feel a little better. I got two rotisserie chickens from my grocery shops today and de-boned and de-skinned them. I'm going to take some up to mom tomorrow along with some potato salad and some strawberry fluffy stuff I got from the deli. The food at the hospital has been horrible beyond belief and I'm sure she'll enjoy the little picnic I have planned for her.

You all take care and behave yourselves until I can check in again. Love ya bunches.

Oh, P.S., I forgot to tell you (or at least I think I didn't tell you), Susie went to visit family in Illinois and broke 3 toes while she was there. OUCH! We're supposed to have lunch again next week. She's had a plate full too, but says to say hello.

Ok, beddy bye time. See you later.

Good Morning.

I haven't read the end of the last thread but wanted to pop in this morning while I have

I am trying Terri & BarbPa's schedule of posting right away in the morning. (well, they USED to do that - maybe I have scared them away)

Anyway, so far this week it has helped to keep me focused.

I love the weather this week - 75 to 80 during the day and 55 to 60 at night. GREAT sleeping weather.

Hmmm wonder what weather would make me exercise. BUT I have to get started or THIN, of all people, is going to put me to shame!!! (I KNOW how you love the "E" word)

Okay, you all heard it (okay, read it) here!!!! I will exercise tonight, July 29th, 2004 for a minimum of 1/2 hour when I get home tonight. (I even wrote this in blood, so I have to do it!!! Plus I can't lie to you all)

Later,

Nope, Lucky, you didn't scare me away. Work has just been horrendous this week and I had been so down about the horse situation, that I just didn't have much to say. But I'm trying to get back on a normal life track starting today!

We were out at the barn and one of the girls, "Al" came out to feed and told us that she's moving her horses this weekend. I'm really disappointed because we like her a lot. We asked her how much Grizzlefart is leasing the place for and she said, "$600" a month. DH and I looked at each other and said, why don't we lease the damn thing and you all run it? Or go in five ways? Good grief it that's all by the time we all have horses and run an ad for boarding, it shouldn't be that difficult to meet the monthly obligations. They are going to talk to the property owner and say that a group of five are willing to sign a year's lease since Grizzle is behind on making payments and is month-to-month anyway. The owner may or may not go for it. So we'll see.

J-Ann - I had to laugh when I read about obedience class. I remember taking Bear to obed class when he was about 6 months old. I'd bring him home and tell DH to get him away from me. I'd be almost crying by the time class was done. All he wanted to do was play with the other dogs. Plus they had us sitting way too much because the dogs got bored and antsy. We of course did not pass because all he wouldn't do was "stay". That darn stubborness he has.

Lucky - I'm with you on the exercise. I haven't done much in two weeks and I have to get restarted. I'll join you on the blood oath to do at least 30 minutes of something tonight. How about that stability ball?

Thin - Sounds like things are getting better for your mom. Did I miss what exactly happened? Is it for sure her back? Also looks like you're going to be awfully busy for a while yet.

Okay, I have to go get myself ready for work and sorry but I can't remember other posts.

I wish everyone a fabulous, healthy day! Lots of good healthy food, water and exercise!

P.S. On the weight loss front, I'm holding steady at 249.6 to 251. Just depends on how bad the humidity is or if I forgot to drink water!

Default Where do you get....

Hey Kids,
I have been reading your posts...where do you get a scale that will hold me? And where do you get that collapsible chair that may fit me? I live in discomfort because of my weight...I'd like like to change that!
I had a ME day last Thursday. Took a couple of days off work, went to get nails, eyebrows and hair done, then shopping a bit. I ate one of Arby's low-carb wraps...it was bland, but filling. I went to the Beauty Supply store to score some goodies. Got nail and hair color stuff. I have Blonde by L'oreal hair (alias gray) and need some bright streaks to perk it up a little.
My day was cut short by my husband's call " I'm hunnnnngry, come home and cook" (He is not big like me, but he can pack the food away! Can't cook much though.)
But I had fun while I could.
This was a good day,I usualy have the man in tow, and although I love him, he's not good to shop with!

Thanks,
Debra

Good Morning!

Nope, Lucky didn't scare me away either! I got to work this morning and had a couple things to take care of right away. Now I just finished my usual egg white omelet and had to pop in for a minute before getting back to work.

I didn't get to the gym yesterday, but I did ride the bike at home and did some crunches on the big blue ball! I have my bag in the car to go to the Y on the way home tonight. It's going to be a busy night, but I have to make it a priority. There is a little boy in my neighborhood that is battling childhood cancer (he's only 4) - the neighbors are taking turns fixing meals for the family. Tomorrow is my day so tonight I will be cooking for them to take it over in the morning. We are also having a poker party at our house tomorrow night so that means cleaning and preparing for that! I'm looking forward to it. It's been a while since we've had our friends over for cards.

I'm realizing how much weekend splurging is hurting my weight loss success. Last week I was down 4 pounds. Then I let my DH convince me to eat out too much over the weekend. Now I am fighting for last week's loss instead of working on this week's new loss. I must become stronger. The good news is that he seems to slowly be coming over to my side. I actually go him to exercise last night --- he came into the computer room all ready to sit down at his desk and I said "no way" -- get on the exercise bike before you do anything else. And, HE DID! Granted he only did 5 minutes, but you have to start somewhere!!! It's much better than nothing!!!

Ok, lots of rambling, not much time for personals. Sorry! I'm thinking of each and everyone of you -- as usual!! And wondering where some of our friends have disappeared to!!!

Later Chicks!

Hi Debra -
You snuck in on me while I was posting. Wanted to come back and say Hi! I am happy that you decided to post with us. Anytime you want to come out of lurker mode and join us you are more than welcome!!! We love new friends!!!

As for the scale, I am not sure what you need, but I have one that goes up to 330. It's a Tanita brand that I ordered on-line. I think I have also heard some mention a WW scale that reads to 380. Not sure where they have gotten them.

I would also love to know about the chairs. I believe QVC had some pretty good ones that are very strong.

Take care of yourself - hope to see you again.

Good morning everyone!

Yay, the sun is out today!! We have to bail the yard later for sure here *LOL* I am going to miss my early workout on the treadmill while watching "Ellen" because Kohl's is having a back to school sale starting today and I am taking my son to get him outfitted *L* He starts skateboard camp next Monday, so he will have plenty of new clothes to look the part as well hehe

Terri ~ Good deal on trying to work the lease between yourselves! You actually did forget my post because I had asked if that were a possibility, but then my posts are so HUGE that they are easy to miss or forget...I think maybe I best start cutting back

Judy ~ Woohoo, it sounds like the trip to CT was a winner all the way around!! It is hard to get settled back into the house routine and such when you have been gone for sure, but kudos on knowing that tomorrow is another day and things will get back to "normal" hehe

thin ~ VBSAO = Very Big Smile All Over I am actually Italian, but I adopted the "Crikey" years ago after watching a lot of the Crocodile Hunter on Animal Planet *L* And right now I am really into watching "Outback Jack" as I had posted and guess that I am "feeling it" just that much and picking up the lingo. One of my dreams is to get the chance to visit Australia someday, though...I should almost fit right in *LOL* Good to hear that your moms is doing better and you can bring her home soon. You are going to continue to be one busy chickie, but I really admire how much you obviously love and take care of your mother...that tells a lot about a person

Lucky ~ Don't write too much in blood or you will be too weak to exercise! *eeps* Wtg though girl...I really enjoy exercising most of the time, but I still have to trick myself into keeping it up because I love sitting around and eating even more

Debra ~ Hiya lady! I just got a scale from Linens 'n Things the other day that goes up to 380 lbs...it is by Weight Watcher's and also shows the tenths? of a lb as well, so you can tell if you have even lost 1/2 lb per week, etc. I know that it's helped me immensely already being able to step onto a scale that I know won't break. *L* Good luck hon!

BarbPA ~ Really hated to hear about the little 4-yr old *tears* It is really great that you all are pitching in to help with meals and such! Egads, it is soo hard not to eat out on the weekends (or anytime it's offered *L*). I have an exceedingly hard time choosing healthy things to eat at restaurants, especially when my husband and son are thin and can eat whatever they want *cry* hehe No, I am glad that they are healthy, really We did go to Friendly's the other night and I actually did get a burger, but they now have carb smart meals where you can get the burger without the buns and dressings. I got the mushroom swiss and a side of broccoli and actually passed on the dessert! I have been really trying to drink a large glass or two of ice water before we got out to eat and ice water before and with my meal and then mentally telling myself how full I am before I even order. I know it sounds strange, but it has helped.

Well, I did cut back a little on my post size *L* I will get better. Have a great day all!!

Default thanks BarbPA and Kitaqua

Great! Now I can go look for the scale by brand. I use the one in the DR. office, and I think it has been used and abused. I weight 348 now, according to his scale, and I don't go back until October, so I won't be able to weigh until then..so i will get a scale in the house. I had one , but it stopped at the 300 mark, and the kids jumped on it so much that it was useless anyway. Don't get me started on my 4 Granddaughters (all under the age of 10) They are another incentive to lose weight, I can't keep up with them now!
Have a good day!
Debra

Good morning ladies. I can't post this morning but had to WELCOME Debra. We are so glad you have joined our little group. Please post often and tell us all about yourself. I have two granddaughters and it breaks my heart how limited I am with them. This summer has been great for me because in the pool I am almost normal and can enjoy them soooooo much more.

I too bought the Weight Watchers scale at Linen and Things. They always have coupons too so that helps.
As for a fold up chair... I highly recommend the "Coleman" brand. I bought mine at Walmart in the camping section.... not with the normal lawn chairs. It cost like $28 but I have had mine for 8-10 YEARS and it still holds this fat 300+++ body.

Okay.. gotta run. Love you all and miss you even more.

Hey gorgeous chickies! Happy Thursday! The sun is shining - once again - and it's beautiful here! I'm sure likin' that!!!

2Cute - I'm going to have to try the Coleman camping chair. I have a regular lawn chair right now, I like it, but it's not as compact as those fold up ones. Does this one poke your hips? I'm sure we all know about that!

Debra - Welcome to our group! Everyone here is so awesome! I'm sure you'll enjoy it - and post or lurk as often as you want . . .

Kit - Hi ya! Don't worry about long posts - I actually enjoy them Back to school shopping already I can't wait! Then things can quiet down around here

BarbPA - whats your trick to getting him to exercise? I need to get my hubby to do the same - about all he exercises in the evenging is his remote finger

Terri - Hope the lease situation works out

Lucky - I'm with you on the GREAT sleeping weather! It's gorgeous, 70* and sunny here today. I'm lovin' this weather!!!!

Thin - hope things continue to improve for your mama!

Food was bad today - I made cookies for dh and my other kids to have when I'm gone next week, of course I had to taste the dough - several times Can't help myself! Someone needs to my mouth shut when I bake. Problem is, I LOVE baking!! Ah, well. All in a days work!

Gotta run - the munchkins are calling . . . be back later - love to all!

Terri: I am so happy to here that you figured out what is wrong with Ginger. I am so happy. What is a farrier? Good luck on the lease!

Debra: Welcome!

Lucky: Good luck on the exercising.

J-Ann: Congrats on the Champion Puppy. I took Abigayle to Puppy Headstart and she loved it. But if the trainers Great Pyrenees Puppy wasn’t there she wouldn’t do a thing.

Thin: I am so happy to hear your mom is doing well!

Kit & Lisa: I love your posts!

Hi Ladies,

Chairs ..... I got the Slumberjack Big Chair online at Cabela's. I've seen them on ebay too. Coleman has two sizes. I'm pretty sure thair Admirals chair is big and strong. Today in Sam's I found an extra large chair in a bag for $19.88. It's cammoflage (sp???) colored but it's the right size. I'm still going to invest in another Big Chair tho. Do a Google search to compare prices.

Thin: We're showing the puppy in conformation classes (read: "Here she comes. Miss America!) They're judged againt a written standard for the breed so she just has to "stand pretty" and walk. Of course getting her to do both ain't easy. Obedience showing will come along in a year or two. She's best at puppy agility but we don't do the jumping things until they grow into their bones.

Scooter: Congrats on the 2.5 lb loss. Good for you!!

Terri: Hope things work out leasing the barn.

Oh geez, there goes the dryer.
I'll try to get back later.

Talking Help! I need your opinion

Okay - I am going to be playing piano at my cousins wedding in September. She still hasn't picked out a processional and a recessional. I have my favorites, but I've "encouraged" those that I've played at to pick those. What are some of your favorites?

Well stupid thing - I was going to put in some smilies & it won't let me. Oh well.

One final question - how in the world do you post pictures???? I have tried and I'm doing something wrong because it's not working! I have pix back from our Duluth trip and I want to share them with y'all.

Gotta run - chicken is off the grill now - time to eat! Grilled chicken & steamed zucchini ('magine that!). Tata for now - hugs to all!!
