OK, people, I am going on vacation on Thursday - I am seriously excited
- and I need some help to figure out an eating/exercise strategy.
I am going to visit my friends in Uganda (more like family, really), for 2 weeks. I was there for a month last Christmas, and lost 3lbs.....I have no idea how, since I ate a lot and did minimal exercise. Am I the only person in the world who lost weight over Christmas?????
The good thing is that there is no junk/processed food, and no desserts. The fruit is fantastic (mangoes, papaya, pineapple), and they eat a lot of fish, chicken, pork. The tough bit is that their food is mainly carb based - so lots of rice, cassava, millet bread, matoke. They have delicious groundnuts, and make great groundnut sauce.....
I guess I am thinking of an approach of
a) eating in moderation, and filling up on fruit and protein
b) swimming a couple of times a week, depending on where we are staying
c) walking for half an hour in the evenings
d) dancing 2 or 3 nights a week
e) not worrying/thinking about it too much, and having a great time
I think that what is making me a bit anxious is that normally I have almost total control over my food and exercise choices.......in Uganda I don't, partly because the food is very different (and I love it!), and partly because I am staying with friends, and we will be travelling and staying in hotels/hostels/lions dens (
).....
