Default Newbie

Hi all. I just want to introduce myself. My name is Michele and I am starting the SBD. I have about 20 pounds to lose.

Yesterday was my first day and I have a lot of habits to break. After 5 years on WW (lifetime), I can't help but count the points in whatever I am eating. How long does it take for that to pass?

Also, I would love to hear some of your success (or not such a success) stories as an inspiration (or as a warning).

Thanks! Michele

Welcome Michele!

My best advice is to not be pulled into all the new low carb processed products. They seem very tempting but many will mess with your digestive system in every imaginable way and really stall your weightloss. They are okay once in a while but know your limits! Besides, as far as I'm concerned, they really aren't in the spirit of the diet as far as getting back to basic, healthy foods.

Otherwise the SBD has been great for me! I've been on it about a month and, as much as you may doubt it now, your tastes really will change! I don't have the cravings I had before. One good tip - really try to have a large salad with at least one meal a day. That really helped me.

Good luck!

Welcome to the beach, Michelle! I was on WW, but because of having to count points all day, I was always thinking about food, so I was always hungry. On SBD you don't have to worry about points. You get plenty to eat every meal, and you will be eating healthy, wholesome foods that will keep you satisfied between meals. This plan works for me, where many other diets did not. Be sure to read labels for ingredients - many things you'd think be Ok aren't.

Hi - I have been combing ww with sbd & have lost 7# in the 1st two weeks - I am happy. I think I need the accountability of ww & my meetings help alot.

Good luck.

I have done ww in the past and started ww this year (only for a week) before I switched to sb. I still count points just to make sure that my portions are okay. This is probably out of habit from the past but also because I am finding that the food consumption is really high on SB so often I am not really hungry when I eat the next snack. If I skip snacks or meals then I do get really hungry and overeat.

I found SB better than ww because the eating guidelines are really healthy and seem to be maintainable long term. When I finished phase one I had no interest in starchy foods or baked goods so am doing a phase 1.5 and have added in fruit yogurt and a few other small amounts of phase 2 foods.
