Oral allergy syndrome
I was veggie-challenged long before this diagnosis, but the last time I lost a substantial amount of weight- spinach, lettuce, fresh fruit, and tomatoes were my friend. I used to go to the farmer's market once or twice a month to get some new produce to try meals. Since then, I got pregnant, acquired a haywire immune system, and found out I have a whole slew of allergies (to the point I now carry an epi-pen). Lettuce and carrots can give me an itchy throat. Brassica family members, melons, and tomatoes are definite no-goes when fresh (everyone loves microwaved or steamed melon). So I am wondering if someone deals with OAS and have found fresh veggies that are less problematic. If not, I guess I will keep following threads for great recipes without fresh veggies.
