Default How do you measure?

I'm curious where people measure themselves? I was measuring at one point, but I could never remember where I last put the tape measure. I thought about putting lines on my body with permanent marker, but decided against it. I have a freckle on one arm that was my guide, but other than that, I just don't know where my hips really are, if my waist is measured where the fat is or where it indents (which is really high) or where on my thigh the tape measure should go.

Is there a website or model or something that shows where we should put the tape measure? How do you who measure do it? I really don't want to ask my DH to measure me. Uh-uh, no way!

You are funny, because I actually wanted to use the permanent marker thing too!!! LOL...I just make a conscious effort to try to measuer in the same place every time. Not totally acurrate, but it can't be that off. If any one knows of a model or website...let us know!!! Sorry, that was not too much help!

Many many years ago I worked at a gym. One of the things I would do is measurements. We were always taught that when we do first time measurements to leave some slack in the measuring tape. Then subsequent ones, we would pull a bit tighter to make it look like they lost inches. Terrible isn't it.....
Anyway, I don't quite recall all the exact places but the waist was where it indents. Alot of women are really high (myself included). The hips were like an inch above the hip bones or something like that. I still have alot of my training material from there packed away. Maybe I'll see if I can pull it out and give you an exact answer.

I guess the reason that I like to measure my body is so I do not get stuck on the scales numbers....ya know? For me, it is a NSV that I only do once a month.

Yeah the scale can be a big liar if you are working out at all. I hope you didn't think I was being snot I guess in a way I do measure. I couldn't wear my jeans when I started and they have a 38 inch waist, so I was bigger than that. No I can comfortably wear a 35-36inch waist.
