Default Barre?

Hello ladies,

(First post woo-hoo!) I am trying to get back into exercise after a long hiatus. I have always been super active--played sports growing up, in college, and did crossfit for the first year of law school. In the past two years or so, I have been very lax with my exercise. I have also gained 50 lbs. Now, it is time to get back on track, lose the weight, and keep it off. I tried orange theory and running, but I don't think now is the time for that. I saw barre, and I thought it looked interesting. I am signed up for my first class, and am excited but nervous. I feel like I am going to be a hulking giant in a room full of teeny tiny ballerinas wearing lululemon. No one will probably care. Everyone is there for themselves, but still.

Anyways, has anyone done barre? Any tips for a newbie?

Thanks!!!

I take a very occasional drop in ballet class at the local ballet company school. I literally am surrounded by professional ballerinas! (Not in class though, whew)
Everyone has always been very nice, and the exercise and discipline is very good. I think you'll enjoy it!

I would love, love, LOVE to. I should see if there are any classes in my area. My 6-year-old daughter does ballet, and I'm beginning to get a little jealous.

I haven't tried a class yet, but I have the Andrea Rogers dvd and find it fun and challenging. Maybe youtube a few moves before class and practice to get comfortable? Goodluck and let us know how it goes
