Default BBC documentary about diets

hey peeps;

I've just been watching a very interesting three part documentary on dieting. I checked, and it seems to be on youtube. Search for "BBC The Right Diet, Horizon" and you should find it. (Horizon is the name of the science series of which it is a part)

It confirms a lot of things I suspected, and brings up some new things to.

I watched and enjoyed BBC's The Right Diet. Next I will watch The Men Who Made Us Fat.

Thank you for the recommendations.

Ugh, just had to post watching a show on TLC "Fat & Back" which I think may have originally aired on BBC.... anyway, I am only about 3/4 of the way through but I had to post how ridiculous this is! For those not familiar it is about a women who thinks that "fat" people are all lazy and eat too much & don't move enough. Simple, but to prove her point she decides to gain weight ( I think close to 50lbs) to then lose it in 12 weeks. Sooooo, what has me fussing is this.... she had a difficult time gaining weight so she had to up her calories to over 6000 a day. That right there should have told her that her metabolism is NOT normal. She is now losing the weight eating about 1700 calories a day and exercising about 2 hours a day. (she lost 22lbs the 1st month)

Anyway, everyone is different. For myself, I will gain weight if I eat 1400 calories a day. In order to lose I have to be between 1100-1200 calories a day. I exercise about 4 days a week 45 minutes or so at a time. I stand on my feet at work about 5 hours a day 4 days a week as well, I obviously could do more BUT these are realistic amounts IMO.

Hopefully by the end of the show she will realize not everyone is built the same and she is indeed BLESSED to have the metabolism she has....I don't think so though, she is a real PILL!

Doesn't sound as if learning anything is on her agenda :\

Still, I'm curious and will see if I can find it.

I just finished watching it. It was an interesting experiment. I wonder what would have happened if they put a feaster in the emotional eater group or something. Is it possible they still would have gotten results despite being on a diet that wasn't meant for them? I even wonder if there could be more than 3 main categories for people who are overweight.

I took the test and it said I was 66% constant craver. I work from home with kitchen access all day long, and I've been trying to eat better for over a year, so I tend to think about when and what to eat throughout the day. That type had obesity genes and they were put on the fasting diet, but that's not something I think I can do. I've been overweight my whole life so I wonder if genes really have something to do with it.
