Default It's been a while, gained 60 lbs

Its been a long time since I've been here and in that time I've gained 60 pounds. I've been suffering with a lot of depression having been diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis, and a lot of other things that have happened to me since I've been here that I've used food for comfort, but I'm tired of my weight so I'm ready to try it for a third time.

They say the third time is the charm right? Well I hope so

My biggest obstacle is that I want to lose weight but because I feel hopeless, I eat, so what do you do when you feel like "what's the point" and you just don't feel like losing weight. I'm just exhausted

Sparklez,

So sorry to hear you've been diagnosed with RA. I was diagnosed with it 15 years ago. You experience a type of grief that most folks don't understand when your life changes so dramatically. It depends on which joints are hurting at the time, but it's real hard to not feel sorry for yourself when a light handshake or a smile hurts like crazy. When were you diagnosed & are the meds helping? I found that I did go through all the stages of grief & at times still falter with the final one of acceptance. It may go into remission at times, but it doesn't go away. It's sort of like Insulin Resistance. You may be able to lose weight & keep things under control with diet, but you can never eat "normally", or the weight and the IR will return. It can be very hard to accept that things will never be like they once were.....Just give yourself time & be gentle with you. Google arthritis forums & you'll find others in the same boat who'll give lots of support. God bless, & I'll pray for you.

Sparklez.Sorry you have rheumatoid arthritis.I hope the meds will get it under control.I have had it for 20 years and with drugs am able to function almost normally.I had to stop skiing and running, but still go for walks and swim.
Since losing weight is mostly food control and not exercising,I was able to lose weight despite not exercising except walking. It can be done and good luck with your weight loss and arthritis treatment.
