Unhappy Goal weight and body size? 0.0

I started out at 267, my weight now is 205, goal is 130 so I'm halfway there. The thing I'm scared of is I'm 5'2 and 20 years old and I'm afraid that on my medium frame, I'm still going to look fat like... I mean I want your alls opinion does that seem like a good size because I want to be a little on the smaller size..I'm just scared that I will reach that goal weight and I wont look like how I imagine. Am I setting my goal a little low should I be aiming for 120?

I have the opposite problem. Wide shoulders long chunky thighs (all that cycling when I was a kid) and 5'6" . I may be able to shed another 30 lbs at a push(currently 212) but it's going to be very hard to maintain. You need to find a weight you can maintain and look healthy at the same time.it would be a shame to get down to where you want to be and realise that you won't be able to maintain your weight. My height and build means my BMI will probably never reach "normal". Well done on your achievements sofar and I look forward to reading your posts ! Xxx Sorrow

I've lost weight before (eons ago) and believe me, you can't really "Pick" a number. Just set something in around a healthy BMI and evaluate when you get there. I got down to 211 (I'm 6 feet tall and big boned), and I looked fantastic. I had originally aimed for 175, but it would have been impossible to maintain and I would have looked sickly.

I used to always weigh between 125-135 with a slim/slender body... well I have broad shoulders, and back then I was thin I was pear-ish...I would say hourglass BUT not thanks to my breast, but to my ribcage and shoulders lol. Now I feel like I can't ever be back to that weight because I've decided that I would like to be more toned and have muscle. So my NEW goal is about 145=) I've seen people tone up and weigh more but look skinnier! I say aim for your original weight but do some weight training...you might surprise yourself and end up looking amazing! Good Luck!!

Target weights should be flexible. If you have Ben overweight for most of your adult life, it will be hard to know where to settle. And... Then there is the "what am I willing to do to maintain that weight". On top of that, our image of what we want to look like and reality won't be the same. Maybe you will discover you are more of an apple shape... Or your boobs will disappear. Or you will have saddlebags that won't go away. You could be at a perfect BMI, but find that your image of your body doesn't look like the magazine covers because you don't have a magazine cover body. So then what? Give up? Gain the weight again? No. Be ause without a doubt you will be healthier at a lower weight and you will without a doubt look better, even with imperfections.

It can be discouraging, but you have to come to grips with it. Al ost no one is happy with their body - even those you might find perfect, the owner of that body probably doesn't feel that way about it. We are just stupid crazy like that.

And as far as lovers go - they will be far more forgiving than you will be. Most people just want a healthy partner. They don't expect their lover to look like they are a porn star.

It might help to see others that are similar sizes. Check out mybodygallery.com. You might find that you're closer to how you'd like to look than you think

I would only start to think about a final goal once you are 5-10lbs away from it, otherwise how will you know? Best to just focus on the mini goals before the stop.

I agree with everyone else. I think without being really close it is just to hard to pick a realistic goal weight.

I set mine to 165 which is just at the line above normal BMI for my height but I think that will still be much bigger then I would like. So once I hit 165 I can reevaluate and see where I wanna go from there.

So maybe stick with 130 for now and once you hit it then rejudge if you want a new goal or stay there.

I have this same battle too, as I have been overweight my entire adult life and most of my childhood. I set a number based around BMI for now, and am trying to remind myself that I will figure it out when I get there.

Breathe easy. You'll figure it out when the time comes. And you're already doing amazing.

I am 5'2" and my goal is between 105 and 110, but I would be happy anywhere under 120. Of course, theses are just my goals and you have to do what feels right for you. I notice that my athletic performance improves a lot when I lose weight. When I'm losing I'm often weaker, but after when I am maintaining I am a lot stronger, so think about your athletic goals if you have any. Also, I would definitely do toning exercises because I saw a picture of a girl who weighs 135 and she looks better toned than she did not toned at 118 (fitter and slimmer). I rock climb and I run track and cross country, so I think I'm pretty toned, but I don't look like how I want to yet. Also, I may not get down to between 105 and 110 because it might be too hard to shed the last few lbs or maybe I'll be happy when I look in the mirror at 115lbs. I would just see how you feel. I'm just giving you my goals because we are the same height but by no means do I think you should change your just because of what I say

I'm 5'2, currently 203lbs and aiming for 130. When I was 130 before I think I looked good - and it was maintainable (even if I didn't!). I have a photo of when I was about 130 and I'm hoping to look like that again.

I'm 5'2 & 223, but I have that big shoulder, little leg body- the upside down triangle with a big belly is me. I'm currently aiming to get under 200- that's my focus for now- but I think it will take me many years to break 150 if I ever do. that's been my lowest weight since puberty, and I was at peak health then. I agree with the suggestion to look at the body gallery. It always gives me an honest perspective.
I also agree that goals are flexible. I would love to someday be in a healthy BMI range, but maybe I will be happy and confident at some other point along the way & decide to maintain there for a bit.

Also noticed you're in Kingsport. All my family is in Morristown, and we're pink hair twinsies

Good luck to you!!

I think that your goal of 130 is fair if you don't want to be too thin. I'm at 132 now and I still have 15ish lbs to lose. To be in the healthy weight range, I have about 5 lbs to go. In all fairness, I would wait until you lose 1/3-1/2 more of your weight before you make any decisions on what you want to stop at because, from my own experience, it's hard to judge imagination vs. reality.

I believe a person's ideal weight is where he/she feels alert, energetic, fit, and healthy. So simply just focus on your healthy diet, effective exercises, and other weight loss plans and don't worry about the numbers.
The important thing is to:
Be persistent - don't give up. And trust your feelings and what your body tells you.

Good Luck!

Morning!
Like everyone is saying - choose a weight that you think will be comfortable. I am not a huge fan of BMI calculations because at 5'7 a healthy weight for me is supposedly between 135 and 150 but I am never going to be a small girl. If I get to 150 (never mind 135) I will look like a skeleton with my structure. Don't structre everything around teh BMI but rather around how you feel when you hit your goal weight.

Once you hit 130 - take time to reevaluate and if you feel you could lose more then go for it!
