I just wanted to mention that at my former gynos office, there was a little sign on the wall in the lab room that their standard procedure is to test for STDs but if you didn't want that to let them know. I asked the nurse why they do this and she said that they find an incredible amount of STDs among married women and those who are in (supposed) monogamous relationships. I've since moved, and not sure about the new one I go to.
