Default Biggest Loser

Hey all. Happy Monday. So I have not watched Biggest Loser but did read a brief article about how the winner lost 155lbs and is now down to 105. Anyone else see this? It seems she has taken a lot of "hits" in the media about her losses and even been questioned about having developed an eating disorder. I guess I don't know much about the show and how they promote losses to comment but it seemed pretty interesting to say the least.

I watched the whole season and was dismayed to see this fit young woman turn into a frail anorexic woman for the finale. I realize it was for a lot of money, but I feel she took it way to far and hope that she gains at least 15 pounds, if not more. She is 5-5 and did have an athletic build. I could not see any muscle left, just bones. Word is BL is photoshopping her pictures to give her curves.

Yes, I watched it (somewhat shamefully…) and found her attitude toward the end off-putting. She also seemed to think all of her problems would disappear if she lost the weight, and sadly, she brought up a lot of 'issues' throughout the season with her family, weight gain, etc. I hope that she is okay, because she sure doesn't look it.

She was 150 when she left the ranch and they told her she was within 5 lbs of being at the body fat of a PROFESSIONAL ATHLETE.. then she went on to lose 45 more pounds! Just sad.

WOW. That is really sad. I suppose she just went too far. I hope it was for the money (to ensure she won) but really plans to be at least 135-145lbs given her muscular (former) frame and health. Just WOW. While I am not a BL viewer I really did question them promoting this as a success.

Oh I'm sure it was for the money, but unfortunately she has said that she wants to 'maintain.' Also that she takes 3-4 exercise classes per day. She also has said things like "I have my life back!" which is so sad and misleading- as if you can't have a life when you're overweight. Life is on hold until you're thin, apparently. And I realize a lot of us (and sometimes I'm guilty of this too) can think this way, but I wish it weren't the case.

t won't be watching this show anymore, it's truly a horrible example. Even the trainers looked shocked, and not in a good way. While some of us are able to see it for what it is, there are many others who look to it as gospel and think it's realistic for them- and that is irresponsible and problematic.

155lbs is a great loss but not in 7.5 months. When I read about this and saw how some people were praising her weight loss really made me question societies view of beauty. I really hope this girl gains at least 20 pounds for her health

I am 5' 4 1/2" tall and I lost 57 lbs in 5 1/2 months on IP. Many, many people have commented that I am so teeny and skinny now. I have had multiple comments suggesting I "not" lose any more weight. I weigh 128 lbs now. While many of the comments are due to the fact that people are not used to seeing me at this size, I cannot even imagine how I would look at 105 lbs! I worry she has an eating disorder and body dysmorphia. I hope she gains back a few and maintains a healthy lifestyle for her own sake.

I watched the finale just to find out what everyone was talking about. I commend her on her weight loss but in all honesty I thought she looked better at a heavier weight than she did at 105lbs. I don't know if it was the makeup, the lighting, or the fact that she was so thin, but I was shocked to find out that she's younger than me. She definitely didn't appear to be.

WOW...I am at a total loss. I am 5'4 and range anywhere from 130-140 and can't imagine weighing 105lbs...that's scary honestly. The fact that she says she works out 2-3 per day is enough for me to believe she has some issues as that is not the way to live a healthy life. So very sad. I am disappointed to hear all this,

She is actually under a healthy BMI. I am not the show "knowingly promoted" her to lose so much weight. Do they pay the grand prize to the biggest loser, yes, but neither do I think they anticipated someone taking it to that extreme. I have a feeling that due to all the negative press, they will be addressing this in future seasons.

When I had my counseling session prior to my lap and surgery, they warned about trading one addiction for another. Some people turn to shopping instead of eating. I think she traded exercise for eating.

To me, the problem is the game itself. She had a very motivating reason to get to that unhealthy weight ($250,000). Hopefully she will put on a few pounds now that it is over but she was playing a game and was a fierce competitor. I can't criticize her for that!

It goes to show you can't please everyone and is probably the reason why most women have the issues that we do.
I mean I think the winner from season one gained back all the weight and then some. These shows don't care about you after you leave.

I hope that she finds a healthy medium and doesn't gain back the weight.
anyone who has struggled with weight knows that it is a lifetime journey. You can do a drastic weight loss and then you hit your goal and you think you won... and slowly you pack the pounds back on... (me, started at 250, went to 170, then to 161.. maintained 168 for a long time.. went up to 189 and now I am trying to go down to 155 or smaller and honestly I don't think I will ever be happy with my body)

OMG...you are touching on a lot of important issues here. Media depictions, how we treat other women who lose/gain, etc. I must thank you for your honestly.
