Default SBD Friday Chat, 2/7

Happy Friday! I'm thankful to see our power stayed on through the night, since it's been sporadic the last few days. 41% of the people in the county are still without. Most stores, restaurants, schools, and gas stations in the area are still closed. It hasn't been this bad since the ice storm we had back in the 90s.

I'll call my Dad soon to see how he fared through the night, and keeping my fingers crossed that his power will be restored today. If not, I'm going to call my brother to insist he take Dad to his house for the weekend. I'd have him stay here, but we have a full house already.

At least I'm able to stay OP throughout all this.

Oh dear, Linda, you really did get socked! I think it's past time for the brothers to step in. I hope power starts coming back. Shades of the 1998 Ice Storm! I'm impressed that you have stayed OP.

Got through my eye check yesterday without having to shell out for new glasses - one eye has actually improved. I was glad Barb was with me because the sun was just blinding on all the snow when we came out. She drove home. We did not pick up my wine order because Eric did not have boxes. (We put the wine into bags and boxes and I bottle it at home as I need it.) I'll scrounge a few boxes and get it next week, I guess.

Home this morning doing odds and sods and then off to Brockville for a 1:30 meeting where I receive the reins (or leashes) to take over Group Leader tasks for the therapy dog team. We have at least ten people and pets waiting to be tested and don't have a qualified tester. The current Leader IS qualified so I am taking over as Leader and she will do testing. I'm hoping this doesn't add a whole lot to my volunteer load. I am rid of my work on the Village Beautification Committee although the chairperson still keeps sending me emails!

Two sleepy dogs again this morning who look ready to spend the day on "their" chairs. Disney got down off her chair on her own again today - a great sign that the glucosamine is working.

Hmmm - I have a seafood cooking course tomorrow and am on the hook for a dessert for Delta Family Dinner. Too bad it's not a dessert course. How does Rhubarb/Strawberry Crisp sound with ice cream. Sorry! Food porn!

Time for another mug of Paul and then I'll get on with my day.

Good morning.

Linda - Saw your part of the world on the news. Crazy.

Ruth - "odds and sods" is a new one to me!

Rose - I'll tape and selectively watch. Mostly the skating.

I've got my workout with mom and trainer this morning. Might run past Sprouts after since it's almost on the way home. Yesterday DH and I got out for the first time since the snow earlier in the week so I really don't need anything. Not much else going on here.

Have a great day.

Good morning,

Cottage so glad that your power is still on, I feel for everyone that does not have power with all the cold.

Ruth I hope this does not add to much to your already hectic volunteer schedule

Karen the name of that store Sprouts just sounds interesting to me. To they have a lot of sprouted grain items?

I am doing wfh felt guilty as I already had 2 since we had so much snow but I will get more work done if I do wfh since I need to take DD2 to Ortho appointment in the afternoon. I would have to leave work an hour earlier if I did go in so I will get more work done this way.

Stay safe and warm -7 here without wind chill.

Dad just called to say his power is back on! And on my way out to the farm to pick up their laundry and get a grocery list together, I spoke with the crew who is working on the lines near their place, and was told with any luck they should have their power back on by this evening. Cindy was relieved to hear that, since she has a plane to catch this afternoon and was worried how everyone would fare over the weekend. I have to pick up the girls at 4:30 and I know they'll be happy to have electricity at home.

Afternoon all! Just a quick fly by. I'm getting ready for an interview. I swear, I should just be a professional interviewer I've been on so many!

So yesterday was my second day of phase 1.5- I added 1 small serving of roasted potatoes (in a Lean Cuisine with broccoli), and THAT sent me on a ridiculous carb spiral. Apparently Lean Cuisine potatoes are out! Going to do one week of a really veggie-heavy (like, moreso than usual) phase 1 to tighten things back up.

In other news, one of our sheep had a baby! We didn't even know she was pregnant, we just thought she was fat!

I'll drop back by tonight and let you know about the interview, as well as actually replying to other posts! See you guys in a few

Sprouts is another "healthy" food store, kind of like Whole Foods, I guess. They do actually have a lot of sprouted grains stuff, I noticed today. They have TONS of gluten-free products.

Penmage congratulations on your newest arrival. I bet he or she is adorable!!!

Uneventful work day, we did have a nice lunch from Mrs. Green's. It is a healthy grocery story. I had a delicious quinoa salad with almonds, red and yellow peppers and cranberries with falafel (so good) Next week we are having lunch from Fresh Market. My regular Friday partner is a healthy eater too and likes to walk during the tour! yeah for me!!

Have a good night, time to watch the Olympic's ceremony
