The "flu" is a respiratory thing, not a stomach ill....but there are a lot of viral stomach and GI bugs that are no fun! While NOT the flu..there is a worry of dehydration. If you are really vomiting and "other" stuff...sometimes it is best to just try ice chips for keeping dehydration from taking hold initially. Usually the way food is reintroduced (waiting until the vomiting stops for several hrs...or longer) to an inflamed GI and stomach after a severe bout of this, is the
BRAT diet. Small amounts of
Bananas,
Rice
Apple sauce
Toast...in that order...and usually spaced by several hrs to see how your system tolerates food...slowly.
