Club Soda on IP Diet Phase 1
Hi, I really enjoy canned club soda and perrier as an alternative to water. My coach claims that there may be an acidity problem created when I drink club soda, that will slow my weight loss. Has anyone experienced this? What are your results? I can only find posts regarding diet sodas. I don't drink them, only club soda and perrier.

I use plain carbonated water almost daily, (esp last summer when it was stinkin' hot!) Make sure there is no extra sodium...and remember, everything in moderation. Being on IP is an opportunity to moderate behavior. I use cans, and am able to get two "wine" glasses from each can..which is a nice treat before dinner and with dinner in place of something NOT SO GOOD for me. I limit myself to 1 can a day, unless we are at a picnic or some social event. Better that, than just about any other choice except plain water!!

I agree, your fine. You have to just "yes" the coach and come to the boards and get the real answer
I drank sodium free seltzer and even Sparkling Ice which has sucralose and lost 60 lbs

yep. sometimes that's when I add my Mio to my day! Makes it a real treat! I like the sparkling ice drinks as well but not more than 1 a day and no more than a few times a week!

DH and I got a soda stream for Christmas and while he makes his drinks I am able to use the soda I make for not only getting stains out of clothing but I am able to add mio or a few drops of 0/0/0 seltzer flavor. Nice treat for me.

Also make sure there is no phosphoric acid.
This (IP) plan is alkaline so we don't want to be adding acidic items.

I was told I could use carbonated water but not which kind. I use pelegrino and have for the last two weeks. I bought the dropper form of stevia vanilla cream and add some to it. This makes it taste like a vanilla soda. I do not know of pelegrino is okay. But was told I could do this by my coach. Input?

My coach said it's fine, but it doesn't count toward the 80 oz total. Not sure what others feel, but wanted to share.

I have been drinking peligrino since the start of my diet no issues. I have never been told not to as part of the program. sometimes its easy for me to drink towards my 64 ounces than plain water. Bottoms up

Interesting point. This may sound like a stupid question but what are the ramifications of adding acidity to an Alkaline diet? I'll look into it this morning but I'd love to hear your thoughts as well.

I love carbonation myself – soda, beer and soda water. In fact, I feel like I may be kind of addicted to it. The sad thing is and another reason to avoid it all together is... the carbonation expands your stomach, for a period of time, which may make you feel like you are hungrier than you are. It’s a sad truth. I gave it up all together and I can’t tell if I feel better or less hungry. I miss it like mad and feel 100% deprived but those feelings will go away too – just like everything else it will start to diminish.

I looked at Stop & Shop for the liquid Stevia and couldn't find it. Where did you find it? I was on their website and it looks like they have a lot of flavors. Says it supposed to be there, but wasn't.
Anyone else tried it? Is it less full of chemicals than Mio or Crystal Light drops?

I found it at my ideal protein clinic. But my sister told me they have it at whole foods for less money. I think it's 12$ a bottle there. But it lasts for a long time. Yeah I think it is less full of chemicals because stevia comes from a leaf. It's super sweet. I even put a drop in my vanilla ready made drinks. I think they sell it in like the natural isles or more natural food markets.

You can also find it at Fred Meyer ( kroger owned store) in the natural section. They also have a ton of spice mixes that don't have any sugar in them.

They sell it on Netrition for $8.99/bottle if you can't find any near you.
ETA: Not sure if you use Netrition, but there's a flat $4.95 shipping fee, so I like to stock up when I order from them.
