Smile New Year, New You! Monthly weight loss challenge for Jan (All welcome!)

Hi all! I'm going to try and get the ball rolling with a monthly weight loss challenge if anyone is up for it? Hopefully it will get us all focused and allow us to support one another through the New Year!

So I'll start - I've over indulged greatly in December so I am setting myself a the target losing 10lbs in January. I'm planning on cutting out refined carbs, lowering my alcohol intake and i'm going to try to do at least a minimum of half an hour cardio per day. I am a working mum with two young girls and I am currently also a student so I'm really looking for any advice, help and support I can get from you lovely bunch!

If you let me know your stats (start weight, current weight and goal weight) for the month i'll add them on to the post and keep them updated for a weekly progress check!

Come on everyone lets start 2014 off with a bang!

Hi D, nice to have someone else here with me! I have added your Jan goal to the list.

I've never tried a Slimming club myself but I do have a friend who have had great success with Slimming World. Will you be following their eating plan?

x Sophie

Hi Sophie

Thanks for inviting me over to take part in the challenge after seeing my newbie post

I'm currently at 14 stones (196) which I've gone up to after gaining (and keeping!) bad habits after I was in a car accident about 3 years ago - I was only off work for 3 months but the habits I got during that time are proving very difficult to shake!

I've got a Weight Watchers calculater app so I'm going to follow that as I'd like a lifestyle change rather than a, 'diet'. My final goal is to reach 10 stones 7lbs (147lbs) and my goal for January is to lose 12lbs.

I did start WW last Saturday so my first weigh in is actually tomorrow morning!!

Good Luck!!

Well done Julie! We have a similar starting/goal weight so we should try to keep track of each other's progress and try to keep up with one another!

How are you finding WW? I was thinking about joining.

I went walking today with my boyfriend Ross and his parents two dogs, we walked 4 miles in the forests and although it wasn't hard going it's great to get outside and get some activity in on a non-running day. I try to run around 3 times a week but I'm having a week off this week to rest a sore ankle.

I'm also keeping a detailed and accurate food diary for the first time in my life! Anyone tried that before?

Thanks Kate I know the first week is usually a good loss cause it's water and such but I am pleased

How long have you been running? Apart from going walking I'm not doing any specific exercise at the moment - I used to go on the crosstrainer so will have to dust that off!

I'm finding keeping the points for WW easy and I've not been hungry so far - it's good that most fruit and veg are zero points - I haven't joined though just got a couple of apps for my phone that do pretty much the same as WW online. It's also like keeping a food diary really cause you've got to log everything you eat into the tracker.

Hope it is going well - and hope the sore ankle is easing.

I'd like to lose 5 lbs by the end of the month. I've been losing pretty slowly so I'm trying to set up a good goal for me!

194/194/189

BTW...I need to weight myself tomorrow in the AM in case my weight is any different! My last weigh in a week ago was 194 but I've already restarted my diet. LOL course it's the evening and I don't want to weigh myself now! Please don't mind if I change my numbers!

Thanks for the open invite!

I've been a runner for years, but got out of the habit for quite a while and I suffered from awful shin splints after tearing the ligaments in my ankle (one thing lead wildly to another!) . Got back into it recently

Feeling good today, keeping between 1200-1500 calories a day. Got really hungry after work but a fruit tea kept me going, love that stuff.

Hope you're all having a good day x

Good Morning all! Well on this morning's weigh in, I've lost 2.5 of the 3.3 lbs I gained over Xmas. So sign me up for 7 lbs. I'm ready to see the back of the 180's now. I'm really looking forward to it, wish me luck
