Default Winter Weekend Dec 7-8 chat

I never made it here yesterday, way too busy! After work my walking buddy and I got in a brisk walk (34* seemed chilly after Thursday's mid 50s!), then I spent the rest of the afternoon working on decorating the house, went out to eat with DH (we won't talk about the food porn) and stopped on the way home to re-stock the veggies. A very productive but long day.

Today I am going to do some of the usual laundry and cleaning but also hope to decorate the tree. DH and I have it up with lights on it, which is a good start, but usually I put decorations on it too! I would also like to start wrapping presents since I really need to inventory whether or not I am done shopping for the kids.

Our snow is gone, but the next few days look to be chilly, mostly 20*s. At least there is no sub-zero in our forecast!

I guess I will start a load of laundry while I wait for the coffee. Is it brewing extra slow today because the machine needs to be cleaned or because I am impatient? just wondering....

Beth, we have the slowest coffee maker in the world! Mine is finally done. THanks for starting us off, glad you had a productive day yesterday.

It is beautifully covered in white this AM ....which makes me happy! But, I am leaving for Florida this afternoon, so I won't get to enjoy it much. I do have to travel over 2 hours for the airport (waaaaay cheaper tickets), I hope the drive thru the mountains is good. I'm not sure if I'll be checking in from mom's or not.

I think I better get my butt in gear for Christmas shopping...

Good morning "neighbour" Beth. Shall I pass you a mug of Hazelnut flavoured coffee as a thanks for starting us up. I have a load of laundry running right now.

Cool but sunny today with a high of only 29ºF - big change from the past few days of "false Spring". Can't complain much though when I see how cold it is in the West! That little smiley amuses me - what funny boobs or is that a scarf?

Got a lot of stuff done yesterday and the house is looking a lot tidier. Did the last of the shopping for my DD out West and will get it wrapped and mailed on Monday. I also did the first wave of my Christmas party shopping and managed to avoid anything that was "calling my name". My bubbly has already arrived at the local LCBO but is going to stay there until Christmas Eve as I don't need three big heavy boxes hanging around.

Today I plan to get the diningroom light fixture decorated AFTER Donna washes the glass shades. I may have to work at the Town Hall tonight for Celebrate The Season but am hoping to wiggle out of it! I'd much rather snuggle by the stove with my two darling furries. I might even write some Christmas letters and get some cards ready.

So off we go into the Christmas countdown. What's a happening chez vous? Fa-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la!

I'm flying out of Harrisburg, Ruth, which is a beautiful drive. The roads should be clear now (boy they were noisy at 3 am!). It's a great little airport.

You sound like you're on top of it for Christmas! I did buy my brother a remote control helicopter, and of course, my son was insanely jealous!

Ruth, I hope it's a scarf!

Tammy was this a planned trip to FL? enjoy your time with your mom. I fly out of HPN (Westchester White Plains) so much easier than the big city airports. I get "preferred parking" at the police barracks there. My flight leaves bright and early. I'll check in during my layover in Atlanta. I laid out some clothes, but nothing is packed. DS is being quite difficult this morning. Mainly BC I won't let him keep the truck after work tonight. Sorry kiddo, but I got to be up way too early tomorrow. Let him gripe all he wants he is still going to his dad's tonight.

Well I guess I should get motivated to clean and pack. My reward will be a shower lol and ornament shopping later. I am fairly ready for Christmas. Cards done, house decorated, majority of shopping complete and gifts mailed.

Enjoy this brisk day!

Good morning. Very cold here!! I'm working the closing shift tonight. Tomorrow we are expecting snow and with the cold the roads are expected to be slick. My book club has our holiday part (with husbands included) and I need to get to the store for my appetizer so might do that today before the precipitation.

Yesterday DH and I went to the Truman Library. I've lived in this area for decades and DH for his whole life and we always felt "we should go" and only just now got around to it.

Have a great weekend.

Good morning everyone.

It's wicked cold here this week. The high for today is -27 Celsius with the wind it's -38. I am trying to figure out ways to not go outside. Even the dogs don't want to go out.

I am really behind on Christmas. I have some gifts, but a lot more to do! I think we will put up the tree tonight. I may start some baking- only things I have the ingredients for already!

I need to make a plan for dinner tonight- I may be cooking one meal for me and another for everyone else!

Have a good day everyone!

Hi Everyone!!! Happy Saturday!! Day 12!!!

It is cold here as well.....I'm not even sure I can coax the dog out today for what has become our routine walk.....

I did go to the Farmer's Market this morning and it was nice to be out and walking through the snowflakes The main barn of the market burned down a couple of months ago but it was nice to see how quickly they have bounced back!! This afternoon we are going to the German Christmas Festival here in town - Christkindle - and I am hoping to find a few more stocking stuffers....

Well I'm off - bundle up and stay warm today!!!

Samm

Hello Chickies,

Quick check in for me, I was busy this morning cleaning house first thing. Really needed dusting so that is accomplished. We are getting ready to go get a family Christmas picture with our doggie Blue. DH managed to talk the adult children into coming as well, so we can have an updated family photo.

It was 9 degrees when I woke up and high is only 21 so the snow will definitely not melt lol but it is not supposed to snow anymore and the sun is out so it is beautiful.

Enjoy your weekends sounds from posts like everyone has lots of things going on.

Hello and happy weekend all. It's been a busy, busy morning and we are taking a break for a cup of coffee before heading out again. I had soup to deliver to the Co-op this morning then brunch in town, an Open Studio tour (got the cutest felt snowy owl for our tree), farmer's market, another craft shop and home. I said busy, I didn't say work Now we are walking into town to play some more before heading home for a cauliflower crust pizza and wine. Not a bad way to spend a day

22ºF or -6ºC. I wish were all on the same system for weather. All I can keep track of is that 0ºC is 32ºF and when it gets down to - 38º in either system, it's about the same so stay indoors! (It's a good thing they didn't convert time to metric or I'd really be confused. Besides that everyone would have to buy new watches and clocks.)

Spent all of yesterday working around the house with a short break for tea when Karen came down to borrow my angel food cake pan. Donna had her dear granddaughter for the weekend so we mutually agreed to cancel. Gracie is a nice kid but very needy and seems to think I am here to entertain her for the three hours Donna is here cleaning. I did some wrapping and discovered a hoard of little gifts I've amassed over the years. They will either go in with larger gifts or head for the yard sales this spring. (How many wire whisks does one need?)

Today will be another hermit-type day as I get my DD's parcel ready to mail I may venture into town this morning for a couple of gift cards and tackle Mount Laundry. I might even get the little tree onto the back deck - so pretty to see from the kitchen sink. The AC still is not covered - no idea why I need to do that except my DH always did when he was here.

Trying hard to think of advance cooking things for my Christmas Eve bash. I think I have a mushroom tart recipe somewhere that can be pre-baked and know that meatballs and my oriental pork balls freeze OK. Too bad veggie trays can't be frozen.

"Less talk and more action" says Ruthless so I'll obey and get cracking on my day.

Hope your day is "warm" in some nice way.

Good morning neighbor Ruth!
Slept in a bit this morning and am now sipping my coffee. VERY productive day yesterday: decorated the tree and the house, got the empty boxes into the garage for the duration, did a little laundry (need to do more) and had a marathon gift-wrapping session last night. DH and I needed to lay out the kids' gifts to take inventory anyway, and then I just turned on a movie and started in with the wrapping paper. Can I just say I love gift bags and pre-decorated boxes? Today I need to finish the cleaning I didn't get to yesterday.

I tried River Girl's muffins yesterday. Tasty and they really stuck with me. DH also liked them but they are going into the freezer with the bean and almond flour muffins since I have an issue with portion control! I will take them out 1 or 2 at a time.

Hope the chicks who are traveling this weekend have safe and enjoyable trips! The sun is out this morning; I am going to rouse myself to find some breakfast and get on with the day!
