Unhappy So no one has gone bald from this diet right?

I understand that losing hair is kind of a part of the package. I'm fortunate enough to where I had thick hair to begin with but I'm only two and a half months into this and have lost a considerable amount. I think it's only noticeable to me but I'm shedding so much I barely want to brush my hair.

I would just like some experiences or words of encouragement because I'm freaking out. I take everything that I'm supposed to and I just don't want to be bald and small. That's not what I pictured. lolol

I'm like you - have lots of hair. I notice I seem to be "shedding" more but it's not really noticeable. You probably see it much more than others.

And really nice losses - way to go!

I'm losing a lot, but I also have thick hair. I'm hoping that it stops soon!

Thanks, Ruth! It's been a learning experience that's for sure.

Susie - So do I! I have like so much more to go and even though I have/maybe had? thick hair I don't have that much more to give up!

I lost some hair too, but it is growing back. No one noticed it but my hairdresser.

I really lost a lot of hair in months 2 and 3, but it seems to have stopped or slowed down a lot at this point. I do use Nioxin shampoo on my hair, which both my doctor and coach recommended. I also take Biotin daily. I also changed the dosage of my BCpill which you might consider asking your dr about if you are on it (I went from a regular dose to a low dose, which was recommended anyway with the weight loss).

Hope it gets better for you soon. I wore my hair up in a clip with a "pouf" from dry shampooing in the front for a long while to hide one of the bad spots and it worked pretty well. I ended up getting bangs (which I hated, but now kinda like) to hide all the spikeys in the front. Now I have new growth there and am fighting all the baby hairs!

But, it will grow back!!!

I didn't start losing a lot until about the third month. I am still losing now. However I am seeing a lot of new growth now. Two weeks into maintenance now, so four weeks after starting the higher calories of P3. Was getting scared though!

I have a lot of hair too...Or so I used to. I've noticed that with age it has definitely thinned out to a point where it's not as thick as it was when I was a little girl. I started taking Biotin and Collagen as a preventative. I understand that the hair will grow back once we add more calories and phase off program and enter maintenance but, it's the shock factor that freaks me out!

I lost a tonne of hair last year on my first round of IP...but then the new growth was healthier and stronger. I am taking Biotin 5000 mcg per day now that I am back on IP. I'm starting to see more hair falling, but not worried this time around.

I was told that the hair loss is only hairs in a certain cycle of growth. So don't fret, brush the ones falling out and it will stabilize

I've lost a lot of hair throughout this process, and I wasn't lucky enough to have a ton to begin with. It is noticable that it is thinner, and I was really starting to get worried about bald spots, but then it slowed down, and I'm getting a lot of new growth. I cut it shorter to disguise how thin it was, and use more volume stuff that I didn't use before. Hardly anyone notices except for me, well and my mom does. She's pretty observant. Still worth the weight loss, especially since it's slowing down even though I'm still 100% on IP.

Default Question

How can a diet be good for you, if you loose hair?

My therapist said some antidepressants will cause hair loss and to take extra zinc
