Default Monday SBD Chat, Sept 30

Good Morning

I'm up and at em'! I don't think I got here this weekend....I traded and worked both days, the early shift, which is the room at the far end of the building which is only open on weekends. On Saturday I had to go paint at "the project" right after work, too. The good news is I got lots of exercise and didn't have much time to think about eating.

Today I take my traded day off and head to Denver at 8 with mom for a medical appt.(Oncologist) ...didn't want her going by herself. When I return I'm right back to the project for more painting. So....DH and I went to bed early last night so I could get up early and clean. I'm still expecting that the other half of our contractor team may show at any time, possibly deciding to stay at the house.

I've stayed reasonably OP this past week and I'm happy about that. That's all my news....wish DH would show back up from the shop so we could have more coffee.

Sending healing energies to Ruth this morning!

everyone else!

What's up in your neck of the woods? Stop by and say hi

Good morning Debbie and Chicks yet to arrive I'm on my first cup of the day, first of several I'm sure. It's a WFH day so extra coffee and house chores in the background.

Yesterday I picked up a 35 lb box of tomatoes right out of the field for $25. I thought I was done with tomatoes when I left for MD so was very happy to get one more box. I slow roasted some for dinner and they were so amazing I'm going to do a couple more batches for the freezer. The rest will be turned into pre-sauce. I also bought a big bag of peppers to roast on the grill for freezing and a bushel of apples for drying (and maybe that tart from Elana's). I'll be busy this week.

Right now I need to get a pumpkin i the oven to roast. It's still too warm to have the oven on much during the day so I want to get that done now.

Good morning, you two busy chicks!

Debbie, I hope your mom's appointment with the oncologist goes well. Why do you have to wait for your DH to have more coffee? I don't understand what you mean.

Cyndi, it sounds like you're 'putting up' for the winter. How did you eat your slow roasted tomatoes? As is, or did you add them to something? I'll be loading up my dehydrator this week with apples to make apple rings, too, with the bushel of Golden Delicious apples I bought this weekend.

Mondays are always busy at the farm, and they had houseguests over the weekend so I'll have plenty to keep me occupied. I must remember that I have to pick up Audrey early from school for an ortho appointment, and we should get out of there in time to pick up Maggie. I'm hoping to tackle those apples when I get home.

Have a great week, and enjoy this last day of September.

Wow, we've got some busy chicks in here this am!

Debbie, thanks for starting us off. I'm with Cottage, don't wait on the coffee . I hope your mom is okay!

Cyndi - I need to look up the fire roasted tomatoes, I know they're good in lots of things. My two plants still have a load on them.

Cottage - I made a big batch of dehydrated apples, then DD decided she didn't like them anymore . Guess who does?!? Hope it's not too crazy at the farm today.

The weekend for camping was absolutely beautiful. I always get up early, so I went on a little explore Saturday, climbed up the campground side of the dam to see the lake, and voila! There was a bald eagle waiting to greet me. (well, I think I annoyed him, but I'll make it sound pretty!). We had friends join us Saturday afternoon, which was really enjoyable as well.

Now back to real life. The schedule is filling up in the next month, and I need to figure out when to cut my hair. A few have commented on how nice it looks long, so I might just get it trimmed (and it's waaay easier). I guess I should take care of those tomatoes today!

Good morning just woke DS so I have a few minutes to chat. Debbie I too hope all goes well for your mom and your renovation! Kudos for staying fairly OP with all going on.

Linda today sounds like a perfect day for the farm.

CyndiM you are always so productive with planning! I think I will be making the apple tart soon too. It is delicious.

Tammy glad you had fun camping. I have the opposite hair dilemma. I love mine longer, but it is VERY time consuming. Ny hair has the texture and weight of a heavy wool blanket.

Today's agenda includes riding (leaves are just starting to change across the river) weeding and making a double batch of red lentil and chick pea soup. Now I need to make DS breakfast and lunch.

Good morning Ruth and chicks to come

Good morning. Now I am salivating over the thought of roasted tomatoes. I must do some. They are quite yummy and also make the house smell wonderful.

Every day the ribs feel a tad better. This morning I was able to pick up the dog dishes without thinking about it! I do have the three guys coming for a finance committee meeting this morning and have one small job for each one of them - three high up lightbulbs burned out over the weekend. How handy is that! That'll teach them to say "Let me know what I can do"! They can pay for their coffee and cookies.

Glorious fall days here with sunshine and the leaves turning slowly. Apples are finally coming in and a friend brought me a peck of Bartlet pears. I'll eat a few but freeze the rest for pear crisp.

Now to take my pain meds, let them work while I read the news online and then get on with my day.

I found directions for slow roasted tomatoes here, but I'd been reading about them for awhile. I used them in Kalyn's dish with shrimp and feta

Good morning, chicks. I haven't made roasted tomatoes in ages! I've never done more with them than snack since it seems to take so many to make so little yield that they just get nibbled.

Today is a first for me - I'm going to work out with my trainer without my partner/mom. In the past when my mom has traveled I've gone to group fitness classes at my other gym, but last time my mom was gone I didn't do that in her absence since I need so many modifications between my hurt foot and my pinched nerve. And skipping for two weeks is not good! So... my mom said she didn't mind if I kept going without her. I don't usually splurge like this but the guilt at spending the money on myself is better than how I'll feel if I skip for two weeks.

Then DH and I hope to hike. And then I work late afternoon into evening today and tomorrow. We are getting a huge shipment of fall clothes which means lots to do but has fun moments like opening Christmas presents as we ooh and aah over new styles.

Have a great day.

Thx for kind wishes...she needs a melanoma removed which is very close to her good eye.
Re coffee: We enjoy the lightest roast that we have been able to find....it is super smooth. What most don't know is that the darker the roast the less caffeine. It gets burned off in the roasting process (I'm a former coffee retailer). Our blend is pretty high powered. My 1st cup=2 and by the end of the 2nd large cup I'm sufficiently caffienated. lol Thus if I want to enjoy another cup I wait for Kirk to come back from his shop so we can enjoy together.

Ok...off to Denver

Good morning! We're a bunch of chatty chicks today, aren't we?!

We all had a good night's sleep last night, so we're all up and refreshed this morning. Hubs is WFH this morning until he leaves for a tech forum in Dallas this afternoon. DD and I are just going to hang at home. We have a busy week/weekend ahead, so we're going to take it easy when we can. Our busy time of Fall travel is getting ready to start, so we take advantage of every minute at home.

With DH gone, dinner will be a simple sausage bake. DD loves sausage and we'll have some yummy roasted veg alongside it. Lunch will be a big salad. I'm really hoping today will be a good, OP day. I've been struggling a bit lately. Too many Fall treats and not enough willpower!

Hubs is making a giant mess in the kitchen and DD is hiding in a cabinet, so off I go! Have a great day!!

Hey ladies, just stopping in to say hi! Didn't find the time to post this morning.

It feels good to have Monday out of the way. Amazing September is gone also!
Not quite sure if I truly hit my monthly weight loss goal, but I seem to be down a bit.

Hope everyone's day was a good one.
