Default Random food splurging

Since I'm trying to lose weight and control my calorie intake to a modest level, how much damage can splurging do to it? Like for example one week I'll decide to go eat out and have a big meal. I may eat over a 1000 calories more than I usually do. Or this week I decided to splurge on some pizza one day and also went over 1000 calories extra. Is splurging once a week like this better or worse than, say, eating the same amount of extra calories eack week but having it split over three days instead of all at once on one day? I just want to know how it all works. I can't really control my splurging as it coincides with my mood, but maybe I can minimize the impact in other ways.

Some diet plans incorporate a 'cheat meal' or even a whole cheat day. However, they work best when dieters eating normal portions of foods they don't usually eat, instead of eating to excess. Maybe limit yourself to one or two slices of pizza, and fill up with salad?

They say that it's what you do across 7 days that counts, not just one. With that in mind, a lot of people eat a little less during the week and bank their calories to use on weekends. That might be an option.

In the end, it's really trial and error and what works best for you as an individual. If you splurge on weekends and still see an overall loss over the course of the week, then you are doing fine. If not, then it's time to tweak your splurges
