Default I sucked this week!

My husband has been home all week and I blew it, big time! Just having him home makes me want to eat because we both love to cook and love good food! I hope and plan to be completely on track again starting tomorrow morning.

To those of you who do well most all the time, I'd love some tips! It's so easy to fall off the wagon, it seems, and I really want to make this a lifestyle!

I had a tough week too but tomorrow is a new day! Let's not let a few pound gain turn into a lot meow then a few i am struggling but it's nice to know we can start fresh each day!

If I make a mistake and eat more than I should, I allow myself 15 minutes to feel guilty, hate myself for doing it, and then move forward. I'm human, I'm going to make mistakes. The big thing is to not let it get you down the rest of the day. After you've realized your mistake, make the next option something on plan, don't say "I'm going to start tomorrow", say "I'm going to start now".

I see it a lot of times where people beat themselves up for eating off-plan. The thing is, though, unless you're eating thousands of calories more than you should for many days, most weight you're going to see is water weight, and will come off fairly quickly after getting back on plan for a few days.

The great thing about calorie counting is that your diet is very flexible...if you want to eat a cheeseburger, eat the cheeseburger! Just make the rest of the food you eat today healthy and within the calorie limit and it will still be considered "on plan"! You mentioned that you both enjoy cooking, have you figured out the calories for the things you cook? There are recipe calculators online where you just put in all the ingredients and the amount of servings (try and guesstimate the servings as best as possible), and it will tell you the calories for each serving. It's a tad time consuming, especially if you are "winging it" in the kitchen and throwing things together, but keep a notepad with you and write down how much of everything you are using, and you can at least get a rough estimate.

Agree with buffinlovin, if you're cooking at home weigh and measure everything you eat and write it down. I find it stops me going completely over the top by making me confront what i'm eating, i can testify to a day or two off plan and associated weight gain comes off easily. Get back on the wagon asap, as buffinlovin says i do fit in foods that arent ususally on my plan but i get it into my calorie plan or if i'm eating a big dinner i might stick to all bran during the day, low cals, keeps me full up.

Great tips! Thank you all!

I also measure and figure the calories in what I cook and have actually measured out soup a cup at a time to see how many cups are there so I can get an accurate number of calories per cup. It is very time consuming, but as soon as I get it figured out, the recipe goes in a notebook, along with calories per serving. It's definitely worth the effort.

For the past five days I kind of let everything go and didn't count anything. But no more kicking myself (love the idea of giving myself 15 minutes to brood). Rintin is right, it's a new day and I am back on track.

I just had one of those weeks with my husband the gourmet cook. I told him that he had to help me stick to my diet & exercise. He did cook, but watch what he cooked for me. Plus he went on a daily 3 mile walk up the crazy Ozark hills. He could use to lose a little weight also. It's so very hard to diet and stay on track when you love food. (and your spouse is home) I did go out to eat twice with him, but still watched what I was ordering. I notice a lot of these places we eat have nutritional facts on their website. I just whip out my smartphone and I am golden. Don't get discouraged by a day or two of overeating. I have decided that this is a life change for me so one day is not gonna ruin my future weight loss.

Thank you for showing me I'm not alone, I restarted, the first day I had a shocking sabotage day

I got up the next day, gave myself a talking to and restarted and am on track. I like to calorie count.

My husband is like a kid, has every possible thing in the bar fridges that I don't want, he says there for the grandkids. Drumsticks, lollies, peanuts, chips

My first day he was offering me a drumstick, he doesn't get eating healthy. It would be easier to get rid of my husband than all the rubbish he brings home

I say aren't you worried about getting diabetes like Riddle, which was his dad. He says "I just worried can't get it all in before I get it, or I'll just take more drugs". He is always the clown

So I have to diet alone, he is very frustrating, Im not going to give in to disappointment and I will restart if I have a bad day

Scood, I understand just what you're going through. You're so right about not dwelling on bad days and restarting when you do have a bad day! That is a healthy outlook on losing weight. The only way to success is to not let our thoughts defeat us! WTG!
