Default Help!

OK CRISIS (but not really)...

I just moved in to a new place and my new roommates want to go out for dinner tonight to this sushi place (that I LOVE) and I don't know what I should eat...I have 400 calories left for today, does anybody know how many calories are in sushi? On a side note, this place offers brown rice instead of white rice so that's good. And they have vegan and gluten free options which I'll probably get...but how many pieces of sushi should I eat? 8? 12? Should I get a Miso soup and a green salad as well to help me feel full?

Experts on eating out, I need your advice!

Try Sashimi. It has way fewer calories because it doesnt have any rice or nori wrap.

I've used this website before to get calorie counts for sushi rolls: http://www.sushifaq.com/sushi-health/calories-in-sushi/ Based on the numbers for the avocado and cucumber rolls, it looks like you'd probably be pretty safe getting two 6-piece rolls of most vegetarian options and still be able to stay within your 400 calorie budget.

Also, it might seem kind of gross to some... but when I get sushi and I'm with people with whom I'm comfortable, I sometimes scrape some of the rice off the outside of the sushi roll. I just don't need or want that much rice with my rolls, and I figure every little bit helps keep the calories down. You might also be able to request that your rolls be made with less rice.

Enjoy your dinner out!

Thanks! I ended up finding that website actually ha, and it was helpful! I ended up getting 14 pieces of sushi, both vegan and with lots of veggies, and instead of dumplings or anything we shared a bowl of edamame. Also asked for the low sodium soy sauce so that was nice. I tried to eat my food slowly to make it last (I tend to eat a lot of sushi when I go out), and felt great after, not hungry and not too full either!

Thanks for your help guys!
