Default Hi there. :)

My name is Sara. I'm 31. I'm married and we have two lovely cats. I'm 5'3" and 230lbs.

I've been overweight since late elementary school and I've been gaining weight almost every year since then. About five years ago, I managed to lose almost 25 pounds and went from around 195lbs to around 170 pounds due to working my butt off at the gym. I managed to gain it all back and then a lot more over the last five years.

I would describe myself as an emotional eater. I eat when I'm bored and really, almost any time. It's really easy for me to binge on snack food like nuts and chips. I want to keep eating more if a food tastes good. I love pasta and bread and cheesecake. I also love strawberries, blueberries, and tomatoes. Oh, and sushi.

I figured that it's now or never that I lose weight and get healthier. I definitely want to get in better shape to get pregnant and run after kids in a year or two (maybe sooner, maybe later). Is there anyone here in their 30's who is waiting to have kids for one reason or another?

*sigh* It's so hard for me to be consistent with eating better and exercising. When I start out, I'm all Whoo-hoo! and then a few weeks later...pleh. First things first, I have to stop eating so much fast food!

Hi Sara. welcome! I'm new here too, and I'm finding I'm posting a lot, but it keeps my mind off the dieting. It helps! Hang in there and I hope you find success.

I'm 29 this year and like you I'm losing weight to start a family (so I can keep up with the young one, or two). I decided a few years back that I was going to have a child before my 30th year was up because I want great grandkids! I probably won't get them, but dreams are free

As I was reading your quick biography there, I said out loud, 'Goodbye pasta, bread and cheesecake.' Unfortunately, this is going to be where you will make the most sacrifices. I love bread and the occasional cheesecake, and I've have to reduce my bread right down. In fact, all I did was cut my bread intake down to one slice a day and lost 11lbs in a week (or month. I forget!). It was amazing!

I, too, am an emotional eater but, just like continual exercise, it takes practice to push through and beat the urge to eat or give up. I think it took me a month or two before I could watch someone eating chocolate or dessert (which is my favourite food) and not be tempted to get my own serving.

You'll be fine and we are all here to help and support you. If you get stuck or feel yourself slipping, just post it up on the forum and you'll get lots of different and helpful advice

Hi, Rachel. Thanks! I just started posting yesterday so I'm still figuring out the dynamics of 3fatchicks. I hope you find success as well.

Hi, Rhiko! Thanks for the welcome.

I can't wait to have babies! I'm definitely getting motivation from my friends who have kids. One set of friends has a 9-month-old and another set has a 3-month-old. I definitely need to get in shape if only to hold a chubby bub for a long time.

I know what you mean about the pasta and bread. Noodles and Company is one of my favorite restaurants. Oh, and bread. Chewy bread smeared with butter. *drools* I'm definitely a carb addict. Luckily, I stay away from cheesecake most of the time, but I do love other desserts, too.

Wow! I can't believe you lost that much weight from giving up bread. That's fantastic.

Thank you for the support and the advice. Good luck to you!
