Default Cold medicine

Does anyone have a substitute for sugar free cough drops and cough medicine? I have a wicked cold and they always go to my chest. I bought some sugar free Halls this morning and some Delsym to take at night but I just found out that the Halls have 3.7 grams of carbs in EACH ONE!!!!!

I will be taking this stuff for days and don't want to blow this week completely. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Also, does anyone know how many carbs are in decaf tea?

Don't know of any brand names, but I know if you ask the pharmacist he or she will direct you to sf cough medicines - my mom was diabetic and I know she used to take some sf stuff!

Good luck and hope you feel better soon!

tea has no carbs.... so if you drink it straight you can have as much as you want. If you need Splenda, count each packet as 1 carb.

Thanks Froufy but even the sugar free cough drops have 3.7 grams in them. I was hoping to do better than that.

StorybookMama, thanks....I thought even tea had carbs in it. Now I can drink all i want....just watch the splenda and the cream. I am into Chai lately. It gives me that sweet something that I need in the afternoon.

According to Fitday, one mug of tea has approx .7 carbs...so depending on how many you have, you may wish to count them in your total carb allotment.

I Just called the Theraflu hot line and found out that Theraflu has 9.1 carbs per packet.. BUT if you take the Theraflu Tablets, there are NO CARBS at all becasue they do not add any of the flavorings or aspartame!!

Must be cold season...I just popped a Dimetapp nightime capsule...no carbs I hope! Intending to breathe tonight so I can sleep! (maybe it's all those dust bunnies under the bed causing this problem?)

Hope you get feeling better soon, Jane! Sorry, I don't have any advice with the cough drops -- I hadn't thought far enough to know what I'd do if I caught a cold!

Take care,
Jina

Jane - Saw this recall of Halls sugar free cough drops tonight online from 10/3. Please chek it out. http://www.safetyalerts.com/recall/f/02.2/f0001538.htm

Weird that we're all feeling it. I feel achy tonight and my throat is very scratchy. Oh how I hate those winter upper respiratory infections!
