Not the prepackaged/premade ones - they use breadcrumbs for filler.

If you make your own, you can't use panko/breadcrumbs or anything like that. But the egg whites are really what hold the meat together, the bread is just filler. You also want to use very lean beef or turkey/chicken.

I make ground turkey meatballs with egg whites, finely chopped celery and mushrooms, and lots of herbs. I pan-saute them in a little EVOO to brown the outside.
