Question When do you stop eating for the day?

Greetings,

I am trying to get my eating habits under control. I wanted to know if you have a specific cut-off time that you stop eating food for the day. I drink a lot of water to try to curb the eating, but sometimes when i eat, i still feel full in the morning. I've heard not to eat at least two hours before bed. Does this work for you?

Thanks!

I try to stop eating by 8PM most days, but I honestly don't sweat it too much - I had dinner at 11:30 PM last night, and if my husband and I plan to eat together one night after he gets off work, that can mean dinner at 4 AM! For weight loss, it only matters how MUCH you eat, not when you eat, but I weigh myself every morning, so ideally I like to have some extra no-food hours before bed to give water weight a chance to pass through my system before that morning weigh-in!

I count calories, so I just stop when I am out of calories for the day. Sometimes that's 7:00- and a few times I have had something to eat at 10:30 right before bed. I really don't worry about the time as much as the quantity.

I am a true morning person. I am warmer in the morning, happier in the morning and hungrier in the morning. I guess I do a reverse of what most people do for intermittent fasting. I usually eat a big breafast, a big lunch and then a small dinner. I sometimes can make it till 6 pm for that dinner so I can eat with my family, but sometimes I just can't and finish eating for the day around 3:30 pm with a light dinner. I'm simply not hungry after dinner - even if I finish eating at 2:30 pm for the day, I'll be fine even if I stay up until midnight. It's weird, but it's how my body works. Today will be one of those days where I'm done eating for the day by 3 pm.

I don't worry about what time it is either. I'm counting calories using MyFitnessPal. It has a feature that says "Complete this entry" which you hit after you've entered all of your calories for the day. It gives you a nice little message and projects what you might weigh in five weeks based on what you ate that day. I finish logging after dinner every day and once I've hit that button, the kitchen is closed for me.

/istayedhomeandate,

I am trying to stop eating at 9 at the latest due to the time i get home, workout and eat dinner. But i am guilty of snacking and hate that full feeling the next day. Definitely a work-in-progress!

My schedule is all over the place, so I just eat when I can/get hungry.

I stop by 8 PM and usually before. I've found that for me I have to map out what I'm going to eat that day and stick to it. Otherwise, I'll snack on something healthy......a few carrots with some hummus, a stick of string cheese, a handful of grapes, an ounce or two of nuts. Before you know it, it's 11 and I've added another 300-500 calories to the day. I always hated the term grazing, but realized that it may be appropriate because I was beginning to take on the shape of a cow!

My family tries to eat dinner together every night so I usually try to have dinner ready no later than 6:30. I try very hard not to eat anything after that meal. Occassionally if my stomach is yelling at me I will eat a few raw vegetables to stop the grumbling.

Default Stop eating after dinner

After 30 years of denying this truth, I read the Biggest Loser book. The author states that it is best to stop eating after dinner. I do except about 6-7, I have a whey protein shake. This does seem to be working for me. I also fill myself up with herbal teas and water. I have a grant little electric tea pot that makes it easy.

According to the author you can count on burning fat X hours after you stop eating. The sooner you stop eating, the sooner you start burning fat.

If I can train myself to do it, it could be an easy win.

Usually around 7. I go to bed around 11, but on days when I know we r going to be up later I may eat something a little later. I don't like eating then going to sleep right away

If you're really hungry, a cup of soup can stop that grumbling.

I like pureed soups, and they can be super low calorie, like this 65 calorie cream of zucchini soup or this 49 calorie creamy mushroom soup, or this 85 calorie creamy cauliflower soup.

My personal favorite is this 76 calorie chili. Two cups of that on a starving day and I just had 150 calorie dinner! Cheese or sour cream can even make it more rich and you can still stay in a low calorie range
