I HATE Thursdays and Fridays at the school I teach at. Thursdays are staff meeting/treat day and Friday is bannock day. As wonderful as treats and bannock are, they are not good for weight loss! This morning, I packed extra fruit and told myself "Be tough today...it's Thursday!" and then came the dreaded staff meeting.
I thought for a second, before I went in, that if it was a brownie, I might let myself have one. I don't want my plan to be so depriving that I cave and eventually binge. But then I thought that nothing tastes as good as thin feels, and I would only be in heaven for like...15 seconds. AND possibly derail.
So what did I do? Well, I went to the bathroom for a second. The staff bathroom is the ONLY place in the entire school where I have privacy. It is a safe haven from "MISS! MISS! LOOK WHAT I CAN DO!" and other exhausting parts of the school day.
I said - nope. No treat. I walked out into the meeting and BAM! There was not only brownies, but also cinnamon buns, peanut -freaking- brittle, and a myriad of other homemade treats. We don't get most of these in the Arctic so it was quite a display.
One teacher saw me with my celery, got up, and put the tray BESIDE ME, and took away my celery.
AND I didn't budge.
Tra la laaaaaa I had a great day. Hope you did too!!!!!!! Oh, and I have Friday off for a mentorship day- NO BANNOCK!!

Thanks guys! Ahahahaa I WISH bannock was a banana hammock! It's a traditional Aboriginal grain dish. It's pretty much white flour, sugar and lard.... lol it's pretty devastating!! It is used as breakfast buns and dinner rolls here!
I just did a Google Images on bannock and OH MY GOSH! I could never be left alone with that....and I probably wouldn't be able to control myself with others around either! Your will power is powerful. Can you bottle that up and send it to me in California?
Good for you, brownies are very hard for me to resist. I'm shocked someone actually had the nerve to take away your celery, what's up with that?? How rude.
Great job. I will have to remember your line that nothing tastes as good as thin feels. I think i will use it is my new motto so i can become a queen of will power also.
I absolutely LOVE that you had a plan for the situation and stuck to it! I know those can be white knuckle situations, but it feels so good to get through them. Good for you! (I couldn't find the dancing celery stick. So I sent this guy instead.)
