Default Weight fluctuations

Now I know that this is compltely normal, but for the past 2-3 months I've been eating kind of bad. Nothing too wild and crazy and out of control, but definitely waaay less strict on my diet. I splurged on many holiday drinks since fall ("skinny" versions of course, but still too many) and occasional burgers, chocolates, etc.
I went from 142/143 to 145 (this was last week). So for the past week I decided to eat super well, very strict on diet to make up for the crap I ate within the past few months and today the scale said 141!

I know fluctuations are normal, but can 4lbs happen?! Today I was lower than I've ever been.. this makes no sense. i want to believe its my true weight but deep down I know it cant be.

Ironically, the same thing happens to me after the holidays...I stay the same while I'm going through this holiday food, and then end up with a woosh...I've actually lost 5 of the 11 pounds I've gained over the summer, since I started eating differently the past month and 1/2
I always assumed I must have stayed in my calorie limit, but the different food I'm eating caused me to bloat and mask any actual weight loss

Congrats on hitting a new low

Sounds like normal water "weight" fluctuations... give it a few days and hopefully you'll stay at that lower end of it... And if not, at least you're back on track before it becomes more than just a few pounds of water weight...

Water weight. That's awesome! That's probably the only good thing about going off plan is the nice big water loss that often follows. WTG on staying focused on your goal, and getting serious again!

Sounds like the water weight you lose when you first get your eating on track again. I'm down about two lbs after a few days of being back on track.

I wish I had those kinds of 'fluctuations'. It's not unusual for the scale to fluctuate up to 10 lbs. in a day for my body. Alcohol will do that to me every time. One nice thing is it will go away again within 3 days and I know it's going to happen so don't worry about it one bit. Weight fluctuations are completely normal... for those that need to lose and those that don't.

The exact same thing happened to me. I was up to 144 lbs at one point last month after a few days of indulgences at business functions, then buckled down and got back to 140 lbs within 4 or 5 days. I agree with the water weight theory.
