Default Red Team 2012 Spring Into Summer CHAT Thread Week 12(07/16-07/22)

Here are the initial results for week 11- leslieb (Blue Team Leader) will post the official results here: http://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/bigg...y-results.html

As a team we gained 0.1 lbs or +0.01%!!

Biggest Loser:
selway (-5.0 lbs, 2.67 %)

Honourable Mentions:
maryshady (-1.4 lbs, -0.85%)

narnia99 (-1.0 lbs, -0.48%)

canuckgirl7 & riddy both took freebies

I don't feel comfortable deciding if a freebie. If the player misses the weigh in time, then yes, but otherwise it needs to be up to the individual member to make that decision.
We lost 1 more member and are now down to 10 official members.

Okay ladies- no more time to futz around 2 weeks left in this challenge.
Pedal to the metal- let's finish strong.

GO RED!!

Congrats, selway! I knew you could drop a bunch of your "sick weight".

Nice job maryshady and narnia!

I'm glad I had a freebie to use - at best I was up 1.5 pounds this week. Grrrr. I had 2 small off plan treats this week - 2x2" square of cake tuesday, and 1/2 cup of ice cream thursday - shouldn't have been enough to put me up that much. Maybe I'm actually building some muscle in my couch to 5K. Or it's just water. Better luck this week.

Shanhat, I hope Hawaii is as fabulous as I imagine it to be! I have a friend who just moved there in February (her hubby is Navy), and I'm REALLY hoping to go visit her next year.

I too am envious of Shanhat in Hawaii.
I was on the Big Island in south Kona a week ago house sitting for a college friend and I LOVE it there. I'm trying to figure out how to move there (coffee farm anyone?), but hubby isn't on board (yet).

Sorry about my gain. I can't figure out what is the matter with me. I just can't seem to get anything right. The cereal/salad thing totally didn't work for me...I definitely need more protein. I was getting woozy, and I almost passed out one morning. I also jumped into an exercise program too fast and made myself so sore I could barely move for 3 days. Ugh! I was so good at this before, I don't know why I can't get in the groove.

I'm going back to baby steps. Drink my water, stay at 1500 calories, exercise 20minutes. That's it for this week.

Hang in there, MonteCristo. Keep tweaking til you find what works for you. I think it changes over time. I'm hypoglycemic, so I know I need lots of protein or I get weak & shaky. Don't give up - the right plan for you is out there somewhere.

Working late today, so I already got my yoga in. Might do it again after work.

Have a good Monday, everyone!

Hi everyone --

Montecristo -- you're learning from what you realize wasn't working and that's the important thing.....don't worry about the gain, you will start losing again....sometimes it's just really important for us to learn something about what is NOT working so we can make adjustments....

I'm going back to my baby steps also.....

Red Team Hang in there and drink our water -- Hug!

Tom showed up (never know when that's gonna happen these days) so, I'm up this week.

Montecristo, you definitely get more bang for the calorie with protein. It keeps you full much longer than cereal. And you won't get those insulin spikes and drops. Recently heard a nutritionist talk about meat, eggs, cheese, nuts being MUCH better than bagels, granola, fruit, low fat. Hang in there!

Riddy, great job getting the workout in early. I think it boosts metabolism for the whole day that way.

Elizabeth, baby steps are still steps in the right direction...keep going!

Howdy team!

Thanks for the encouragement everyone. I'll try and stay positive. I started eating my own homemade mcmuffin this week (toasted english muffin, 1egg, 1oz sausage, 1slice cheese-340cals) and my mornings are definitely looking up. I actually felt like a person yesterday instead of a zombie creature, lol. I just can't seem to get any vegetables into my diet. What do you think about v8 juice? I know you miss out on the fiber, but if it gets some vegetable nutrients into, maybe it is ok?

I'm trying to get back into weight training without killing myself, so yesterday I set my timer and just did Jillian's circuit workout for 20 minutes (plus a couple songs of warmup and cool down, Maroon5 has a perfect beat for weight lifting!) Made it through 3 of the 5 circuits, and felt really good afterwards. I really think taking the time to warmup and cooldown made a huge difference.

And when I got on the scale this morning, I was back down to 214, so I'm really pleased about that! Sometime I forget that slow and steady gets you to the end while craziness ends up crashing and burning!

Hi team,
Hope your week has started off well.

Monte- want to come make breakfast for me? Sounds yummy! V-8 should be okay, but watch the sodium- it's loaded. I like baby carrots to snack on throughout the day as they are crunchy.

Slow & steady definitely wins the race. It's so easy to get frustrated week to week, but it's good to look at the big picture- overall health, not just the number on the scale.

Have a great Tuesday.

That egg sandwich sounds yummy, MonteCristo!

I love V8, but it is pretty loaded with sodium. And the low sodium tastes like dirt. I actually like to snack on veggies now. I buy presliced mushrooms & dip them in salsa. Cherry tomatoes and grape tomatoes are easy. My new obsession is baby sweet peppers - my store has a big 2 pound bag of mixed red, yellow and orange peppers. I buy presliced celery too - it seems to stay crisp longer, and it's worth the price to me, because I just never bother to cut it up myself.

zogo - ugh. TOM is bad enough, but unexpected is like rubbing salt in the wound.

Elizabeth, baby steps are better than giving up!

Day off today, so I already did my couch to 5K. It's already 80 degrees out, so I was kinda slow. I'm just happy to be doing it, I really don't care how slow I am.

Good Tuesday everyone!

Hello everyone! Back from California. Will post more throughout the week. I am happy to report that I got in a lot of exercise walking around LA, Sanata Barbara, Ojai and Ventura California. I haven't stepped on the scale and don't plan to until Friday, fingers crossed!

Good morning team!
Welcome back Canuck. Sounds like a great trip to CA.

Riddy- way to go with the C2 5K! Keep up the great work.

Taking my son to the dentist this morning, then off to work. Hopefully a less stressful day than yesterday. Trying to ensure vendors are paid on time, it's a constant uphill battle. Ugh. Luckily it just frustrates me and doesn't make me turn to food (usually I want a drink-lol).

Have a great Wednesday!

Hope everyone is doing well. I was responding to a friend on FB about weight loss and realized I have been on this life style change journey for 3.5 years!
Which means I've maintained my 50 lb weight loss for nearly 2 years. I don't remember the exact day.
My goal is to get back to a 60 lb weight loss and be able to maintain that!

Hope everyone is doing well. Drinking their water & enjoying the day!

WooHoo Mel maintaining the 50lbs is a great accomplishment as maintains is the hardest part I think. You can do the last 10 no problem.
