Default Is DEEP PURPLE KetoStix harmful?

Ive done this in the past and have gotten Deep purple readings. Is this harmful? Ive become a diabetic since then, so Im not sure what to expect this time around.

My Consultant was saying that it wasn't good to have a deep color like that all the time because it hurts your kidneys. I'm not sure of the science of it though. She also said if you haven't eaten or had a lot to drink before weigh ins it could make it have that dark dark color.
