I agree with the others, you should wait as long as possible!

I took a peek at MyBodyGallery dot com and entered your height and goal weight, and a lot of size 10s came up. I don't know what your body shape is, but that's another detail that will narrow it down for you if you decide to look. But you might want to order something a bit bigger than a 10, I think it's easier to make a dress smaller than it is to make a dress bigger.

Congratulations, btw!! Those are all gorgeous dresses.

I'm 2" taller than you but at 225lbs I was a TIGHT 16 from Lane Bryant and am now about a 4, sometimes 6 at 156lbs. BUT I did a lot of weight training in between there so definitely increased my muscle mass along the way (highly recommend it!). In tops I'm typically a small/xsmall but I don't normally buy from regular shops because I have a larger chest (wear a 28J bra) so I shop at speciality stores that sell clothes by bust and waist measurements.

Im 143 and wear a size 11/12 where as my friend who weighs 148 and is the same height wears a size 6. It really depends on your body.

When I was 200 lbs I was wearing 16-18 UK (12-14 US) and now I'm wearing 12-14 UK (8-10 US) so from the lowest to the highest that's 3 dress sizes down! Whoop!

Yep, I'd wait as long as possible. With a March date, there should be no problem getting a David's dress if you order this fall. Then you'd give yourself a little more time to see where you'll end up.

For what it's worth, I got married in March (not this year ), and I think I ordered my dress in October(?) and still had plenty of time.

At over 200lbs I was a size 18, probably pushing a 20.

I weight trained on the way down. Now at 115lbs I am a size 0.

At 230 I was in a size 18 and now at 155ish I'm in a 10.

I too suggest you wait as long as you can. (I love the first dress! I think it's adorable without being cutsey. A little retro, a little fun. ) Another option to seriously consider is to have the dress custom made when you get closer to goal. I make custom gowns on the side and would be more than happy to help out a bride who came to me with that picture in hand and likely for a price similar to that or less. A good seamstress can work wonders and that dress isn't super complicated.

ETA: But if you do order a dress keep in mind that it is easier to take a dress in than let it out. If there's nothing in the seams there's really not a lot that can be done that will preserve the original design and alterations that involve reconstructing a dress can get pricey. In other words, order larger rather than smaller!

Candeka is right, it just depends. I was 5'6" (shorter after 5 disc fusion) when I married and weighed 135 lbs and ran 6 miles every day & I wore an 11/12, that was 30 yrs ago, there is alot of vanity sizing now!

Thankyou so much for the advice, I still will keep my appt to go try dresses on, if I find one and its a great price I won't be able to resist lol but I'll keep in mind I'll have to alter it, or exchange for a different size.
